I sincerely hope the Schalke keeper Fraisl is just a rumour. not the standard required to replace greegsy! Can't get a game in German 2nd division so how's he good enough to be our number 1? This has been floating around for ages. Any insight on this John?

Monty has played nearly 30 games this season. I was told we were scouting an Eastern European goalie.
I believe McLaughlin will be starting as number I.
Also heard today thistle want McGregor, Maxwell, Mayo on loan and also interested in Adam.

I think McLaughlin is a decent first choice. Is solid but maybe doesn’t give you the wonder saves McGregor did.
If we don’t think Mccrorie will be challenging we should bring someone else in with a view to them being potentially better and taking over in a years time, as while he is a decent keeper in don’t think McLaughlin improves the first 11.

John, I fully agree with your comments that there are few keepers of McGregor's calibre available however I would like to see us target to bring in a new keeper.
Personally I would love to see the West Brom keeper come to us although admittedly that now appears unlikely although that is the quality I feel we need to replace McGregor.
While I consider McLaughlin to be a competent keeper I do not feel that he comes close to McGregor in terms of quality, especially as a shot stopper and that for me is a concern.

Yeah totally agree but I’m hopeful we could bring in someone with the potential to be better than McLaughlin and be the understudy for a year.

Honeslty think mclauchlin is more than capable of being number 1. Greegs better shot stopper obviously but mclauchlin better at coming for crosses and better distribution with his feet.

I'd be happy with McLaughlin as number 1 next season, not sure who else we can bring in that's available, replacing mcgregor was always going to be a tough job.

Yeah 26 games I seen that after posting John lol however horrendous career none the less lol played for no one of note. Sam Johnstone wages would be an issue. Seen someone mention Sondre Rossbach, quality keeper and wouldn’t break the bank. Man Utd once showed an interest, he’s probs the best keeper in the Norwegian league.

Maxwell is out of contract and it isn't getting renewed so we won't be loaning him to anyone. wouldn't be surprised to see him join Thistle on a permanent though.
They are also interested in Cole McKinnon on loan.

I rate the boy McKinnon as a really too looking prospect only seen him play 2/ 3 times but I really like the look of him. Box to box mf good on the tackle similar to rat jacm for me. Really good player.

Scrambled a bit tough on the dig at McGregor errors from him this season are not like him happens to all keepers when they play enough and pretty sure McLaughlin will be same when/ if he plays more. But I agree the guy deserves a shot.

Can I just ask. who exactly are these centre backs, centre mids and strikers replacing in the team? If we've paid 4m for Ben Davies not to start I'd be surprised and no one is replacing Goldson no matter what our opinions are. Kamara and Jack can barely get in our midfield so who we signing that's going straight in? And why do we need another striker to be 3rd/ 4th choice? Only if Roofe leave's do we need to bring another striker in and only if Kamara leaves we need to bring in another midfielder. I just don't get everyone screaming for more signings the squad is massive. Folk want Lowry, King, McCann to get game time but want to sign more players that play their positions lol. Anyone know what's the latest with Katic, Zukowski and Kelly? I'm expecting a quiet end to the window tbh regarding ins unless big hitters leave.

I think we just need to trust the management team, they see him everyday.
We cannot get too sentimental when it comes to making football decisions, it’s the same with some of the other youngsters they must demonstrate more than a decent skill level, plenty of really good footballers frittered away their careers because of other factors. It’s tough at the top.

I’m bored of the whole Mcgregor Mcglaughlin debate. It’s everyday just about. Mcgregor shouldn’t have got a new contract and a number 1 should have been signed however that wasn’t the case and Mcglaughlin is now number 1. Back the guy. In my eyes it won’t be helping him knowing mcgregor is sitting on the bench and every mistake he makes will be scrutinised. I believe the whole keeper situation was based around the fact Mcglaughlin was giving a new contract and they didn’t want to lose mcgregor due to him being homegrown and helping meet euro squad rules. We have 4 keepers if you include wright, highly doubt we will sign another at this stage. Reviewed again in January possibly.
