May be totally barking up the wrong tree here, but is the fact that clement signed the extension to his contract is an indicator of possible new ownership? I'm not clued up on the business side of things, but if Bennett knows it's coming and why he's been doing what he's doing to make things more attractive, then is it possible the extension has been a way of making it harder for a new owner to come in and get rid given they will have to pay him more of a pay off.
Again, may be totally barking up the wrong tree but with the investment rumours today it became apparent to me this might be why.

Or to make sure if he does jump ship the compo is higher.
2.) 02 Sep 2024 21:15:44
It's not a bad assumption to make. we can only hope.

Wishful thinking I feel, no sugar daddy to bail us out I’m afraid this will have to be done organically, phase one has started ie getting rid of underachievers on inflated salaries and bringing in younger players.

Verdant, did the previous CEO Bisgrove along with the Board approval sell Rangers to Clemente with a complete history of falsehoods and promises. Furthermore, wasn’t the renewal of contracts to stop Clemente from resigning and leaving with possibly some of his back room staff, preventing another headache at the desk of the chairman?

Or if we sack he gets a better pay off!
6.) 02 Sep 2024 22:57:12
That as well Hertford. That was my initial thought but given the nature of the old firm and our current woes it doesn't make sense for that to be the reason as he's more likely to be sacked than poached by another club/ country.
It's making me think Bennett knows a new owner might come in and want to change things and by giving clement an extended deal he's giving clement a bit of job security but also ensuring there is some stability as its unlikely for a new owner to sack him if there is a bigger payoff.

All smoke and mirrors guys, have been hearing about this ' investment'for years! Always when we have a bad result against Celtic, always near AGM time always during summer
Move on nothing to see here, there is no money to be made with us, so no one will be interested, when there are easy pickings down south.

Board are reducing costs as they were unsustainable for the club to handle long-term. I suspect that Clement was given the longer term contract as the plans in place to improve the team will take longer to come to fruition so wanted to show Clement he would have that time and the fans that he was getting it. Clement has said recently that we won't see the best of Rangers until October, November or December so why we expected to win at end of August.
BTW he needs longer than till the end of the year and will get it hence the longer contract and the cost to sack him. a disincentive to the board. Board need to hold strong and ignore that fan pressure.

Does anyone in the know have any info on why we accepted such a low fee for Cantwell? I get he's caused problems but he's worth a lot more. Was it just to cut ties with him?
1.) 31 Aug 2024 11:25:50
I'm not sure about the fee. TBH, I'm just glad to have got rid of the rat.
2.) 31 Aug 2024 11:30:20
It was either that or keep him.
3.) 31 Aug 2024 11:30:42
He's a bad apple.
4.) 31 Aug 2024 12:06:50
Verdant we allegedly got 600k for Cantwell.
Addons based on appearances can get us another 600k
Also it appears we have a very good sell on clause of 30%
Also a real bonus is with three years left on contract we would have paid wages of 3 million.

I tend to agree with John. If he plays well at Blackburn, (and he is capable of this if he can keep his mind on the football), then he is still young enough to secure a transfer to the top league and that will bring in more funds to us.
I wish him well, the better he plays the more that we are likely to benefit!

It is frustrating when you see a guy of similar age McGowan selling for 1m or Johnson for 3m but he's only worth what a club will pay but maximising players value has to be a priority when a new ceo comes in.

Someone posted saying they think a lot of recent negativity could be contributed to the stadium issues (think it was sunshine) and I tend to agree.
When you consider this time last year we struggled to beat morton in the cup, we'd been well beaten by psv, paid out 21m for a team of dross that never knew what their instructions were, had a manager that constantly changed the formation and players and the result was players that didn't look happy at all.
This year we have bought or signed new players and got rid of some of the dross to no where near the tune of 21m. We are playing to a formation that the players know and is widely used in modern football due to its flexibility in transition from defence to attack and bar the home Kiev game, grinding out results despite not playing the best.
I am beginning to think that clement playing players who were already here last year and know what us fans are like might have been a masterstroke to allow him time to bed in new players and introduce them slowly.
Last year players were being booed within weeks of being at the club and the atmosphere was quickly becoming toxic.
I belive clement knows this and is trying to avoid it and if you look at his lineups as weeks go by me players are more involved.
I think if we get back to ibrox and the new players are fully integrated by that time the feel good factor of being back at ibrox could be like a new signing.
It may all not be doom an gloom we all think it is is what I'm saying.

The rumour was killing had approached him not that he was signing.2 very different things.
10 Sep 2024 11:00:30
In the summer i heard from a killie fan who knows staff at the club that they had approached him. Thought it was a load of single fish but may be the scottish club mentioned if john is confirming it wasnt us.

Rfcone I can confirm I am not verdant abyss.

You would wish that a player who's into his 3rd season would be kicking on by now but it simply hasn't happened. If it's a decent return with an obligation then you would take it all day long.

Speaking to someone at the weekend who lives in the same area as his family and they are of the opinion they are all rangers fans.

If I remember rightly the same conversations or similar were being had about sima about this time last season.
He turned out no bad after all.
26 Sep 2024 10:47:37
I'm going to change my name.
25 Sep 2024 23:10:25
Ha stig I've been there before. You end up going full circle after canceling them and signing up again.
25 Sep 2024 23:06:53
Yeah it's maybe the bt account that let's you watch it. I've got discovery plus all set up on the sky stream and working but when I go in and select a game whilst in the app it takes me to a qr code to sign up to tnt so there's no other option to watch it in the app for me.
25 Sep 2024 21:15:37
How does it work fork? Any time I go in through sky to the discovery app it takes me to sign up to tnt without actually letting me watch it.
