Media rumour is that Goldson will be out weeks rather than months.

bluetoon

1.) 15 Oct 2022 10:50:05
Not the media. GVB has came out and said it will be months.

2.) 15 Oct 2022 10:57:40
BBC have quoted Gio saying it will be months in the last 10 mins. Davies should be able to play tomorrow and has shaken off the knock. Roofe also close to fitness.

3.) 15 Oct 2022 10:59:16
When has Gio said this Paul, months can mean 2.

4.) 15 Oct 2022 11:02:54
Frustrating thing is that it was an unnecessary injury, he was only stretching as he mistimed the first challenge.

Think we may see us play a back three with Sands, King and Borna.

5.) 15 Oct 2022 11:33:51
Ehl I can assure u we will never play a back three that includes borna.

6.) 15 Oct 2022 11:52:03
Borna in a back 3 lol he can’t defend as it is.

7.) 15 Oct 2022 12:03:30
Maybe watch the press conference chaps. Manager quoted saying "several months". Literal definition of several is more than 2.

8.) 15 Oct 2022 12:06:10
The day we play Borna in a back three, is the day the game is a bogey. Although, the way things are going with injuries, anything is possible. I dread to think! ?.

9.) 15 Oct 2022 12:18:16
John gio said it in his press conference today.

10.) 15 Oct 2022 12:19:10
We'll, I hate to break it to you, but during the early days under Gio, Borna tucked in and played as part of the backline on a number of occasions.

In fact, one of the Guys I'm doing my badges with used it as part of his video analysis evidence.

11.) 15 Oct 2022 12:35:06
Tjrfc now seen press conference, agree more than two, here’s hoping January.

12.) 15 Oct 2022 14:03:08
Iv been told grade 3 tear - operation - around 6 months.

13.) 15 Oct 2022 14:15:40
If Arfield burst the net with the chance he had instead of hitting the ball like a fairy towards goal then 20 seconds later We would've been celebrating a goal not allowing Liverpool to break which led to the Goldson injury.

14.) 15 Oct 2022 14:47:06
It was several months he said which to me means at least 4 at best but think it will be more.

15.) 15 Oct 2022 14:48:21
Yeah sweep it’s arfields fault Goldson got injured ?‍♂️ it’s quite funny you have been missing for a long time then come back after we have a couple of bad results.

16.) 15 Oct 2022 14:51:59
Aye Sweep and if Tav didn't play a hopeless, simple pass and if McGregor caught a simple bouncing ball then Liverpool wouldn't have got that corner. Ridiculous to blame Arfield.

17.) 15 Oct 2022 15:03:18
Barisic in a back three dear lord he’s been murder at left back he can’t defend he doesn’t get close to the attacking player yes he can put a great ball into the box but he was at fault for a few of the goals on Wed we payed five mill for a left back give him a chance.

18.) 15 Oct 2022 15:13:01
Sands in a back three no thanks either wouldn't have him in a back 6 way too many unwarranted mistakes.

19.) 15 Oct 2022 15:29:55
Just for the record, I'm not advocating for Borna in a back three.

But with Sands and King our only fit centre backs - not sure how big a risk playing Davies is - I can't see Gio playing them as a back two.

That leaves Jack or Lundstrum as an option at the back - we've seen both drop in at the back - or Borna, who we've also seen play in a back three at time during matches.

Given the injuries in our midfield and the availability of Ridvan, assume we'd see Borna fill in.

20.) 15 Oct 2022 15:48:19
Apparently Goldson tear same injury as Alf.

21.) 15 Oct 2022 16:42:20
Why would we play a 3 when we only have 3 people able to play centre back at the moment.

22.) 15 Oct 2022 16:43:18
Jack is injured how can he play at the back.

23.) 15 Oct 2022 17:02:07
this place is impossible at times.

24.) 15 Oct 2022 18:28:15
Ehl Jack is also out and it’s not short term gio said so it would be strange having him play as we have already played him when not fit this season by the looks of it.

Jack has been a great servant but he has to go now.

25.) 15 Oct 2022 18:43:31
Hearing exactly the same John26 ☹️
I'm a fan of connor goldson and think he'll be a big miss for us ?He was starting to hit his best form this season to, with a settled centre half partner at last ?In all probability we'll need to make do without goldson for the rest of the season ?.

26.) 15 Oct 2022 19:34:23
I agree storm … blaming arfield for Conner injury is ludicrous.

27.) 16 Oct 2022 02:07:57
Can see lundstrum and king being CB tomorrow.

28.) 16 Oct 2022 10:48:44
Lol blaming arfield ??? should blame not be with Wilson who buys injury prone defenders when we already have long term crock in helander then adding souttar lol then people act surprised when souttar hardly kicks a ball for us.

You get what you pay for and in this case absolutely nothing ?.

29.) 16 Oct 2022 16:41:01
TJRFC- an article by Football Scotland were reporting weeks rather months.
Incorrect info.

30.) 19 Oct 2022 17:28:59
Is it not concerning anyone that we are not looking at any short term out of contract players to cover CB even on a 6 month basis.

31.) 20 Oct 2022 19:53:32
Gofor, with the World cup break coming up I'd imagine that we'll wait till January.

19 Feb 2022 13:54:33
Was speaking to a fellow Bear this morning and he was saying that Jack had an operation on his back/ spine. Anyone confirm this?

bluetoon

1.) 19 Feb 2022 14:30:06
Can confirm he had two ops, one on the stuff we know about (calf/ knee), and another one less documented. May have been spine yes, because he looks a whole new man now.

2.) 20 Feb 2022 07:32:57
I did hear rumblings of that myself bluetoon, regarding jacko mate🤔I heard he had a several hours op on his back/ spine as well as the ops on his calf/ knee🤔That's obviously why he was out as long, which of course then led to speculation that he may have had to retire, thank god that's not true🙏John25, have you heard anything yourself, regarding this major back/ spine op, that jacko is rumoured to have had mate🤔.

3.) 20 Feb 2022 10:50:56
Walter nothing heard re back op.

4.) 20 Feb 2022 11:19:20
Walter, you might be right in that all these ops were all in one massive session. That might be it.

5.) 20 Feb 2022 13:59:16
It was his neck he has had problems with for years.

6.) 20 Feb 2022 17:42:54
Was Jordan Campbell in the Athletic. I no longer subscribe so can't see the full thing but this was quoted "It is understood Jack’s surgery was on his upper back, which is believed to have been identified as connected to the recurring calf issues which had interrupted his last 18 months. " Mentioned a 6 hour op.

7.) 21 Feb 2022 13:35:03
It’s one of the most common surgeries in football, op in the back to fix muscle injuries in the legs.

09 Jan 2022 15:33:54
Have read that the young Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville might be coming on loan. Anyone else heard this?

bluetoon

1.) 09 Jan 2022 15:59:09
Came off the bench today for Leeds and looked lively albeit it was a short spell.

2.) 09 Jan 2022 16:06:11
I heard that too, looks quite tricky, apparently scored a hatrick in the cup last week, might be one for down the road but I'd prefer one a bit more experience, my personal opinion is that's a position we need someone ready to hit the ground running right away.

3.) 09 Jan 2022 16:13:56
Hope not just watch him come on, looks like more interest in image, does look a bit light weight not any better that what we have, give our own young players chance first.

4.) 09 Jan 2022 16:41:39
I've read the stories also got a mention from the commentary when he came on for Leeds about a loan to us, he looked lively seemed to give Leeds a extra boost when he came on.

5.) 09 Jan 2022 17:12:39
We were very interested lastsummer before he joined Leeds.

6.) 09 Jan 2022 17:26:46
IT ain't NECESSARY SO. I've tried this before regarding Sommerville but nobody has clicked, WHY? guess I'm showing my age.

7.) 09 Jan 2022 17:28:15
Were we 55? Never heard of the boy until this window.

8.) 09 Jan 2022 17:42:28
Very short time to make an assessment. Looked lively, anything he tried didn't come off. Who knows?

9.) 09 Jan 2022 18:59:24
We were supposedly interested last year before he left Feyenord to join Leeds.

10.) 09 Jan 2022 19:05:28
I don't believe that we can say that we have better at Ibrox. We currently don't have a quality right winger and we haven't had for a number of years. Whether Summerville is the answer I don't know but we need to sign someone for that wing.

Personally I still think that we will sign Olsen, that is the quality that we need in order to compliment Kent on the left.

11.) 10 Jan 2022 12:00:30
55 i remember we were linked with him too. Looks a decent player and we really need to get away from old thinking of he's too wee is this the early 80's 😂 looks skillfull only thing i'd be worried about is his lack of goals but sayi g that with gio playing out and out wingers the main role will be creating looks like a decent player to me loan 6 months with option best bet. But like others would definitely prefer Olsen.

04 Jan 2022 19:02:23
Patterson away for £11.5 + add ons, on a 5 year contract. Good luck to the lad.

bluetoon

1.) 04 Jan 2022 21:32:38
Whats the break down of the deal and wheres the info coming from? Money up front etc.

2.) 04 Jan 2022 23:58:30
It was reported on 4 lads that it’s £9m upfront, £3m guaranteed and £4m in potential add ons. 15% sell on as well.

3.) 05 Jan 2022 03:54:39
Cheers dado.

4.) 05 Jan 2022 07:58:24
No worries Paul, it’s a great deal and hopefully any other players we choose to sell wil be similar in value.

5.) 05 Jan 2022 09:08:18
I was told by a very good contact in the banking game that it’s 11.5million up front… Rising to £16 million.

6.) 05 Jan 2022 11:09:07
Yately that is accurate IMO.

29 Dec 2021 16:31:04
Does anyone know anything about the rumour that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Xavi Simons, who is entering the final six months of his contract and that we have opened talks with super agent Mino Raiola about signing the 18-year-old at the end of the season.

Would be something if we could sign a PSG youngster.

bluetoon

1.) 30 Dec 2021 11:54:36
Would be something to sign a psg youngster you serious! We are the famous. Anyhoo doesn't matter where they come from only that they want to play for us and are good enough.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

Question for you guys - Do you accept mid season £15-20M for a player and lose the League or keep the player and win the league. Forget about the CL money. I keep reading that "we should have cashed in when we had the chance".

bluetoon

1.) 10 Oct 2022 18:26:24
Winning the league is a must for Rangers even if losing a 20m player.

2.) 10 Oct 2022 18:37:07
I'd say no - keep the player and go for the title.

3.) 10 Oct 2022 19:56:03
Win the league every time bluetoon.

4.) 10 Oct 2022 19:24:10
Football is about money nowadays. footballs a buisness. if your club needs that money to operate then it's silly not to cash in if it's not including cl. so as you say get 15 million for a player and lose a league that gives you a few million. any buisness man should see what they need to do. as a fan we all want to win every competition. Also as a fan we want to watch our club play at the top level. If that means we are financially stable then the player gets sold every time. take the cl into this tho. around 30 million income for cl if qualified. If winning the spl still gaurenteed cl qualification then that's a gamble for the powers that be to decide.

5.) 10 Oct 2022 20:18:44
You accept, the money and buy 2 maybe 3 quality additions and win the league.

6.) 10 Oct 2022 20:56:27
Win the league obviously. Folk on here stating players should a been sold after 55 which I can understand to a certain extent but would we have got to the europa league final without them?

7.) 10 Oct 2022 21:18:45
Obviously choose to win the league but it's never won and lost on one player and club also needs to look after future. Would selling midway have allowed for strengthening rest of team or help bring in another quality replacement winning anyway. If its Morelos your talking about for £15m look what we got Colak for. Or should we have kept Kent if had chance to sell based on one good season or half a dozen good games a season?

8.) 10 Oct 2022 22:51:46
Captain tav, eh, they asked a generic question yet you have taken winning 55 into it ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️.

9.) 11 Oct 2022 12:44:41
It's all ifs and buts. No-one knew beforehand that Kent and Morelos would down-tools the way they have. The much-maligned Ross Wilson has found us an able replacement already in Colak and Sakala and Matondo are a work in progress but a lot more promising for the future than Kent has been all season. You do what Matondo and Sakala do in situations like this and you keep marching. The league form is looking good again and we were more worried about that than we were about Kent and Morelos.

10.) 11 Oct 2022 18:08:16
Tks guys for your opinions on this. I was indeed thinking of Kent and Morelos but did not want to say this in the question incase it became a Kent/ Morelos discussion.
It is a difficult decision to make because we might win/ lose the league and the following season the player (s) worth that money mid season, the following season they might not be able to hit a barn door whilst holding the handle.

11 Sep 2022 09:01:57
John, your probably the one to answer this. I was reading this morning that we could have been hamstrung in us spending money due to the FFP as we are still on the UEFA watch list. Thans for your insight to this.

bluetoon

1.) 11 Sep 2022 09:58:19
If that is the case and we have been restricted by FFP then all everyone wants is a communication from the club to say so. The frustration among the support is that we have brought money in from transfers and the board have always said any money made would be reinvested in the team. This clearly hasn’t happened.

2.) 11 Sep 2022 10:13:23
Evèry club gets watched by eufa but we made millions so wed be fine to spend some of it with out any santios put on us.

{Ed001's Note - that's not what the watchlist means at all. Clearly you have no idea. It means you can't spend money because you are failing to meet their regulations and have to improve your finances to avoid sanctions in future.}

3.) 11 Sep 2022 10:41:57
Dave King is as concerned as us by the goings on at the club by the treatment of the supporters and of the financial side of the business.

You can bet the answer to why performance of the players have dropped is soon to be revealed.

Cheers all, (hopefully) .

4.) 11 Sep 2022 10:43:09
Ed is it not the case the club can only spend 70% of the income generated and aw the club were amongst many given dispensation during C.V. are now being watched yo make sure we meet the guidelines.

{Ed001's Note - I can't remember the exact numbers but yes, all those that have failed but been given dispensations due to CV are on the watchlist.}

5.) 11 Sep 2022 10:48:49
'FFP' is in the process of changing to a more robust set of regulations 'CLFS'.

The changes are being phased over the next 3-5 years, will become stricter each year and are expanding to take in to consideration multiple 'pillars' of Football Clubs as businesses.

We have been flagged on the watch list as the level of our expenses as a club was deemed a higher % of our income than permitted- however we were not found in breach due to a relaxation of FFP during C.V., which took in to consideration the loss of income streams during this time.

I mentioned it at the time of the Aribo deal, however our board have deliberately structured deals to ensure we have guaranteed income over the next few seasons.

It also explains why they've taken the decision to use this year's UCL money to accelerate the payment of capital investment projects - we take the hit in terms of spend now when our income is up and the rules are more relaxed and we increase our income streams for future years.

In effect what the board have done is flip our finances on their head, so were no longer chasing money and instead we have a structure in place where the money we make from Player Sales and European football will form the budget for the next year's squad additions.

6.) 11 Sep 2022 11:09:06
Brilliant EHL and thanks Ed for responding to DS .
Not having a go but his uninformed post is how rumours and bad feeling ( towards the club ) fester.

{Ed001's Note - it is worrying how ignorance is allowed to be spouted as information. Tabloids prey on it by writing ignorant nonsense and then people believe it because they read it.}

7.) 11 Sep 2022 12:24:41
I agree edd and it surprises me just how many people read the crap that these outlets spout and also that they are allowed to print the crap in the first place. National news outlets getting the freedom of press because their source is twitter etc.

8.) 11 Sep 2022 11:27:07
An article on Sky Sports' website details UEFA's new Financial Sustainability Regulations which came into force in June 2022.

You can read it here:

The aim by 2024 is that clubs cannot spend more than 70% of a club's revenue on wages, transfers and agents' fees.

I find it hard to believe that some of these massive spenders (e. g. Man City, Barcelona, etc) have not broken the previous financial fair play rules.

I agree with the point that the Rangers Board must be transparent and honest with fans about the current financial state of play.

9.) 11 Sep 2022 13:20:01
Wish uefa would put a sanction on us buying anymore injured players.

10.) 11 Sep 2022 14:20:53
Laudrup, apparently there is a new rule which says that a club playing in Europe are only allowed 3 sick beds but, and this is the big one. NO, repeat NO, pillow fluffing or spoon feeding.

11.) 11 sep 2022 14:35:21
i don’t think ds was trying to be mischievous, just doesn’t know much about
the ed has put him right now, so, am i right in thinking rangers can’t spend money in january.

12.) 11 Sep 2022 14:47:34
I'd imagine if we sell a player or some leave their wage would be able to be uses or a fee would be recycled. Maybe the club have to come out and explain to all fans what position is.

13.) 11 Sep 2022 15:36:55
TombThumb1212 - I think our bigger concern is with the wage bill - so can only see is adding if anyone moves on.

14.) 11 sep 2022 16:17:20
i agree eh, and thanks for the reply mate.

15.) 11 Sep 2022 17:38:33
Surely ffp will only be able to look at our last set of accounts where we lost 23mil from C.V. which fifa have given dispensation for. Its a non story if that's the case.

{Ed001's Note - no, it is done over a period of years, so they will take a few sets of accounts.}

25 Aug 2022 18:19:03
After that draw IMO we have a slight chance of finishing 2nd but a good chance of gaining 3rd.

Ed what's your thoughts with Liverpool?

bluetoon

{Ed001's Note - we always get bloody Napoli, but interesting group. Looking forward to it, it is a winnable group for all 4.}

1.) 25 Aug 2022 18:33:15
The only team I never wanted was Liverpool. Liverpool are, and have been since King Kenny's days, my 2nd team, but I know where my loyalties lie. Can't wait!

2.) 25 Aug 2022 18:46:51
Bluetoon first for me.

3.) 25 Aug 2022 18:46:52
Now Ed you've got bloody Rangers.

{Ed001's Note - could be an interesting couple of games, I am looking forward to them.}

4.) 25 Aug 2022 20:46:59
Ed can rangers beat Napoli in your opinion.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

23 Jul 2022 15:52:27
The defence have been pulled to bits in the 1st half. How Spurs have not scored with the chances they have had I do not know. The defence will have to improve by 100% in the 2nd half. Having said that we scored a good goal.

bluetoon

19 Jul 2022 18:57:55
Tonights team could be a starting team
McLaughlin
Tavernier Goldson Souttar Barasic
Jack Lumdstrum Kamara
Wright Colak Kent

Only Matondo and Lawrence of the "new" players are named on the bench
along with 4 of the youngsters.

bluetoon

1.) 19 Jul 2022 19:03:45
That is the starting team tonight
Just been published

Or do you mean could the be the starting team in the league?

2.) 19 Jul 2022 19:03:54
Any idea where tillman is?

3.) 19 Jul 2022 19:20:24
Middle of the park very defensive. Need a proper 10. Lawrence wojld ha e been ideal in there.

4.) 19 Jul 2022 22:03:56
Matonda will start in the league, he's too good to leave out.

John like you I love Aribo, however if he doesn't want to sign I think we should sell him, instead of letting his contract run down. I know we didn't pay a lot for him, but he is an asset that will devalue as the months go by.

OK call me what you want, but my team for tonight from kick off would include Devine, Yilmaz, King, and Matondo as far as youth goes. Also if the posters on here are wrong about McCanns behavior, would include him.

Sorry White Horse whilst I agree with playing some of the youngsters, if they were to be beaten Mayhem would break out. Some of the posters on here do not have patience and we must win every game. Could be why we don't see the youngsters playing instead of Kent, Kamara etc.

So you would keep Colak, Morelos, Tavernier, Barasic, King, and Davies from todays team

I agree with your list of get rid off, and would add Wright.

What happened to the "lets give the youngsters a chance. I am of the opinion that playing alongside Davies was not the best time for him to come on. One is trying to find their feet, the other requires a bit of guidance.
