I am hearing we are in talks with Puma to be our new kit makers next year. Anyone else hearing this?

Hope not never liked their stuff before.

Contract has two years to run.

We should be aiming for 1 of the 2 massive brands in adidas or Nike.

I think its likely we extend with castore when the time comes in a few years, ourselves and newcastle are their biggest sellers atm so they will be keen to keep us on. If it were up to me i'd be taking nike or even macron who came close when castore got it in 2019.

I heard Puma are trying to get a foothold in Scottish market. Aparently the deal is financial superb for the club. Blows Castore deal out the water. But I do see some of your points as the trainers etc are not the best.

Hope not. Their kits fit like wetsuits.

There was a rumour the other week that an Italian sportswear manufacturer was interested in buying Rangers out of the remainder of their castore contract.

Ideally Nike will come in due to Celtic having adidas that’s the obvious scenario. As with everything else we should go with the best deal financially for the club, I suspect castors will offer the best deal and we will likely be with them long term for many many years. We were their 1st football club and one of their 1st deals outside of tennis. We helped build the brand into an almost billion pound label. I’m sure they will hit that target in next 2 years.

14 Jul 2023 12:14:15
Don't care who it is, Just better be a good deal for the club.

11.) 14 Jul 2023
14 Jul 2023 12:35:53
I can 1000% confirm this is absolute nonsense. Puma will never touch us. That is from one of their top brass. This is either a wind up post or simply made up. Macron are very likely, Nike a possibility and Castore continuing also possible. Still a contract to run however as someone else has said.

12.) 14 Jul 2023
14 Jul 2023 12:38:19
Castore will be retained as kit supplier on a 2 Yr extension.

Castore deal is the best in Scotland in terms of profit share.

They make Man city, Dormund and AC Milan are all puma. I never realised that. Could be good actually. I have never seen Pep wearing puma trainers though to be honest. He wears DSQ.

Ibrox4me why would puma not touch us? Sounds like they have something against us can u elaborate mate? Cheers.

If rangers were to leave castore when the deal is up, i would honestly prefer us to have nike as our kit manufacturers because for me they're the best and the biggest sports manufacturers ?.

16.) 14 Jul 2023
14 Jul 2023 13:11:49
Ibrox4me, i agree with you mate and it was myself several weeks ago now who posted on here regarding macron possibly buying out the last year of our contract with castore and becoming our new kit manufacturers ?I was also told that money is very big but they want massive exposure and certain rangers things in their name ?Time will tell but i do prefer nike myself, if we were to leave castore ?.

17.) 14 Jul 2023
14 Jul 2023 13:32:15
Years left and to be honest whoever pays us the most I'm good with tops will sell regardless.

18.) 14 Jul 2023
14 Jul 2023 13:33:03
Ibroxforme: Why will Puma not touch us?

Incase we take them to court or something I presume? I think that's is unfair if that is the case we don't take everybody to court.

19.) 14 Jul 2023
14 Jul 2023 13:52:28
James bisgrove will make sure it's the very best deal for the club whoever becomes our kit manufacturers in the future ? So whether it's remaining with castore,
going to nike or macron or whoever,
it of course will be the manufacturer that gives our club the most money, no matter if it was puma,
new balance or anyone else etc ? I honestly don't care who it is as long as it's the best deal for our club, that's the b all and end all for me ?.

No buyout SWS. Unless something sensational happens with the club World Cup but even then, it smacks of potential legal challenges and I’d guess we’d want to steer clear of that hassle in future.

Stevie, there’s bad business history from our previous dealings with Puma plus the Fat Man is heavily involved with them. I have it on excellent authority that they wouldn’t want to deal with us again, and I’m happy with that.

Macron were close to working with the local team and are very credible. Castore may well wish to extend, and Nike is an outsider. Boring kits but have the size and scale and distribution links.

We don’t have a chain of stores. The current stores are owned/ operated by Castore, I think with the exception of Ed House. That makes staying with Castore a stronger case. Macron are the ones I’d be watching out for though.

2025 before a new deal would start.

I don't get the obsession with Nike.
As a runner I believe their stuff falls into 2 categories.
1. Overpriced without being incredibly higher quality/ tech compared to others.
or
2. Poorly manufactured. Anything that isn't overpriced tends to suffer quality-wise.

Using their running shoes as an example - The Alphayfly 2's are £280 and very good but no better than shoes £100 cheaper.
Or their Pegasus or Vomero lines which commonly have the glue seeping over the soles or poor stitching.

Ashley is not involved with Puma financially! Other than using the brand for retail outlets owned by him.

He has zero clout if that’s what you’re suggesting.

Yes I would imagine there is bad history with Puma and Rangers but a lot of this was caused by Ashley and his dealings and Puma weren’t great for us either.

Puma Make great strips

I would not be surprised by Rangers expanding with Castore and taking a bigger deal in the future and that the relationship will be mutual. However money talks.

Whether some like it or not Castore is the fastest growing brand in football. With a business hat on they are the brand you want to grow with as their stock and brand are at the forefront of the market right now and a fabulous alternative to the ‘big boys’

For me stick with Castore and piggy back off their current popularity and growth.

{Ed001's Note - Ashley has shares in Puma.}

Love it Ashley has nothing to do with them ?.

Ashley 100% has a tie into Puma.

Nike will most likely give us template designs that about 200 other teams around the world use if we were to sign with them, training gear would be great with nike though. Puma kits are shocking quality so i'm more than happy if there is no possibility of that happening. Whoever mentioned the Italian brand interested itll more than likely be macron who are a very solid option and good quality.

@bluerunner agree re nike running trainers, give me a pair of hoka's over nikes any day of the week.

Lidl offering the full kit with Lidl branding on it . £37 the lot including trainers, could do fine for any Cumbernauld residents going to Benidorm?

We have 2 years left on castore don’t even know why we are talking about this.
