Don't know if any other bear has heard that the rangers board are wanting to implement the same model structure, current in place at hearts. Hearing that we are in talks with Southampton director of recruitment, ross wilson, with the view of him becoming our director of football! The board i'm being told are looking at possible young coaches for what will be a head coach position, instead of the more overloaded manager position! Two names the board, i'm hearing are keen on for the head coach position are, barry ferguson and gio van bronckhurst! Has anybody heard anything about this?

11 Feb 2017 22:31:12
Supercoop gio maybe but Barry Ferguson I don't think is ready. Robbie neilson knows how that system works so maybe worth a look at him.

11 Feb 2017 23:48:31
Need a manager and that's it. Success in football over the years has been down to playing squad and a well respected manager. None of this who's in charge of this that and the next thing. One man to call the shots.

11 Feb 2017 23:54:23
Another wild rumour from super cooper. a guy with a good job at Southamton is going to come to us. at least give ure lies a bit of credibility.
On the other hand if u keep firing rumours like a machine gun u eventually get one right and I believe Fergie is the man to drag us forward.
Cue all the Barry haters😀

12 Feb 2017 00:27:57
Ross it's a rumour page what has supercoop done wrong posting what he has heard. That is what a rumour page is is it not.

12 Feb 2017 01:22:06
After five years, we are right back to square one again, no manager and no scouting system. Is this new manager going to be given a promise of funds to set up his own staff, and money to bring in new players in the transfer window, what about the players on contracts just now, if they are not fancied by the new management, can we pay them off or hope some club will buy them, what a mess we find our selves in again

12 Feb 2017 02:20:30
Wilson is a good call and it has been rumoured that he is wanting to return to Scotland. Another option would be Mitchell at Spurs. I like the idea of a young coach like Van Brookhurst but I would rather have Duncan Ferguson or Iam Ferguson than Barry Ferguson. It is way to soon for Barry.

12 Feb 2017 08:21:46
Ross Wilson has been successful at the saints in recent years due to his Celtic Season ticket scouting policy. Wanyama, Forster, VVD. It would make his travel day's easier being over the road at Ibrox, but he may be lost trying to convince one off 'them' to cross the divide.

12 Feb 2017 10:21:44
Ross wilson is a falkirk fan, all of those above mentioned celtic players are now established epl players and are highly rated down south, even if foster likes to drop a clanger now and then haha

12 Feb 2017 10:37:44
I think the point big cliff is making is that ross Wilson has made a name for himself at Southampton from making signings from Celtic, his scouting assignments don't seem to go very far

12 Feb 2017 14:27:07
Don't see it as square one but as a chance to move on.

12 Feb 2017 22:49:30
De boer is the next manager

13 Feb 2017 03:06:38
Rangers to win by 3! If the lads do not get up for this game against Morton then god knows. As long as Murty plays 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 then a game against a Championship team is a chance to show fans what there all about, fair enough Morton array no mugs but C'mon what do we want! Said it before but think Murty keeps position till end of season unless the guy is an horror show.
And Bears give me a list of players that will be off in summer outfit Sendaros I'm not 100% although I would like to see Wags go. OPINIONS BEARS

11 Feb 2017 20:19:39
Just seen on sky sports news that Mark Warburton met with Nottingham forest owner Al Hasawi this month but wasn't offered the job. That should stand rangers in good stead if it goes to court. Surely meeting the owner of another club without your own clubs permission gives us grounds to terminate his contract anyway.
Oh well, I held him in higher regards than he had for us rangers supporters. Cheerio Mr Magic Hat, good luck getting your dole money lol.

11 Feb 2017 21:36:29
Actually felt sorry for warbuton that things just didn't work out, ismuch as I wanted him to succeed at rangers for the person he made himself out to be, but after hearing all this I couldn't give a monkeys were he ends up, disloyalty to the club and support, used us as a stepping stone, no respect what so ever, I even thought more of Davie Weir RATS

11 Feb 2017 21:58:28
We should get John terry in as player manager just as one person suggested on here.

12 Feb 2017 02:21:18
And you shot me down in flames for that suggestion Rick Witter!

12 Feb 2017 11:29:40
Do you really think I'm being serious when I say that!

12 Feb 2017 12:18:56
I'm sorry, but anybody who thinks any player or manager doesn't use Scottish as a stepping stone is an idiot.

11 Feb 2017 17:47:19
Good source from major shareholder Alex mcleish and Barry Ferguson will be in for wednesday, I have been told Alex mcleish was approached first and he has demanded a transfer budget of 8million and it has been approved as long as high earners are removed from club, I have also found out as I stated weeks ago that Frank de boer was contacted on the 6 th January with his representatives saying he would only come in June, as it would give him time to source players.

11 Feb 2017 18:21:30
Single fish

11 Feb 2017 18:31:09
So If McLeish n Ferguson in on Wednesday then De Boer coming in June why would McLeish need £8million when transfer window is shut 🤔🤔

11 Feb 2017 18:37:51
This sounds a bit far fetched! Macleish as a caretaker manager until the summer I can understand but why bring him and Ferguson in and then DeBoer in July and where is Macleish going to spend the £8m when the transfer window is closed!

11 Feb 2017 18:58:36
I can accept Mcleish in the short term but I would be majorly disappointed if he was the perm manager as I really don't think he's that good a manager

11 Feb 2017 19:26:31
Whoever comes in in the short term will probably have zero to spend. Job will be to get the best out of what we have available. I would imagine a high profile name will be announced for next season in order to sell season tickets. That seems to be the way the board works but saying that they must be applauded for the handling of the current situation!

11 Feb 2017 20:38:13
Nope never, de boer is on a break and Indeed he's not sourcing players.

11 Feb 2017 20:49:26
McLeish is a good Bear but a chequebook manager. He was a success for 51 etc because he had the £9M for Boumsong to more or less buy a whole new team. When he had no money he struggled and during points times were very dark under him - the only highlight one season was Chris Burke breaking through.

In short, if he's to get funds, he will be a safe pair of hands, otherwise I have reservations about him.

12 Feb 2017 18:08:02
Frank de boer has denied any contact. Mcleish would be interim if anything just now. Maybe confirmed permanent in the summer if he improves significantly the performance of the team. Can't see anything permanent just now in my opinion. Would much prefer de boer as I think he would have the contacts and the knowledge of some gems from holland. Wishful thinking maybe, but one can only hope.

12 Feb 2017 18:11:45
Eastmains 16, i take it that your source is saying mcleish and ferguson are now going to be the new longterm management team, as opposed to frank de boer? Especially as your source said mcleish has asked for 8million quid which was approved, and we all know we can't spend any money just now as the window is closed!

12 Feb 2017 20:46:04
Get Souness in at least till end of season this could maybe lead to investment via his mate (can't mind his name) But yeah Souness would bring a smile to my face. Other than that come summer and Warbs has got us 2nd THEN leaves my first choice would be Redknapp with Barry as assistant but I know that's prob not going to happen BUT Harry has loads of experience and contacts knows and UNDERSTANDS how big we are and I think would do the job for a nominal fee. SO in short my list in order of preference.
1.Redknapp
2.Souness, till end of season.
3.DeBoer, Wages could be an issue.
4.Gattuso
5.McLeish
Think it would be an idea to get McCann involved coaching and getting Hill involved coaching with Weir off!

12 Feb 2017 21:17:01
I think what East mains means is FDB was approached first to arrive in the summer but as events unfolded this week it was clear that we need to bring in a manager sooner than that, hence the approach to McLeish and Barry to become the new management team. The 8 million would be provided for the next window in the summer

12 Feb 2017 23:26:38
I would like somebody like a Tim Sherwood or A Franco Zola, I have no idea the availability of either or how much it would cost, but that's who I'd like

11 Feb 2017 14:21:56
Might just be here for the golf but Frank De Boer is staying at Loch Lomond. If only.

11 Feb 2017 15:44:48
Well remember Joey was there too!

11 Feb 2017 21:06:21
Frank de Boer live on sky sports Spanish football coverage of real Madrid game right now. Maybe confusing him with Ronald? ;)

11 Feb 2017 21:35:13
He's here to see the Rangers beat Morton

11 Feb 2017 08:59:09
We now need someone that can secure 2nd spot and work wonders with the squad we are left.

Dont think Walter is in the frame.

Hope it isn't Billy Davis.

Thoughts peeps any ideas Prob Big Alex.

11 Feb 2017 10:08:17
Id take bug eck and alex rae until the end of the season see how they get on, if anything they will have the team figgting for everything

11 Feb 2017 10:40:28
Alex rae? Get a grip. ask Walter Smith to get us second. then maybe big eck or i'd have a shot in the dark with alan pardew

11 Feb 2017 10:50:59
Eck would stabilise the defence stop the dangerous passing at the back and make us difficult to beat but to be honest I would prefer next seasons proposed manager to take over that way he can work with current squad and identify players to stay or go and maybe save some players gers career for example big kiernan can defend if he cuts out the stupid passing with the right coach he may prove to be a talent.

11 Feb 2017 11:14:58
Whens the last time big eck managed fs

11 Feb 2017 11:27:34
Alex rae as assistant Chinabairn

11 Feb 2017 11:58:18
Good call Chinabairn, Pardee could be the type of Manager we need

11 Feb 2017 12:02:32
@punter - big eck or alex rae? **** me we'd be as well padlocking the gates the now! WS? No thanks. We've now reaped what we've sowed.

11 Feb 2017 12:12:38
McLeish done very well with Genk who were 4th bottom in their league when he took over, he got them a 5th top finish with the same underachieving players, look what he did with Rangers and Scotland? , be good to have until end of the season but i don't know who would be best to take over full time

11 Feb 2017 12:49:55
I'd be looking at Pardew, or at a push Sean Dyche.

11 Feb 2017 13:06:34
Or maybe pochitinio or anceloti can I visit your planet or do I need some sort of visa lol 😁

11 Feb 2017 13:16:59
ahahahhaha sean dyche, cheers for the laugh scottish87

11 Feb 2017 13:34:48
Can someone please tell me why they don't want Billy Davies considerred? What has he done that is so bad? Surely his private life is just that and as long as he is good at football coaching. Thoughts please.

11 Feb 2017 12:30:13
Mibi Alex Rae might no b the best choice as a number 2 but he would bring the passion and the belief back good shout

11 Feb 2017 14:05:08
I agree with you dunbar blue! Billy davies is a better coach than any of them! This wee guy is a terrific coach and is made of steel! Forget his private life, within reason of course!

11 Feb 2017 14:17:18
Hope not if he was to get the job I would not be back remember fellow bears let's not condemn mw before getting the facts. mr king has a lot to answer for he was The one quoting figures about how much money he would inject

11 Feb 2017 14:18:44
Billy Davies has failed every time he tried to get promotion from the Championship where is his track record of success. Likewise Pardew as he has failed at every club he has been at. I cannot understand the fascination with either.

11 Feb 2017 16:01:07
Think billy davies won playoffs with derby county! Guy has a great track record in english championship! Which is arguably the most competitive league in europe!

11 Feb 2017 17:09:17
It's an outside shout but I would love someone like Tim Sherwood. He currently has a directors role at Swindon. And I imagine he would have clauses that allow him to take up managers roles with little compensation. I am pretty uninspired by the names being mentioned so far. Whoever it ends up being, he needs a lot more backing in the transfer windows.

11 Feb 2017 18:45:55
Dunbar Blue, you say forget Davies private life but we are Rangers, not them in the East End! His friendship with Tommy Sheridan is well documented. Sheridan is a vile individual and unfortunately for Davies mud sticks. If you sleep with dogs you get fleas. We have enough issues with our credibility given the bunch of scoundrels that has been associated with our club over the past five years!
There are plenty of quality managers that would take the Rangers job that would do a good job and that portray the appropriate image for a Club of our standing.

11 Feb 2017 18:46:48
Im up for billy davies being given a chance. at least till end of season Bears?
McLeish has had his chance. wee billy might b pals wi perma tanned tommy but he could be worth a punt. FDB long term could b great if billy don't cut it. We no wat mcleish is about. Different era.

11 Feb 2017 19:20:54
I guess we must come from different generations. I want a manager that warrants respect both on and off the park. Sorry but Davies is not that person.

11 Feb 2017 20:17:31
What has davies done to merit such moral outrage TOMUSA? I mean that sincerely. i have no time for Sheridans politics but i'm not aware of davies being accused of any nefarious criminal activity. unless u can tell me otherwise mate?

11 Feb 2017 20:45:13
Tony pulis would be a good choice but to be honest do u think any of the names mentioned would want to come to Ibrox with the mess we are in a chairman who has promised so much but failed to deliver.

11 Feb 2017 21:18:19
Mols, you say billy davies has failed as a championship manager in england? Do you know anything what davies has achieved? Let me educate you on billy davies mate. He got derby county PROMOTED, YES PROMOTED from the championship to the premiership, while he was their manager! He took every team he managed to the play offs at the very least.

Preston and notts forest twice! Check it out for yourself! He holds the all time record in the championship in history, of having WON the most manager of the month awards! His record up until his last few months with forest in his 2nd spell there, has been superb, with all his championship clubs!

He had a disagreement with the forest board over promised transfers! Hope that answers the billy davies haters, of the wee man's ability when folk don't know what they're clearly talking about!

12 Feb 2017 02:34:48
4everinroyalblue, I suggest that you read excerpts from Sheridan's perjury trial or the various Press Reports at that time. Davies would simply destroy the little credibility that we have left if he was given the job when there are numerous other candidates with significantly better credentials out there.

12 Feb 2017 17:16:52
Nic

You are correct he did get promotion with Derby but was sacked very quickly in his premiership career. Ultimately he has failled to make the grade at the top level and has track record of falling out with his various boards

12 Feb 2017 17:19:05
David Wagner. no harm in asking.

12 Feb 2017 22:31:50
Super I am well aware of his record but must admit I had forgotten that he had got Derby promoted to the premiership. It has to be said he is considered not good enough to manage in the premiership as he has worked there for half a season. I am not aware of his private life so have nothing to say on this.

The fact that he has got to the play offs so often with a great chance of promotion only to fail when it really matters, I consider to be consistent failure

We are allowed to disagree on this. I mean the man no harm and my opinion like yours really means nothing but not for me

13 Feb 2017 00:26:35
What planet are u on Mols. Pardew took west ham up. took newcastle into Europe for the 1st time in 20 years. took Palace and West Ham to FA Cuo finals. and West Ham were seconds away. denied by a Gerrard wonder goal. of beating European champions at the time. in fact 5 years ago when at newcastle he won LMA Manager of the year award. Top award in England for a manager. he'd find the SPL a piece of pish

13 Feb 2017 10:42:11
Yes Tom the media will be rubbing their hands if that wee sleaze ball gets the job

11 Feb 2017 07:58:23
Do we honestly think the board will come out and say anymore before game tomorrow? My thoughts is warburton was getting his move away and it's totally back fired but why now?

11 Feb 2017 09:09:20
A good shout for me would be gio van bronckhorst! always loved the rangers and doing a good job at feyenoord, where money isn't spent massively.

11 Feb 2017 09:26:23
rangers thought he would have got the nottingham forest job and so did warburton earlier in the week.
this never came off so warburton tried to come back and carry on at rangers like nothing happened.

Board done the correct thing and forced him out the door as he is not fully committed to rangers and we have a important cup game this weekend that if warburton stayed in charge i feel we would have struggled in this game again.

11 Feb 2017 09:44:40
No, why start being open and honest now. This is just another f-ing embarrassment to add to Dave Kings repertoire. How the hell can the management team resign if they don't even know they had done so.

Something is clearly wrong at Rangers and it's not getting any better with King and Co at the helm. And here's another thing, where the hell is our managing director?
Not seen nor heard from him for a while yet he's taking home a hefty wage and bonus for it!

11 Feb 2017 10:11:10
Yogi bear,

Which part of last nights dealings are you unhappy about?

Would you have preferred that the board keep the management team in place after they made it clear they wanted to move on?

Can't see how that would motivate a player and can't see how planning for our future would benefit from that.

DK and co did the right thing and showed the world exactly how MW viewed RFC. Now they need to delivery an even better prospect as manager even until the end of the season to get us back on track.

11 Feb 2017 10:14:47
are you for real

11 Feb 2017 10:22:57
Another stunt to fill ibrox on Sunday and sell books, usuall

11 Feb 2017 10:41:48
Any coincidence Tommy Wright also resigned last night?

11 Feb 2017 10:41:00
unbelievable people still backing warburton he was out his depth at our great club and now it shows now how much his head was in the job if he is down at forrest for interview at first drop of the hat and no magic one either good riddance.

11 Feb 2017 11:54:26
The management teams agent thought he had a deal with another team but that team (Nottingham Forest) decided to wait until the end of the season before making a decision. The agent approached Rangers to say they would stay until the end of the season but the board said 'no, you can't have another go' as did SDM with Souness when Liverpool came calling you can go immediately. Only one winner in these scenarios.

11 Feb 2017 12:05:24
@robbo17 - Gio VB? Some fans have very unrealistic ambitions for new manager!

11 Feb 2017 18:48:23
It sounds to me like the Management Team's Agent was trying to be a smart arse and he got it wrong, totally wrong! If Warburton and his cronies want to sue someone then they should go after him. The joy of Football Agents!
