Rangers set to make a bid of around £1.5 million for Scotland's Grant Hanley.

A show of intent if the rumours are true.

12 Jun 2016 22:46:44
Waste of 1.5 million.

12 Jun 2016 23:05:17
Can't see us spending that on one player.

13 Jun 2016 01:54:35
To much money for him I feel we would get someone more mobile with pace for same or less money in my opinion he isn't worth anywhere near £1.5million.

13 Jun 2016 10:18:40
No chance,1.5 million, for Hanley, I don't think we would spend that much this season, maybe the season after, Hanley would do well up here, yeah he's slow but I just want a defender to defend first an foremost not play silky soccer.

13 Jun 2016 11:14:49
hanley is better than what we have so any improvement would be welcomed although I do think we could get better if we are going to spend money!

13 Jun 2016 11:33:50
No chance of spending that money on him.

13 Jun 2016 13:22:39
Mariappa for free would be a far better shout.

13 Jun 2016 17:32:47
Oh please don't let it be true.

13 Jun 2016 20:50:14
Would rather have Aaron Hughes!

14 Jun 2016 14:30:10
mariappa s there anything in this or still speculation at the moment.

12 Jun 2016 17:11:48
heard mcparland is at the poland v NI game tonite

obviously lafferty to look at but what about cathcart?, decent defender
even some of the polish players?
anyone think of anybody else worth a shout.

12 Jun 2016 17:26:41
I honestly feel like Lafferty is about the best we can attract in terms of quality right now, in all honesty if he performs in the group stages he will get better offers than us! Cathcart is playing at a higher level so don't see it!

12 Jun 2016 17:29:53
Wouldn't mind that lewandowski, looks alright.

Haha.

12 Jun 2016 17:58:05
Would he get a game in front of saggy?

12 Jun 2016 18:19:35
Lafferty looks like a headless chicken! Running all over the place but achieving less than nothing. Personally I hope we sign the Welsh guy that we are apparently interested in.

12 Jun 2016 18:33:00
Don't think lafferty is the answer, but he can only work with what he getting and at the moment he isn't getting the service.

12 Jun 2016 18:59:47
Don't see anything wrong with lafferty imo, he's matured tonnes and you can't judge him on tonight's performance as he had poor service.

12 Jun 2016 19:03:20
The Polish young midfielder who's 19 cracking player, would do nicely in the rangers jersey.

12 Jun 2016 19:22:13
Jonny Evans?
Too expensive?

12 Jun 2016 20:43:00
What a load of nonsense he got no service what so ever. He scored more goals than any Scottish striker in the qualifiers that's for sure.

12 Jun 2016 22:26:10
Is 19 not zeilinski who Liverpool have just bid 9.5 million for.

12 Jun 2016 19:16:43
What about wales striker rosbin-kanu, he's a free agent and mcfarland knows him from his time at reading.

12 Jun 2016 23:40:42
McP there to watch McGovern, (Accies keeper) I reckon.

13 Jun 2016 10:02:14
Kaputska was their talented young player; but Arsenal were interested in January as will other top clubs now. Think he'd be out our price range they value him at around €5m which will probably go up this Euro's, good player though!

13 Jun 2016 11:22:27
never did rate lafferty and hope there is no truth in this.
its only my opinion the guys work rate is second to none when he is off the ball he runs and runs and runs. but i'm afraid that's all he can do imo.

13 Jun 2016 22:17:22
Lafferty would Score for fun in that team matured no end get him signed.

12 Jun 2016 16:35:20
Friend of mine has just told me weir has convinced Leon osman and Tony hibbert to sign a one year deal to help rangers compete this year, I personally do t think it's true but bin told it by my mate who is actually good mates with hibbo so don't no y he would make this up, what's your thoughts on that lads, ps good luck this season boys.

12 Jun 2016 16:47:27
Tony hibbert good player in my opinion and never got the plaudits he deserved at everton.

12 Jun 2016 17:10:25
Leon Osman would do a job, good on the ball and a grafter too! Hibbert not one I'm out my seat about but has experience and undoubtedly a better defensive option than Tav!

12 Jun 2016 17:35:21
As I say I can't see it but just what a friend told me, personal opinion would be both players would do a job short term for yas.

12 Jun 2016 18:20:46
I would take Osman for a season. Not a fan of Hibbert.

12 Jun 2016 18:55:19
Is Hibbert not it about 105?

13 Jun 2016 11:24:51
don't think hibbert is better than tav no chance tav had three bad denfensive games all season the rest he was solid and a great attacking threat which is what you want a wb to be.

12 Jun 2016 15:57:40
Heard rumours sone aluko is a target.

12 Jun 2016 16:42:19
He's going to Birmingham city.

12 Jun 2016 16:46:23
I hope your right mate.

13 Jun 2016 11:26:41
sure he has already agreed to go to Birmingham and still has a chip on his shoulder about rangers.

would be good to see him up here again but he was trying to sue us if I remember correctly.

12 Jun 2016 13:51:12
there has been thoughts at ibrox of giving goodwillie a six month contract on bare wages to see if he can reproduce his earlier promise whether it will happen don't know.

12 Jun 2016 15:30:21
hope not.

12 Jun 2016 15:37:35
Nonsense!

12 Jun 2016 16:22:11
Never a warburton signing.

12 Jun 2016 16:49:25
I don't believe it either but i wouldn't say its never a warburton signing most of his signings last season was players with potential who lost there way a bit i'd say goodwillie falls into that category.

12 Jun 2016 13:38:22
Right where do I start. first things first, Mark warburton and davie weir has turned our club around BIG time over the past 8 months, credit to them both, secondly, Dave King and co has done an equally great job, woke up this morning to Mark warburton has knocked back a new contract? Ok, maybe he just the press with they're second guessing, but here's hoping this isn't true, but here's the thing, do you think if this is true? It could be a case of Dave King not being happy with us losing the cup final, and thinking, maybe we'll need to see how this year pans out before we commit? Just a suggestion lads/ ladetts what do uz think?

12 Jun 2016 13:51:18
I wouldn't offer MW a new contact till we see how this season pans out. All we achieved last season is what was expected of us. yes we did it in style which was also great. I hope things can continue going the way they have been since arrival of DW and MW though and I'm certain they will.

12 Jun 2016 13:51:25
No way. Board will be desperate to keep him. If true it will be coming from Warbs. But don't think it's any great cause for panic. We've got to be realistic. I reckon when he signed his dream scenario would be season 1-championship title, season 2-premiership title, season 3-champions league experience- and then he'd be off. He's not a manager who's going to be with us for the long haul I'm afraid. Too ambitious. I just hope A) he's willing to turn down better financial offers for a short while in order to achieve something before he goes, and B) by the time he leaves the foundations laid re youth setup, scouting, one club philosophy, club culture, are built to last.

12 Jun 2016 14:20:31
The gaffers still got another 2 yrs, he might go after his contract is done.

12 Jun 2016 14:19:54
Have to disagree about waiting to see, ok we were always going to win the championship, but Warbs has a vision, he has implemented quality and effective football and is attracting well known players to the club as well as promising youngsters.

12 Jun 2016 15:00:31
Joscro. All of what you've said rings very true.

That's why the stories start to get a little boring I suppose.

Could kind of see this story coming. Media have their allegiances but don't realise when they spew these stories it just makes the fan base even more stronger and more determined if that's possible for the new season.

12 Jun 2016 15:31:52
I agree Warbs has done well this year but he would been sacked if we didn't go up, so really nothing has changed! He has done what was expected! I have.

12 Jun 2016 16:31:59
In my opinion nothing is different. He has two years to run and as Egilostenstad said, he was probably never going to extend it. I'm pretty surprised DK offered an extension after the cup final mess when MW was on holiday and unsurprising is he rejected it. What is important is that he stays until the job is done, leaving before then would be criminal and all good work would be lost!

12 Jun 2016 16:38:23
To be honest the total radio silence from Warbs since cup final is a little strange.

Not saying that this story is true but Stuart Davidson did come out and confirm that we were in talks with the manager recently and we haven't heard anything since.

I feel like he should have waited until it was signed and sealed before talking about news deals if there was a chance it might not go through.

Like I said. Not saying that this story is accurate but I get the old 'No smoke without fire' feeling on this one.

12 Jun 2016 17:13:15
Agreed the Campbell. Now t-8 till preseason is fully underway with no Defenders in! This speculation will do us no good in attracting permanent signings.

12 Jun 2016 17:55:23
I cant' see what all the fuss is about.

Firstly OP the Scottish Cup was never factored into the planning process and was a total bonus.

Secondly, as someone said, wait to see what pans out and take it from there, if he does a good job then he will be given a contract offer, if he doesn't (but he will) then we dodged a bullet.

Things are in better shape on and off the field than previous years and we have a reasonable chance at success next season.

12 Jun 2016 19:07:07
Just catching up on this, can someone confirm:

1. MW on 3 year deal with 2 years remaining
2. A few weeks back his salary was significantly increased
3. Assume recent salary increase did not change 2 years remaining on contract?
4. We are now having discussions about extending contract beyond 2 reaming years?

12 Jun 2016 19:24:59
MW not back hols yet, would he let an agent release news on contract discussions?
Would he risk not attracting new players by admitting uncertainly regarding his contract?

12 Jun 2016 15:02:44
Haha, took you long enough to win it, please beat Celtic this year, can't stand them.

12 Jun 2016 15:28:22
Dont imagine he would have the power to sack long service staff and rearrange backroom team i'd he himself was leaving, although I have an inkling Derek McInnes is a certain future gaffer, good manager and big fan.

13 Jun 2016 11:40:26
if warburton left i'd actually cry, I think the guy is the best thing since sliced bread (pun intended)

I think he has a three year plan with us and he will be off after he sees out his three year plan.

and after that time I agree mcinnes is a great manager what he has accomplished with basically no money is great with the sheep and he would be a good replacement as someone else who has the philosophy of playing nice football.

12 Jun 2016 11:08:03
Heard from a source that rangers are looking at being Steven fletcher in on a free transfer and also kolo toure.

12 Jun 2016 15:08:12
Been hearing these ones for ages now but haven't seen any news on it bar on this page.

13 Jun 2016 11:41:52
please not fletcher imo he has never been worth his wage and very overated by some I take kolo in a heartbeat though I was sceptic when I first heard about it.

12 Jun 2016 11:38:49
Rangers are trying to sign Hamilton keeper Michael McGovern!

12 Jun 2016 12:51:39
Mcgoverb is definitely not good enough, think a bit out off the box rangers plz.

12 Jun 2016 13:33:09
Out of the box! Ha!

12 Jun 2016 11:16:46
I can confirm that Rangers have today submitted an offer of £575K with add on's for Tom Bradshaw.

12 Jun 2016 12:01:03
How can you confirm Hong Kong Blui?

12 Jun 2016 13:28:59
He Cant.

12 Jun 2016 13:34:16
Could this be a load of fooey, from Hong Kong Blouie?

12 Jun 2016 15:39:05
I'm friends with Graeme Park and Warburton and Mcparland have been on the trail of Bradshaw for some time now. Graeme and the rest of the Rangers Board have sanctioned the offer.

12 Jun 2016 15:48:11
Didn't doubt you for a second HKB, just too good an opportunity for a corny quip 😂.
