Can ED001 or any other ed clear this
up?
As Barrie McKay is only 17 the SPL
rules only allow a 3 year contract to
be signed. Surely SFL and SFA must
know their own rules.
Does this make this contract null and
void? Neil T {Ed001's Note - the rule you are referring to is for apprenticeship contracts, a full pro contract has a limit of 5 or 6 years. The 3 year rule is purely to stop clubs keeping younger players on low pay for the long term. It gives them a chance to find a new career and start anew if they are not getting a full pro contract. People are reading the rules but missing important words. On or after his 16th birthday, a player under 18 years of age may, on his signing a professional form for a club, enter into a Contract of Apprenticeship with the club concerned for a period not exceeding three years. That is Rule 120, the one people are taking to mean a player under the age of 18 can only sign for 3 years. What it in fact means is that a player under the age of 18 may sign apprentice forms, but an apprenticeship may only last for 3 years. That has no bearing on a player being able to sign full professional terms on a longer length of contract. It is the difference between leaving school and getting a proper job or signing up as an apprentice at the same firm.}

Neil why are you asking the same question on here and the sceptic page? Get a life saddo nothing to see here.Your own ed told you the same thing.

You also say spl rules.Rfc are not in spl.but your grassping at straws here, ed has put you straight away back to school and learn to digest/breakdown and understand what you read

Oh mr.timmy go back to your own site you sad sad person nothing better to do with your time ? And get it right first eh !

Rangers aren't in the Spl ..So why should they abide by their rules ..Obsessed then,Obsessed Now ,Obsessed Forever ..Thats the Celtic way...RTID

Obsessed?!?! It's gone much further than that now

Infatuated perhaps

You can't blame timmy for their obsession with TRFC.....for good or bad we are the only news in town

God is this the best we can do ? I fear for our future before its even started w.a.t.p r.t.i.d

We need new younger scottish players why is anybody with a differnt opinion called a timmy or dhim we are all rangers fans we might not all agree but name calling is sad

Who's right ed says contract
for young barrie is o.k
sfa in todays sun saying its
wrong over to you ed ...
Hope your right ed by the
way {Ed001's Note - the S*n is an imbecilic rag, they have no qualms in making up stories to suit whatever they want. Whether Scottish or English variant, I can only say 'Don't Buy The S*n', it is filth. Now, having got that off my chest, they are wrong, the rule clearly states 'may' sign a 3 year apprenticeship contract. There is nothing there to say that a professional player may not sign a full length professional contract, because that would quite simply be a breach of UK employment law and they wouldn't be able to enforce it.}

Cheers ed
don't buy it mate found it lying on bus
mate lol {Ed001's Note - I personally wouldn't soil my hands by picking it up!}

Ed, I don't think that's quite right. The apprenticeship contracts are not used in Scotland. At 16 a player signs a full pro contract, but these can only last three years until the player is 18. {Ed001's Note - the rule that keeps getting quoted refers to apprenticeship contracts, so they must be available. There is certainly nothing in the rule to say a player has to sign, merely may sign, a 3 year contract.}
