16 Aug 2018 22:13:36
Hi everyone, Rangers put out a very good side tonight Maribor are way better than Athens no doubt about that. Another strong performance well done Rangers and well done Stevie G who is showing that he's a great coach and very tactically aware. And with the English value calculator Goldson and katic Tav and Jack are all worth at least 15 million each. c'mon us.

17 Aug 2018 12:48:33
Athens miles ahead of Maribor mate. greek champions compared to a side in a league much poorer than the spl.

17 Aug 2018 12:54:55
We should offer all 4 a new contract and set a release clause of about 15mil stop clubs biding cheap.

17 Aug 2018 13:12:34
Let's calm doon abit. These players are just signed. No new contract until we win things or players show value over season.
As for halliday still don't rate him but prepared to give him a chance in a better rangers team.

The test is playing celtic. Then we will see where we are.
I'm quite confident we will have a very good season.

17 Aug 2018 16:49:10
Dunfermline loyal, Maribor are more than 50 places above Athens in the Uefa coefficients.

16 Aug 2018 21:44:48
I know that some on here will think that I a a wee bit biased but given where we were when Dave King took over and where we are now, he must be the best Chairman we have had in recent times.

He has led us from financial ruin with no team or structure to a position of stability with a solid foundation.

After a couple of poor appointments, he has brought in Mark Allen and then Stevie G and provided the financial support to assemble a really strong squad that is light years away from last year.

Court cases galore take the gloss off but just perhaps he is the street fighter that we needed to wrestle control away from Ashley, Green, Whyte etc?

Murray led us to the cliff edge and everyone since has bee ruinous for the club until DK formed a dodgy alliance to wrestle control away from the previous regime - Snow White he is not but he ain't Darth Vader either!

IOM - the floor is all yours!

17 Aug 2018 00:38:47
I was with you till you started moaning about Murray. Did you complain when we where signing all those great players? Not one person did. He chased a dream for us and only just failed twice.

17 Aug 2018 01:09:54
Dave King takes a lot of stick, without him and the three bears we would still have ashley and the other mugsšŸ‘.

17 Aug 2018 06:30:51
Good start so far. Two friendlies 75 k fans make about one million
Four qualifiers make at least four million from 200 k fans, tv, corporate, catering etc. Also 700 k from UEFA so far
Let's get past Ufa in to groups ten million to be made, not sure many expected this
All we need to do is sell our tops, we are slowly getting there.
Our fans are the greatest.

17 Aug 2018 07:45:56
Southend, no I didnā€™t complain about Murray and wouldnā€™t criticise him now either because he did what he thought was right and gave some good years.

If you read my post, I am comparing how far DK has taken the club (from very lowly and weak situation) whereas Murray took over a relatively stable and successful club and made it more successful until the crash.

17 Aug 2018 08:19:09
David Murray deceived the fans and relied on fans trust and his businesses to hide this. He kept telling everyone how much money he personally put into the club when that wasnā€™t the case. He then sold the club to one of the biggest charlatans in the country despite being told by members of the board not too.

17 Aug 2018 08:58:54
Look DK has his faults but what he and the rest of the board has done whilst being hamstrung with ridiculous contracts is nothing short of remarkable. Weā€™ve went all in on SG and this team. A gamble that was worth taking imo and I know itā€™s early but who on here would have thought we were 2 games away from the Europa league.
Let that sink in for a minute.

17 Aug 2018 09:57:03
Jboy. Look at the figures for reaching the group stages. We will not make 10s of millions. Maybe 6-7 at a push.

17 Aug 2018 11:16:36
Marco never said tens of millions. I said we would make ten million
Let's see how it pans out
I'd say about five million gate receipts, 2.3 million for getting there.
Tv money, not a lot, corporate, catering etc
Money for wins, draws hopefully, so let's be optimistic, IF we get there.

17 Aug 2018 11:17:23
Totally agree colster.

17 Aug 2018 11:56:23
The figures are in Euros but still:

Play-off round elimination: ā‚¬300,000
Base fee for group stage: ā‚¬2,920,000
Group match victory: ā‚¬570,000
Group match draw: ā‚¬190,000
Group winners: ā‚¬1,000,000
Group runners-up: ā‚¬500,000

It could add up rather quickly in the group stage with the base fee for making the groups.
If a ticket was Ā£20 x 50,000 fans that equals Ā£1m per game revenue.

So let's say Ā£2.6m for reaching, Ā£3m for gate receipts and be negative and say we win 1 and draw 1 game in the group, that's a total of Ā£6.36m plus TV, sponsorship and what not.

Let's compare that to last season and see how far we have progressed! In SG we trust!

17 Aug 2018 14:11:33
out of 6 games i'd be hoping for a lot more than 1 win and 1 draw lol.

17 Aug 2018 18:25:25
Any money in Europe for us at the minute is a bonus. Hopefully pay off some debts and improve squad again in January.

17 Aug 2018 20:29:55
Colster I said on here a month or so ago that I didn't think we hat a cat in hells chance of getting to the group stage! How wrong I was it's been a staggeringly good start from Stevie and the boys and I for 1 can't wait to see what lies in wait for us this season, 10/ 10 so far it's been brilliant so far.

17 Aug 2018 20:36:05
Letā€™s get to the group stage first gentlemen. talk about counting your chickens?

16 Aug 2018 21:27:08
No posted in a while fellow bears but have to say I'm really pleased with how SG's campaign has kicked off, vast improvements made compared to previous seasons, obviously still early days but it's filled me with some confidence going forward, might have landed ourselves a wee gem here in Gerrard, long may the winning ways continue!

16 Aug 2018 22:50:35
Gerrard has to deliver he's a missive name in football and will wanting to convert all of his hard earned work as a world class player into Management

Massive player + Massive club = Success

C'mon Gerrard and Staff keep it coming and the fans will always love you We are right behind you big man!

17 Aug 2018 07:20:49
I just hope we do get right behind the manager and team through thick and thin. There will be times where players will get injured, suspended and lose form. We can't play well or win every game but what we do have is a bond within the team and the fighting spirit and siege mentality of some of our great sides of the past. Loving it, bring it on!

17 Aug 2018 09:43:30
Think if and when fit. Rossiter will be that player and a huge one at that.

16 Aug 2018 21:14:51
How much is big Shagger worth? English sides spending silly money on goalkeepers and we (re) sign McGregor for nothing! What a display tonight. All the boys were excellent, Morelos, Goldson, Tavernier, Katic, Ejaria, Murphy, all of them. But. what a performance by Shagger. That big man will be worth 10 points to us this season.

16 Aug 2018 22:03:20
Great professional performance tonight. Gerrard got his tactics spot on as well. Still not convinced by Ejaria tbh. Jury is still out there for me. Far too casual at times.

16 Aug 2018 22:24:38
Brilliant result. Back line weā€™re outstanding and McGregor a class above. Donā€™t agree with Ejaria though. Still tries unnecessary flicks and turns when he doesnā€™t need to. That one when he was on touch line and tried to spin two of their players was daft in my opinion.

16 Aug 2018 22:38:42
Donā€™t forget Halliday and Arfield well done boys.

17 Aug 2018 01:16:16
Agree guys, Ejaria gives the ball away far too cheaply and especially in our own half. Is it true there is a clause in his loan that he has to play a certain number of games because I would much rather have another player in the midfield 3.

17 Aug 2018 09:14:47
I think old firm day our midfield should be Jack Arfield Coulibaly they are honestly in my opinion a very balanced hard working 3 Jack covering the defensive line. Coulibaly box to box and Arfield can pick a pass and be creative and the 3 of them love a tackle.

17 Aug 2018 12:48:04
The way things are going McGregor will be worth even more than 10 points over the season.

16 Aug 2018 21:07:31
Well done Stevie g and the lads terrific achievement going through against a quality side even had internationals on the bench the work they done off the ball was unbelievable what a difference in there mentality and fitness this season couldn't be happier and well done Andy Halliday.

17 Aug 2018 14:41:19
Agree Keep Believing, Andy Halliday hold your head up high, you done well mate.

16 Aug 2018 20:37:07
still think we are 4 or 5 players short of a complete side. still for me is
2 stickers
creative midfielder
defensive midfielder
centre back

3 of these to be back up players and 2 of which for first 11.

16 Aug 2018 22:25:16
Donā€™t want any stickers in the team šŸ˜‚.

16 Aug 2018 22:25:55
We had 3 first team players out suspended injured and illegible.

By the fact we have that many good players out and the back ups got the job done, I disagree with your opinion of needing FIVE new players.

2 will do it. Striker and CB.

16 Aug 2018 22:28:59
Don't need that much just a striker, CB and Creative midfielder and that's job done.

16 Aug 2018 23:06:55
We donā€™t need 2 stickers lol.

16 Aug 2018 23:21:15
Bang on couldnā€™t agree more. We missed Flan and Coulibaly tonight.

That wasnā€™t good to watch tonight and I think we were too cautious. However 2 more games to go and we are in the group stages.

I honestly did not expect that quite so soon. I would have been happy to get Euro run next season.

16 Aug 2018 23:44:37
@jamie5100 - short of 2 stickers? You not completed your World Cup Panini album?

17 Aug 2018 01:14:31
I think we just need the 3.
Striker
Creative attacking midfielder
Centre back
Then were sorted, but in saying that we look good as it is compared to the last few seasons.

17 Aug 2018 05:55:22
Need, need, got, got, got, need, swap.

17 Aug 2018 08:10:31
I agree we need 3 players (cb, am, cf) to have full cover, but when you look at our best first 11 as the team takes shape, I think it's that no10 that we need in the first team.

Someone who takes the ball with composure and has that bit of class to open the door.

The other positions need some depth. Be great if we can get better, but need a level of cover.

17 Aug 2018 20:42:13
Jamie I will swap you Ronaldo for messi
And if you have anymore doublers what are they?

16 Aug 2018 18:29:22
chris jack tweeted team - no coulibally.

16 Aug 2018 18:55:56
Its squeaky bum time.

16 Aug 2018 18:58:27
No even on the bench apparently.

16 Aug 2018 19:10:10
How is this unbelievable lmao.

16 Aug 2018 19:11:36
Does anyone think we should have maybe played with McCrorie instead of Ejaria in a back 5 since we have Halliday as a make shift left back?

16 Aug 2018 21:55:48
Stevie g is looking like the real deal he's got the back room staff and the squad to do the damage duck the celtic moan the rangers!

16 Aug 2018 17:34:50
Heard a few times Lafferty plays for hearts for peanuts as they payed off a gambling debt . No idea if it's true but it's why the deal is complicated. Hearts have got him by the balls and rightly so if they bailed him out. As I said no idea if true.

16 Aug 2018 18:37:08
My understanding is hearts helped lafferty pay his debt, by managing his wages for him. This came from the player himself when he thanked Ann budge for her help and hearts help.

16 Aug 2018 21:55:27
Moral of the story don't gamble get help Lafferty.

16 Aug 2018 14:15:04
Lafferty deal dead its not inevitable.

16 Aug 2018 14:31:59
Teddybear01, go read the story again matešŸ‘šŸ˜‚.

16 Aug 2018 14:51:43
Just because something isn't inevitable doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Back to school with you matešŸ˜‚.

16 Aug 2018 15:17:42
CL said on ssn that he dose not expect it to happen rangers board pissin about as always.

16 Aug 2018 15:37:35
What the F do you mean board pissing about as always? The board have backed Stevie G tremendously so far with 11 signings. Its just Scottish clubs we have these problems with regarding transfers.

16 Aug 2018 15:46:55
then if the board are no pissin aboot why can't they pay the fkn money they have paid 2 mill for pena who was a lot worse but cannot pay 750.000 for lafferty.

16 Aug 2018 15:47:09
Taxi for teddybear šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚what would you expect Levein to say?

16 Aug 2018 15:55:20
Dont bite lads reckon teddy is a little green gnome up to mischief! ! Bless him! Nothing else to do I suppose? ?

16 Aug 2018 15:56:48
Itā€™s called a negotiation. Pena was a Pedro signing, a player he wanted and the board went and got him. Long gone are the days of the club throwing money around itā€™s time you realise that.

16 Aug 2018 16:03:03
It's called negotiating Teddybear, they want more money, we want to pay less. A deal can be done for sure.

I wouldn't want to pay Ā£2m for Lafferty but anything under Ā£1m has to be seen as value.

Pena was a ridiculous signing, Caixinha had no clue about what the team would need to succeed and pushed for him so the board backed him.

I think Mark Allen will be working his magic now he's settled in fully, we aren't finished in this window I wouldn't think.

16 Aug 2018 16:10:18
Defo stinks of a dhim post.

16 Aug 2018 16:17:04
away ye go ya skudbook am no a celtic fan am a season ticket holder at ibrox am giving my opinion and this will drag on cause rangers won't pay the bloody money.

16 Aug 2018 16:34:54
I don't mind if we don't get Lafferty because Hearts valuation is too high. There will be other players out there more than capable of doing the job for us that Mark and SG will have identified already.

16 Aug 2018 16:40:58
Lumie why don't rangers just pay 750000 hearts are asking for and stop all this bullrubbish flying around.

16 Aug 2018 16:56:17
I hope we offer 5p but you have to have green and gold coloured specs to think the board ain't backed S. G. I thought our manager would have our transfer business done early except for a striker and posted that on here. S. G. obviously does not rate Lafferty to highly or he'd be here. We can only be buying him for cover anyway.

16 Aug 2018 16:58:29
Itā€™s called good business practice. Something we have been piss poor at previously . we are right to negotiate this deal. Iā€™m confident a compromise fee will be reached and Lafferty wonā€™t go elsewhere like the way they fkd up with McGinn.

16 Aug 2018 17:16:29
Because maybe rangers think with a bit of negotiation they can get him cheaper. I mean how the F do I know Iā€™m not on the board Iā€™m just saying trust the board theyā€™ve done ok in the transfer market so far and if they donā€™t want to give in to Hearts demands then we need to accept that holy fk man.

16 Aug 2018 17:20:21
Lads c'mon use a bit of common sense we have to negotiate the best deal for us simple as that! should we take the measely amount being offered for fredo if that's the case.

16 Aug 2018 16:57:47
he will be at you lot by wednesday next week Ā£500k upfront Ā£250k on the never never. only thing being sorted now is where the grass will play his football.

16 Aug 2018 18:18:00
Teddy bear we need to support our board not the hearts we board . You say as usual? Donā€™t you think the big lad from Croatia was a great bit of business that all clubs must have envied. Played against us one week. The next he was ours. Even you have to admit my friend that was amazing by the board.

16 Aug 2018 18:40:50
they might have helped stevie G a lot this summer but i still don't trust that board or dave king.

16 Aug 2018 21:49:38
Stevie G wanted every 1 of those 10 players - the board have delivered them and are still in negotiations with 1 or 2 more he wants to add, the players all look really good and can all offer something to the squad! The board appointed a football legend in Gerrard who seems to be making great strides already as a manager- after a few years of turmoil we finally look good as a team, what more do some people want?

16 Aug 2018 21:59:57
Hibsboy! He's here, which means Hibs must have been playing tonight and Rangers are still more interesting!

16 Aug 2018 22:53:13
Well mate back em or sack em . you would rather have Ashley taking hundreds of thousands in wages for his cronies ( our present board take nothing . nil . nada . get it into your head now) and scheming all the dodgy deals under the sun sanctioned by his own men he schemed into the board room. 5 p in the pound . . stealing our badge . our car park our trading ground. would you rather him teddy or would you rather green or whyte or what about the bold sir David .

no one else apart from the current chairman stood up to the plate . if there is or was someone else Mr King would bring him on board. ps how many other people do you kn in this world that work for nothing. I would forvthis club and so do our present board and itā€™s high time people like you Teddy TEDDY show some appreciation instead of talking kack.

One reason Stevie is here is because he believes in the chairman. Do you honestly think if the chairman was dogey Stevie would be here. According to the recent posts a lot of people on here evthink you are dogey? So there you go.

16 Aug 2018 23:45:20
It's the return of @hibsbhoy. When's your Rangers match report coming out?

16 Aug 2018 02:30:31
Any more info on kit release?

16 Aug 2018 09:58:27
No info, but all remnants of Sports Direct have been removed from the stadium, even the backboard SG does TV interviews in front off, all gone?

16 Aug 2018 13:40:38
Bar72 I believe this is because the contract that required display of signage ended 31july.

16 Aug 2018 17:38:29
Yes itā€™s time to advise Sports Direct to officially go. If need be break the agreement and suffer the consequences and letā€™s get on with trading our merchandise if we get fine appeal it and keep appealing it.

16 Aug 2018 17:38:46
Thanks Jboy - didn't know that. Another wee step in the right direction though.

16 Aug 2018 18:38:35
Hope so bar 72.

15 Aug 2018 23:19:19
Rangers had Ayr Uniteds Lawrence Shankland at Ibrox/ Murray Park today, only 6 months left on his contract at Ayr United and already had interest from Dundee and English sides. I have no idea if an offer is coming his way but certainly he was there. don't know too much about him to be honest but has scored quite a few goals this season.

16 Aug 2018 07:50:50
The name Nicky Clark comes to mind but it's not to say he won't go on to be a Vardy either.

16 Aug 2018 09:11:55
No chance. Having watched him for Morton and Ayr I can confidently say there is no chance he is coming to Rangers. He knocked them in in League 1, his previous seasons in the Championship were abject failures. He has started this season well but has none of the requirements to be a Rangers player.

16 Aug 2018 09:50:05
That was my point so72 Clark had a fantastic season before coming to us and failed to live up to the hype.

16 Aug 2018 09:56:10
He would be cheap as chips and a risk free gamble at his age. Easily recoup whatever outlay. no brainer if the lad is wanting to develop and not be a first XI player.

16 Aug 2018 10:00:58
Im not saying he's Rangers class, infact He didn't make the grade at Aberdeen or any of the loan clubs that he has went out to apart from Ayr over the last year and a bit - but i am close to someone who works inside the club at Ayr and that's where he was yesterday, iv no reason to doubt his information as he's told me a few players who have been signing for Ayr in advance and got them all spot on.

Im not sure why he was there, it seems obvious to assume they are in talks etc but i guess it could have been for another reason maybe.

16 Aug 2018 10:25:55
If he comes in then it is absolutely a step backwards.

16 Aug 2018 10:31:14
Youth players not making the grade at their first club doesn't mean always mean much to how they are going to turn out. Stuart Armstrong never made the grade at Inverness and now he's in the EPL as one example.

16 Aug 2018 10:31:37
Not that I know anything at all about Shankland having said that.

16 Aug 2018 10:58:44
His contract is up at the end of the season I believe so might just be giving him an option for then. Better to stick where he is and bang them in for Ayr this season.

16 Aug 2018 11:23:35
based on the not rangers class argument, we would never have signed mccoist from sunderland then based on his record then and his first season or 2 with us wasnt great, and the rest as they say. is history- ian wright was in non league with greenwich borough when he was 22.

16 Aug 2018 13:03:05
People making these arguments haven't seen Shankland play. If Warbs or Pedro made a signing like that they would get ripped to shreds. Luckily, its no happening.

16 Aug 2018 15:13:13
shankland been great for Ayr United goal machine last season and started this season the way he finished last defiantly an option and going by goals he's far better than lanky sadiq don't rate that boy much at all.

16 Aug 2018 16:25:46
Every time Shankland played against us he caused us problems with both Physical and Link up play.
Some people moan about giving youth players a chance then why not a Scottish youth player.
Going down the leagues to come back up is not a bad thing as Vardy/ Platt, etc showed.
Itā€™s game time and experience playing against older seasoned proā€™s.
Good luck to the Scottish Lad if true.

16 Aug 2018 17:32:36
Honestly, not to bang on about it, but having actually seen Shankland play - he has found his level. Would love to be wrong but he doesn't have the attributes to be a Rangers striker. He is also 23, not exactly a youth player.

17 Aug 2018 19:45:14
Guys this one is not going away and the latest from inside Ayr United is that Rangers Will sign Shankland at the beginning of next week and that he will be loaned back out to Ayr for the time being, Ayr are Glad of this as they think he can fire them to the play offs - they still get a fee as well instead of losing him at end of season for nout.

15 Aug 2018 22:48:34
I don't know if true but now saying that Marseille are in the hunt for Morelos and looking to Gazump Bordeaux and Rennes!

Got a little bidding war going on here

I believe Marseille have come in with a bid of 4.7m Still not near enough to prise our min man away.

16 Aug 2018 00:41:24
I don't think he'll go wee man's got a massive smile on his face again he's loving life here don't think will leave well I hope . Got to be at least 8mil upwards there talking Penny's.

16 Aug 2018 08:47:57
Wouldn't sell a dug sh*te to Marseille. Will never forgive them.

16 Aug 2018 09:15:01
The swagman - that's a fine statement šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚.

16 Aug 2018 09:16:18
The swagman bang on 100% agree if not for marseille we would have won the big one.

16 Aug 2018 09:38:30
spot on troops - tapie found guilty of match fixing at Marseilles that season - i wldnt sell that mob a burnt match

EC final shd have been replayed and with big hateley available I think weā€™d have taken them!

16 Aug 2018 10:08:53
why should it have been replayed? what did they do to us?

16 Aug 2018 12:48:46
Wouldn't sell morelos to anyone this late in window. If they want him come back in January and bring a bigger sack of cash.

16 Aug 2018 14:31:07
FTW big Hatley got sent off for a minimal foul, sending us to ten men and costing us the tie, was later discovered they had bribed the ref, attempted to bribe Hatley and were found to be match fixing.

16 Aug 2018 15:36:33
Hartley got sent off against Brugge at Ibrox not Marseille. But yes I agree we would have done Milan in the final that year if McCoist and Hateley were on the park together. They were the best partnership in Europe at the time.

16 Aug 2018 16:39:02
Ger88 I agree the standard we were ref'ed to was suspect in the marseille matches but the match fixing happened in their domestic league and they were stripped of the title for that it didn't impact us.

16 Aug 2018 17:37:23
How did it not impact us? They fixed matches domestically and as a result had players fresh for the continental competition.

Surely if the domestic matches were more of a fair competition they might not have competed to the level they did in the EC.

16 Aug 2018 20:37:58
it was the draws with cska moscow and club brugge that stopped us from getting to the final. if we had won those games the marseille results would've been good enough!

16 Aug 2018 22:58:00
Marseille still cheated us out a place in the final.

17 Aug 2018 20:40:04
Marseille CHEATED at the expense of Rangers FACT, we should never ever ever in our history do any type of deals with that lot, they bought our biggest chance ( it won't happen again) to win the champions league so they can f&@k off if they think they can buy Morelos or any other of our pleyers.

15 Aug 2018 22:30:12
Just read there too - Bordeaux in Morelos 3.75m already rejected talks ongoing

Ok so lafferty to revealed on Friday
But that leaves us in same situation needing another striker
What's going on as much as he misses sitters his hold up play is good and like someone else said his value will go up more he scores this season

What happened to us rejecting 9m last season
Anything less is a joke

We needed a striker not too bring in lafferty and sell our top scorer for peanuts

They better have some plan if they let him go like bringing in quality and a good age that we can make money on in the future
I think it's too early to let him go but looks like he will go if they up ther offer

What's the thoughts guys
We need strikers who's going to come in with lafferty Is Morelos goes?

Need to stick a 1 in front of that for me, and ONLY if we have someone lined up to come in and hit the ground running.

No way should we sell him to any of the bigger leagues for less than the going rate = Ā£10 million minimum for a prolific striker.
