Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

Seemingly Billy Gilmour offered £10k a week from Chelsea once he turns 16. Fee around £500000. Hope it's not true as we really need our best youngsters to come through.

16 Jan 2017 13:01:10
Hope this is yet another nonsense rumour and if there is any truth in it the boy let's hope the boy and his family foresee that having a real chance to break into the Ranger's team next season is far preferable to being shipped out on loan for season after season by Chelsea or playing in their Under 19s.

Saying that it would be difficult turning down that kind of money at such a young age.

16 Jan 2017 14:11:35
If he goes to Chelsea he could languish in the reserves for years or even disappear off the radar altogether. At least at Rangers he might have a chance of first team football and a bigger pay day in a couple of years so long as he can force his way into the team.

16 Jan 2017 16:30:08
Course he's going to go for that money. Hopefully add a sell on fee. But how do you even find out this information? Nonsense

16 Jan 2017 16:44:31
The last I heard was we offered him a 4 year contract but his dad has said he wouldn't commit to any more than two years at a time

16 Jan 2017 18:16:18
Eezyeez. He'd be going on a free with compensation being paid to Rangers so no sell on fee could be added.

16 Jan 2017 18:35:01
Like the disagreements lol that's fact warburton and weir visited the family home a couple of months back

16 Jan 2017 19:38:33
The boy Gilmour is just that, a boy. We are getting our knickers in a twist, he is a prospect although and a good one at that. John Fleck was going to be the next best thing but his career did not hit the heights expected. If we can tie him down to a four year contract great if not let him move on after all the club is bigger than Gilmour. If MW genuinely liked to give youth a chance then Burt would have made more substitute appearances giving the likes of Gilmour encouragement to stay longer.

16 Jan 2017 22:35:04
Reading all the posts on this WHEN do any of our kids get a change at Rangers at best 3 sit on the bench then the usual suspects get there 60 min sub appearance money!

17 Jan 2017 07:52:04
Well said Bongo, if we don't have a defensive midfield player or holding midfield player in the youth team that warrants a shift when the one thing we don't have right now is a fit player for that role, then we rally are in a worse state than I thought!

17 Jan 2017 08:41:05
The use of the word "Seemingly" implies to me that this this "rumour" is made up. Seemingly!

16 Jan 2017 23:10:15
It's not a rumour, Chelsea really want Gilmore, I just hope he stays with us. even for a couple of yrs, because if he really is good, he will get his move anyway

17 Jan 2017 13:26:28
All I'll say regarding this is Feruz. Take note any young promising players.

17 Jan 2017 17:00:48
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and IF Gilmour goes on to be the player coaches think he will be then Rangers must take a gamble. If Cheeses are offering 10k a week then if we offer Gilmour 6-7 even 8k a week on a 2yr contract then it makes sense IF teams like Chelsea are still interested we could sell him on for a decent profit, anything over 1m after 1yr would see a good return, BUT the money some top teams are paying for talented young players is mental so 1m is a very low number if the boy is good AND I think he would stay if we could offer him a deal close to Chelsea's BUT it is a gamble and one I think we should take the money we would get now compared to what we would get after he signs is night and day. Thoughts Bears?

17 Jan 2017 21:53:20
Tom USA

If we have no DM to bring into the first team from the youth squad the only other option might be another player on loan from the EPL.

18 Jan 2017 08:44:30
Good point Copland 1, or if there is money available, (unlikely I know), maybe we could buy one that is out of contract in the summer!

Any thoughts on who we could get on loan?

16 Jan 2017 11:48:07
we are being linked with Juan carlos paredes. Watford rb/ rwb.

16 Jan 2017 12:47:18
Why? We already have Tav and Hudson

16 Jan 2017 13:18:45
bit of a stupid question mate. Better quality.

16 Jan 2017 13:45:54
tavs proved in the scottish cup final and last old firm game that if someone is prepared to run at him whole game his bottle crashes hodson i can't fault for effort but isn't the answer if were moving forward RB is definetely an area we nd to strengthen as is our whole defence tbh

16 Jan 2017 14:12:40
We need a holding midfield player / defensive midfield more than we need a right back unless young Rossiter is ready to return!

16 Jan 2017 15:21:30
We need a striker.

16 Jan 2017 15:49:23
I can't see this one being realistic. Price of £2m being quoted. I can't see us struggling for cash and then making a 29 year old Right Back (a non-essential) being our most expensive purchase when we are crying out for quality in other areas?

16 Jan 2017 16:08:32
Well Blue, it depends what formation we are going forward with. if it is a 3-5-2 then we need a decent rwb, Tav will cost us a lot of goals if he continues his current form.

16 Jan 2017 17:01:48
I can't wait to see the back of tavs so she hope this true

16 Jan 2017 17:15:48
I'm not supporting Tav OSA but surely when we are crying out for a centre back, a defensive mid and a striker of quality and we had £2m for one position (which we don't) we would fill these berths first!?

16 Jan 2017 18:20:17
@bluegenius - got to agree. If and it's a big if, there is no way we would be spending £2 million on one player.

16 Jan 2017 18:23:50
Tav is the weakest link. Always posted missing.

16 Jan 2017 18:38:08
first of all we need a striker as priority and i wouldn't even class tav as a right back no harm to the boy but he is definently the week link

17 Jan 2017 08:04:06
Tavernier might be a weak link but he is not alone. There are holes all over the park and at least we have Hodson, (who, defensively is a better player), to play in that position.

There are problems in attack despite the fact that we have at least four players that we deem to be strikers but if you take away Miller and acknowledge that Dodoo is a young player with a lot to learn the other two right now couldn't score in a Brothel!
We have some decent young players, like McKay with real potential in attacking midfield.

Where we are sadly lacking, indeed totally lacking, is in holding midfield / defensive midfield and if we are honest, that is a position that Warburton has failed miserably to fill.

Yes, you can say he was unlucky with Barton, but was he? He knew the guy carried baggage but, when you are lacking alternatives you don't just get rid of someone after a spat with an inferior player! Then you could say he was unlucky with young Rossiter and yes he was, but one look at the boy's injury history with Liverpool highlights that he was always going to be a risk.

Yes, if there is one player I want to see fit it is Rossiter because I believe that he would make the difference but right now we have no idea what the state of the boy's injury is because we are being told nothing by people at Rangers.

If there is one position I would be looking to fill right now it is that defensive / holding midfield role. If there is one position where I would be happy to find a seasoned professional that could walk into a role and simultaneously help steady the defence, improve the midfield and set up more chances for the forwards then that is it. Strangely, for reasons that are beyond me, Warburton appears to be happy with what he has!

Personally I think Tav deserves more respect from a lot of so called fans! He's contributed a lot for us and had some blinders in a Rangers shirt. We are struggling as a team and they need our support. I don't get the absolute rush to improve, we will get second but there is nowhere to go beyond them, we will never compete in Europe. If you don't like it go an support Barcelona!

warburton remit at rangers was to get us promoted he done this but as for the rest of things in the job I certainly do not see the improvement he is ment to big on player development but the only player I see in our team that has developed further is mackay he is ment to be big on fitness but do not see this on the pitch looks the opposite on the field ment to be big on youth players yet none of our youth players seem to get a chance even when our first team stars are not performing was ment to add value to the squad on and off the field do not see any value in this squad of players part from mackay possibly rossiter if ever fit and maybe fordingham so not a lot of value added to the squad on and off the field so far
has to get us second in the leauge he is on course to do this.
so looking at the things 6 things above he is on course to achieve 2 out of 6
you can say he hasn't been giving money to spend but the money he has spent has not been spent Wisely

16 Jan 2017 13:04:17
Player developmemt is over the course of multiple seasons not half a season. Fitness has definetly improved but like similar teams in the epl it is hard to keep high tempo for 90mins playing the way we do. Young players is 3-5 type plan, if they aren't close to being good enough not much he can do. Adding value is inevitable as the vast majority of the guys we got for free so any transfer fee is adding value. 2million for 22 players is pretty good in my book. i don't know if you expected people like forreter to kick on and be sold for 15mill and a team full of teenagers but its not going to happen. Improving the youth system would be 1 youth player a season getting into the 1st team aquad and adding value is signing someone for free and selling them for a couple of mill after a couple of seasons

16 Jan 2017 13:46:19
so who in this squad do you think will develop in to good enough player two sell in few years time as for youth players who says there are not good enough they surley deserve a chance to prove there are by replacing underperforming if your going to play this high tempo game then you need fast and fit enough players who are going to perform in a unit we got them for free and that's how much they will end up leaving for cause they not good enough to sell for profit on this form and yeh at least 1 or 2 younsters should get into first team a year but so far they arent

16 Jan 2017 17:36:05
Maybe none for an serious profit yet but the point i am making is that its a long game and these things take time. If we had loaned out the young guys and they were stars for championship teams then they would get a chance but none of them have really performed so not good enough yet
