Been reading a few OTT comments regarding Alexander on here
I think that 10,000 per week x 52 weeks = loyalty for staying at the club,
also let's not forget that he has been picking up a nice wage since he joined us in 2008
Now he has the choice to accept a new deal or leave, what's the issue? and who else in Scotland would pay him 5000 per week

If players like Whittker can get 20k a week in England Alexander will get 10k trust me.

So you think it is acceptable to treat a player who stayed through the trouble less than Black, Cribari and templeton? I wish you would stop spouting the party line JG you sound like a sheep.

As the great SAGE of Angola, would you not want backroom staff culled first, rather than players. Its the players than WIN things!
Green looks short-term undermining player contracts - no long-term future in that

it's about reducing the overall wage bill.
Alexander is on about 12K per week just now.
He leaves and they give Bell 8K per week.
They've saved 4K per week (200K per year).
Neither Neil or Cammy are worth anywhere near the figures quoted but football has gone MAD!!
The problem for Rangers is if Alexander accepts 5K contract and they get stuck with two decent goalies.

I am astonished that people think because he stayed he should get £10k a week. Those people presumably don't care if we get in another financial mess. He got £10k in SPL, we are not in SPL we are in div three. Of course he shouldn't get £10k a year, half a million pounds for playing in div three, get real.

Alexander is nowhere as good as we think he's not worth 10 thousand

must agree am all for rewarding our loyal players but the truth is we are on our way back to the top still at the start of recovery and a long way to go why would u ever want to over spend on wages when we need to rebuild our team not over spend on players wages or we will just be back to where we started
Agree0

If he's offered less for his next contract, then that's fine. that's what the club values him at. But if the club has said we'll only give you a new contract if you sign it now, and it starts now at a reduced wage, then that's not right. If they want to halve his wage, it should begin at the end of his current contract.

It is rumoured that Alexander was on a 3 year deal of 12k per week and in 2011-12 re-signed on 8k per week. He played a total of 20 games in 3 years which equates to a thousand pounds per minute. Do Rangers really need to pay any GK more than any other GK outwith Celtic to win div 1, 2 & 3?
Agree0

Melb bhoy you got is spot on. This is not about the new deal, Green wants to renage on the original deal first. What kind of message does that send to possible future signings. We will agree a deal but be prepared to be shafted half way through.
Iagree it is a high salary for Div 3 but they were happy enough to offer it to him in the first place. Does nothing for club's integrity or reputation

Every so called top star you signed is on ridiculous wages for a 3rd division team, a lot of the comments seem to contradict the situation.

Alexander is a good goalie- without a doubt but. we can't affoard to be paying players £10k/£12k per week. At the end of the day- we have to think long term- cash wise. Bear in mind that we play in the 3rd division. if we are building a team for the future then great- but our young players should be good enough to get through the 3rd division. as some of them are proving.
I can't honestly say that any of our players merit that kind of money per week. i'm struggling to think of any that deserve £5k per week- if they merited it then we should be gubbing teams every single week!

Never heard the term "Gubbing" for years, top word!

Either the money goes in na's pocket or it goes in cg's pocket all I can say being honest is our club won't c the money so why not pay him he's not the worst keeper? r. t. i. d

It's the peril of TUPE folks terms and conditions HAVE to remain the same.
It would explain, partially, why those who stayed did so. Would bocanegra, goian, McCulloch, Alexander etc have any chance of getting the same/better deal elsewhere at this stage of their careers? No chance.
Financial decision by those who left and stayed!

Its very simple, would Hearts with the third highest wage bill win div 3-2-1?
If yes, then Rangers wage bill should be no higher than Hearts, for example their 1st team GK is on 4k per week.

Rangers will this week reveal they've agreed a 2 year youth exchange programme with Juventus.
The plan involves Juventus sending players from their youth squad to Glasgow on loan, with Rangers youngsters being given the chance to train in Turin to aid their development. Juventus will have the option to sign up any players who impress. The agreement was reached during the Italian side's visit to Murray Park last week.
Just read that what's peoples thoughts

Why would Juventus want to sign any players coming out of Murray Park when Rangers never thought they were good enough to move up to their big team.

Why is it always pre-announcements about future major announcements? Why not just come and make the actual annoncement that there is a signed deal for the kit, there is a signed deal for the stadium, there is a signed deal for major shareholders coming on board. Becoming a bit tired of the whole debacle. CG should not open his mouth until he has something positive to say which can not be used in evidence further on. Right that's that off my chest
