Watching the highlights from yesterday, can blame Murty and the players for a poor start but what's really cost us was allowing Danny Wilson to leave. The boy was head and shoulders our best cb.

02 Apr 2018 09:29:44
Always thought Wilson leaving was a crazy decision he was starting to show his quality

02 Apr 2018 12:41:43
As much as Murty isn't the man to manage Rangers, he's on record as admitting he'd have offered Wilson a new deal if he'd had the power to do so. That was Mark Allen's call, and it was an absolute howling mistake.

02 Apr 2018 12:47:46
Wilsons form before we sold him was excellent scoring goals aswell. Alves, cordoso and martin have cost us points this season. Missing bates.

02 Apr 2018 13:32:07
Wilson stated that it was Pedro that had forced his hand into leaving by not playing him, and it was then that his agent started looking for a new club.

02 Apr 2018 15:17:32
Wilson didn't state that marco:

“I made it clear I wanted to stay with Rangers. Absolutely, I wanted to stay. But I was left with no choice but to consider other options. “Plenty of people have had their say about my decision to leave Rangers, especially on social media. So much of it is inaccurate rubbish. “The truth of it is that for four or five months I asked Rangers what the situation was, beginning with Pedro Caixinha before he left. “I was told just to concentrate on my performances — and I thought my performance level over that period of time was good. “Then as it got into January, after we returned from Florida, I went in to speak to them again. I was told the contract would be there in the next day or so. “That was on the Tuesday, but by the Wednesday evening I was told there would be no contract for me to sign. It was Mark Allen, the director of football, who told me. “It was never about money. I actually told Rangers during our brief discussions that I would have been happy to stay on the money I was on. ”

02 Apr 2018 15:57:23
Jzer exactly mate, and yeah it was the lack of contact between Allen and the agent that ultimately led to him leaving. Crazy decision, he was captain, and his for was superb. Guarantee if he was still here he would've been in the last Scotland squad as well. For all those disagreeing with fact, go do some research before you hit that button folks. Clueless.

02 Apr 2018 16:54:22
Lol behave. Danny Wilson was completely average and had been since he signed for us.

02 Apr 2018 17:15:49
Danny Wilson leaves Rangers

02 Apr 2018 18:07:47
TheCampbell, he seemed average on his first two seasons but you can't tell me he hadn't stepped his game up this season? He reveled in the captains role and is a damn sight better than what we currently have

02 Apr 2018 21:03:25
Pedro tried to phase Wilson out by not playing him whilst fit to play. After Pedro left Wilson returned to the team, established himself and recall scored at least one goal. Wilson wanted to stay and not unreasonably wanted contract discussions as real was up in June. Murty did indeed say would like Wilson to stay. Don’t believe the deal on offer to Wilson was sufficiently attractive and he had also been exploring opportunities in the USA.

03 Apr 2018 00:56:54
I'll concede that he is a bit better than Alves and martin but that's not exactly a high bar.

Overall he isn't a good enough centre back for us so offering him a new long term contract didn't make any sense.

If we think Wilson was the answer then we are in real trouble.

03 Apr 2018 01:40:53
Danny Wilson was average. When he didn't play every other match. Finally got a run in the team late last year and became our best CB since admin hands down. Letting him go was appalling, short sighted and has hurt us.

03 Apr 2018 13:19:24
Danny Wilson was the best of a bad bunch. FACT

04 Apr 2018 08:19:51
What about giving young Aiden Wilson a chance at CB?

01 Apr 2018 18:32:15
I might get slated here by Murty fans but I still think it was Murtys less than ability to change team structure that cost us yesterday. Sure he must have done something to change second half but why didn't this happen from start?

02 Apr 2018 01:21:06
Why was Dorrans playing so deep? Pedro style

02 Apr 2018 09:58:37
I’m not sure of Dorrans best position, I believe it’s where Windass plays. He hasn’t kicked a ball for weeks now. He needs dropped. Rossiter in for goss and Dorrans in for Windass.

02 Apr 2018 10:57:11
As Windass looks like he will miss the next game, I honestly think he will risk it and slap Cummings up there with him and have Docherty/ Dorrans in the middle of the park again. I'd honestly prefer to see a more balanced team with maybe McCrorie and Docherty central with Dorrans in front of them. Although i admit i'd prefer to see young McCrorie as CB in replacement of Russell. The mans a penalty case waiting to happen.

02 Apr 2018 12:22:54
Totally in agreement with you teddyofthesouth! Always said on here that first and foremost ross mccrorie is a centre half and that's where he should play for rangers, barring injuries to any of our defensive midfielders!

02 Apr 2018 12:49:37
Agreed. I like that they are building him to be flexible in that position, it seems to be the norm now with Mascherano (no idea how to spell him name) setting the trend, and Dier of Spurs being a good example of how it can help a player grow in both positions. But for me CB is where he belongs. Plus i can't stand watching Alves and Martins. I can't be sure but i think he has had a handball or penalty shout in almost every game he has played in!

02 Apr 2018 15:37:43
Agree about Martin I wouldn't sign him at end of loan not good enough.

03 Apr 2018 01:41:57
Martin's legs are gone. He's made one good tackle since he joined - and that was the good block on Saturday. Truly horrific signing and one which hasn't worked out.

Anyone have any info on the potential April Fools with regard the Red Bull sponsorship deal as reported in the Daily Record?

01 Apr 2018 13:51:19
Record doing the usual and getting stuck into the Gers!
Saying that the other April fools they had written was the young Norwegian defender being watched by Dortmund
#Big DUMPLIN🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

01 Apr 2018 13:52:50
Exactly all it was, an April fools!

01 Apr 2018 17:18:50
Don't know, wouldn't go near that paper!

01 Apr 2018 17:42:05
It was Red Bull themselves that broke it not the record

01 Apr 2018 18:02:50
It wasn’t the fail record that broke it. Stop being paranoid and behaving like Celtic fans used to and still do to an extent, it’s embarrasing.

01 Apr 2018 19:56:11
Red Bull broke it on twitter 2 hours before the record carried the story check it out not rocket science. the 4 that disagreed don't know what they are talking about but there is a surprise

02 Apr 2018 08:18:21
I think dortmund's interest in Big Ajer is genuine. they were after him prior to us signing him.

02 Apr 2018 11:24:44
Didn't the redbull situation surface last year? I swear that strip with their logo was posted on here last year or in the summer. The Ajer link is genuine seemingly. It was re-posted by BBC sport today in their gossip column and was also BVB buzz.

01 Apr 2018 12:27:47
It would be hard to find anyone on here that would disagree with saying that Frank De Boer was a world class player but I am really struggling to get excited by the prospect of him becoming our new manager. There is only one name I want to see manage us next season and that is Walter Smith.

Now before all the let Walter retire brigade jump on me, he was interested in Scotland again so may fancy one last flurry and I think we should pull out the stops. Get Walter and we will win title next season no doubts and Celtic and their fans will no longer roam around Ibrox like they own the place.

Get well soon Ray Wilkins.

01 Apr 2018 12:58:34
Do you think Walter would be tempted back with a budget consisting solely of ginger bottles and embassy coupons?

01 Apr 2018 13:01:43
No question, I'd love Walter back. I think few wouldn't. He's the titan. If he wants the job, and information is he doesn't, by hell we should give him it.

01 Apr 2018 13:30:42
totally agree theo de boer apparently lost the dressing room at palace in a matter of weeks because of his big ego and a lot of bears saying he was a good rangersman he only played about 15 games in a blue jersy that's like saying joe dodoo is a good rangers man and legend we need to make sure if murty deosnt get the job and i don't think he will imo we need to make the right choiceor the unwashed will walk away with 10 in a row it pains me to say

01 Apr 2018 15:06:57
I think we need to stop asking for Walter Smith to come back. The man has already done enough for the club. Let him enjoy his retirement

01 Apr 2018 18:13:58
It all depends on whether Walter would take the job if he does give him it, absolutely 100%, if not we move on. De Boer did well at Ajax and was hardly in the door long enough to have a number 2, so why would he be a poor choice? He would attract better players with the chance of CL football

01 Apr 2018 18:16:13
Yes de Boer had stinkers at inter and palace. He was also very successful at Ajax. I loved what Walter did for us. He had a bit of a stinker at Everton, did he not? let's leave Walter be. Whoever we get as manager, they'll need significant funds in summer

01 Apr 2018 20:06:54
De Bour would be another terrible choice the reason he was successful at Ajax is the culture in Holland is completely different to here in the UK players in this country have zero tolerance for fresh ideas even if they are coming from top ex players we should have gone all out for Alex Neil when he was available

01 Apr 2018 21:31:02
Walter would come back on understanding he works with Murty

02 Apr 2018 16:41:58
We can't afford another gamble and Walter Smith definitely isn't a gamble. I would have Smith above ANY other manager in the world right now and I honestly mean that.

03 Apr 2018 10:10:43
Walter is an auld mannie now, let's give him some peace.

04 Apr 2018 00:53:55
Walter Smith was brilliant in his two terms as manager however I don't think there will be a 3rd term. Its time to thank Murty for his efforts, let him find a managers job before his reputation suffers further and then appoint the the most experienced British manager we can find. I would do it now and not wait until next season even although it means going back on their promise that Murty would be in charge until the end if the season.
