Don't shoot the messenger, but I've been told from a mate who claims to have good source that Arfield is on £38k per week - if true, that's astonishing and can we really afford that or are we gambling to try and win the league and to get to the CL to recoup this?

21 May 2018 22:07:51
This rumour was started on a Celtic board when we were first linked with him. He was on 23k a week at Burnley so no chance he is on anywhere near that at Ibrox.

21 May 2018 22:11:54
There is no way we are paying Scott Arfield 38k I doubt he is even on 1/ 2 that.

21 May 2018 22:27:24
SirStruth who told you that nonsense? He wasn't even near those wages at Burnley

He was on 20k to be precise at Burnley

Now Burnley were only offering him a 2 year contract on same wages and when Rangers apparently came in offering a 3 year deal on slightly less wages than that of Burnleys he preferred the Rangers offer

The sweetener to get it over the line was to offer an extra year So all in all 4 years

So what would you take a 2 year deal on 20k a week OR 4 years on 18k a week? With the 4th year dropping to 15k a week? It's a no brainer really

21 May 2018 22:38:49
Arfield is on 25k . 38k is a load of mince

22 May 2018 00:17:54
He is on 15k

22 May 2018 07:42:51
The Arfield deal will net him 5.4m over the course of the contract

22 May 2018 08:10:51
He's own ten woodbine and a packet a crisps a week. 😜

22 May 2018 08:16:32
No chance 38k a week. Even are board are not that stupid. Looking forward to seeing him in action.

22 May 2018 12:03:26
Nobody knows how much Arfield will be on except himself, his agent and those in the know and none of them are going to mention to a “mate” what his wage is. Just let the guy get the jersey on and play, I think he will be a total stick out for us

22 May 2018 12:17:41
His 4 yr deal is worth 5.4 which puts him on 25,000 a week if reports are true.

22 May 2018 12:47:04
He won't even be on half that. I reckon about 16-17k plus bonus

22 May 2018 15:01:28
Only worth about £5.99 a week lol

22 May 2018 15:05:28
I had to register just so I could comment on this. Your mate's "good source" is FIFA 18. That's what Arfield's salary is on there. So a lot of mince basically.

21 May 2018 16:25:10
Given that we’ll probably not be seeded for the Uefa Cup, have any of you seen some of the teams we could get? Second Round (Sevilla, Leipzig, Burnley, Atanata, Bordeaux) third round (Zenit, Braga, Gent, Feyenoord) that’s regardless of the teams who drop out for the champions league. Some tough ties although I acknowledge most of these would be worse case scenario, as long as we get past the Luxembourg / Latvian teams in the first round?!?!

21 May 2018 17:03:14
Bring it on!

21 May 2018 17:26:29
Burnley must be a nap, with Arfield here now.
Football has a way of making these things happen

21 May 2018 17:31:12
We are seeded for the first qualifying round, so maybe later as well? I'm not really sure how that will pan out

21 May 2018 17:58:24
Gram only seeded first game

21 May 2018 18:26:02
Fear No Foe

21 May 2018 18:31:58
I’m not saying that with the right players and better coaching we can’t beat these teams but it could be tough!

21 May 2018 19:24:21
I want progres niederkorn!

21 May 2018 21:40:19
Does anyone know when the draw is? Middle of June?

21 May 2018 22:40:06
Its either the 12th or 19th june

23 May 2018 01:37:34
Given our first round record in Europe in recent years I hope and pray every minute of every match.

21 May 2018 14:27:18
Rangers have had an initial bid for Kadioglu turned down. They failed to meet the players valuation and NEC wish to loan him back for a year before the Dutch youth player leaves the club.

21 May 2018 16:09:46
Looks a Seriously good prospect! This is the kind of player we should be buying to develop and sell on after a few good years.

21 May 2018 18:40:07
Bearsnews where are you seeing we had an other turned down

21 May 2018 21:44:34
If we sign this lad I’ll blow my load. Would tear SPL to shreds.

21 May 2018 23:54:07
There’s no way he’ll come to Rangers some of the top clubs in the world are watching this kid be absolutely amazing if he did but can’t see it and no way is Scott Arfield getting 38k per week he’s a decent player but not even worth half of that

21 May 2018 13:23:20
Bookies have Rangers at low odds to sign McBurnie so that must be happening as the bookies are hardly ever wrong

21 May 2018 13:57:05
Do anyone know for sure whether he is out of contract or not? Keep seeing different things.

21 May 2018 14:20:08
So why do so many favs get beat

21 May 2018 15:10:32
I think he's being sarcastic

21 May 2018 15:36:32
Bookies odds automatically go down the more people bet on something, so wouldn't look much into that. Still think there's a good possibility of it happening tho

21 May 2018 15:39:14
Hes got one year left on his contract

21 May 2018 15:32:19
The boy has 1 year of his contract left so it’s not a case of just getting him on a cross border compensation fee of £500k that’s why reports have us linked with £4m fee for the player.
Like Skertal I think he will add 10-15% to our team but £4m for a player you can sign on a free in January and then pay small fee to get him in then doesn’t make good financial sense.
I can see Rangers getting Skertal for £2-2.5m and McBurnie for similar price, time will tell

21 May 2018 19:08:29
Bookies stopped taking bets on us signing Van Persie, so doesn’t always mean it will happen because the bookies have cut the odds

21 May 2018 20:26:35
What happen to the agreement
In January with swans we get Burnie on loan and they get tav
The tav deal would cover the loan
Deal

21 May 2018 02:13:22
Hearing harry wilson is a very close deal . 4 lads had a dream on twitter.

21 May 2018 06:43:47
If true I hope it is a loan to buy. Hate developing other clubs youngsters.

21 May 2018 07:17:24
4 lads tell a lie more like.

21 May 2018 08:52:42
Excellent player but another loan😬

21 May 2018 09:45:52
Why are we signing other clubs youngsters on loan to Develop them when we have our own youngsters to develop

21 May 2018 10:10:48
The same guys who said David Bates was signing a new deal? Aye ok.

21 May 2018 10:25:09
If the young player I spent already better quality then we have or can buy right now then I don’t see the issue with loans, if there not then no we ain’t here to makes other teams player s better

21 May 2018 10:42:41
Frustrated Bear do you want to stop 10 IAR
We’ve not got time to develop youth! IF they are good enough they’ll play. The boy Wilson had a great year in The Championship last season and looks a top class addition. Stop your moaning and just get behind the decisions that are being made.

21 May 2018 11:45:11
The reason we are developing other teams youngsters like Harry Wilson (if it happens) is because they are far better than our own youngsters perfect examples over last few seasons are Hyndman at us who did well in a poor team Roberts at Celtic Maddison at Aberdeen when on loan from Norwich these players are head and shoulders above our youngsters so that is reason we take them on loan and everyone of these players have long term deals with parent clubs so are highly thought of

21 May 2018 02:03:03
Read about Defoe advertising for a PA starting at £60k a year plus benefits, now let's think about this. We were haggling over a few grand for David Bates (for me A good young centre half and Scottish) he wanted £7k a week we offered £2.5k. So we offered less than half Defoe will pay his PA.

Defoe on £100k a week which we will need to pay part of if we want to sign him on loan. Hope people on here can see the different financial worlds we are from with this example. Three or four of the players mentioned combined wage would be £10m a year, at This time we are a £30m a year club. I'm not be negative but please lads don't get carried away.

21 May 2018 02:27:56
Isle. Bates is getting about 10k a week at Hamburg. Do you think he was worth that for us? I don't believe he was worth that or 7k. The wages saved willbe better spent elswhere. Good luck to him tho.

21 May 2018 02:30:19
You still talking about this David Bates 7k a week?

It’s pretty simple, Rangers offered the player what we thought he was worth. He did not accept as Hamburg will pay him more than what we feel he is worth. The end.

We are paying some players a pretty obscene wage for what they have contributed, ie Pena, Alves, Dorrans.

You’re talking about Bates and 7k as if we could not afford to pay it. We can pay it, but we chose not to.

With regards Defoe, I’ll just wait and see who we have by the end of the window.

21 May 2018 05:23:13
Why can't the rest of us fellow bears not see the big name players being mentioned will not be anywhere near Scotland let alone Ibrox unless its loans the names are only getting throwed about to pull the wool over our eyes so We go hurry and buy are season tickets, we don't have hardly any money and we've known this for a while so Where is this money coming from to buy, them and then pay there wages? its not going to happen i'm affraid, that days are long gone sadly.

21 May 2018 05:58:57
How do you think ww offered bates half defoes PA? 2.5k per week is 130k a year. Good maths mate

21 May 2018 06:46:18
I watched Alves against Aberdeen at Ibrox 3 0 game, live away now but to me looked like the only string centre half / leader we had on the pitch.
Maybe we should keep him and get rid of the push beside him. Don’t become a bad player over night

21 May 2018 07:22:27
Isle of Mull with his doom and gloom again. He thinks he’s some sort of financial expert not really are you if the PA is on £60k a year I don’t think that works out to be more or even less that what Bates was offered

21 May 2018 07:23:07
Isle of Mull 2500 x 52 ain't half of the wages offered for a PA 60,000 but its been a long time since i was at school, perhaps arithmetic is different nowdays

21 May 2018 08:32:04
Isle of Mull, you need to resit your maths exam, or maybe you were getting confused with Dembele dollars. hahaha

21 May 2018 09:17:32
30M a year club? Utter rubbish. We get a lot more on season tickets plus huge merchandising. We probably make more than 30M on SG photo in gers top.

21 May 2018 09:43:17
Really hope board won't over stretch and keep to what we can afford. I for one am very worried promises have been made that we can't keep to SG. Hopefully I'm wrong. Surely we have a structure for wages that we won't go over.

21 May 2018 10:25:02
Appalling that we let the boy Bates go because we would not pay him £7k a week. He was the best Centre back at the club and was on the lowest wages. Was also the type of young no nonsense defender with physicality we are crying out for.

21 May 2018 10:29:37
Sorry lads for my mistake was just trying to highlight the financial gap between Scotland and the EPL. We are a£30m club that is not a mistake check our accounts. MBW so we are going to double our income just with SG shirts / pics please out your eyes. We all hope SG is a hugh success as a manager first then we can look to his financial benefits to the club. Think CG has to have a word with MBW about exaggerating

21 May 2018 10:45:32
Isle of Mull your having an absolute stinker the day

21 May 2018 10:48:31
Isle of Mull all of Rangers assets, players, stadium, auchenhowie, Albion Car Park etc are worth more than 30 Million. Have you been on the Davie Weir all night 👃🏽

21 May 2018 12:45:35
LDM😂😂😂😂

21 May 2018 14:59:53
Bates worth 7k? No way worst user of a ball out of defence I've seen good luck to the boy but not for us at 7k

21 May 2018 15:42:48
I think what he means is we have an annual turnover of around £30m. (Think it’s slighly higher) With a wage bill of £18m. The Tramps had turnover of around £60m with Champions league etc and their playing budget is £54m.
Totally agree that we could easily afford £7k a week, I know Maths is not your strong point so to simplify it for you, a basic £20k weekly wage is £1m per year we have been paying £18m so we can afford a full 18 man squad on £20k per year if we wanted. Obviously there’s other wages needing paid and we will have numerous players on less than £10k and others like Arfield, Alves and Pena on £25k.
Your point with Defoe, if it’s to do with wages we can't afford him. If he wants to come here and is on £80k he would have to accept less than half if he wants to make the move, he’s made his dough and he hasn’t won a medal and would probably jump at the chance to compete at top end of table and play for a big club again, unlikely signing but not impossible.

21 May 2018 16:15:22
Think isle of mull is on about turnover (£30m) the last couple of seasons. Our turnover should be much better this coming season. Iam delighted with Stevie Gerrard as our manager. Not convinced we're going to sign 7-8+ players this summer. Quality of quantity for me.

21 May 2018 21:39:57
Think it was your esteemed chairman, Robinson, or whoever, him of the the "overdraft facility", that said you were a £30 million club, think he was talking about your turnover, not your overdraft facility.

22 May 2018 13:17:35
Don't think Bates removal had anything to do with more money but rather strategic decision knowing changes SG would want to make. Skrtel or Bates no brainer plus one class other CB would push Bates into training ground fodder.

21 May 2018 01:39:38
I have it from a source that Steve G is looking at the following players:

Possible bosman signings
Glen Johnson
Charlie Adams
Jermain defoe
YAN DHANDA

Signing/ loans

Dominic Solanke
Danny Ings
Skretl
Lucas.

21 May 2018 05:28:54
Are you Gary Mac in disguise? stop reading the fake paper news we don't have the money even for there wages let alone the transfer fees.

{Ed001's Note - Yan Dhanda has already signed for Swansea City.}

21 May 2018 06:30:26
Ed that's sad Yan Dhanda is a cracking wee player

{Ed001's Note - he is ok but he was never going to make it at Liverpool so it was best for all concerned he moved on to give himself a chance. Hopefully Swansea will give him that chance, but I am not sure he would have been right for the Glasgow pressure cooker. Not yet anyway, he needs a season or two of first team football away from the major spotlight.}

21 May 2018 15:08:49
Pmsfl ooooooo my sides

21 May 2018 15:58:17
You excited to be linked with Halliday Hibsbhoy?

21 May 2018 19:22:28
I don't even think celtic jnrs will take him.

21 May 2018 20:03:47
Mike I think if he has a descent team around him he will play ok need to wait and see but at least we're being realistic with our signings lol unlike some teams
