Rumour of the day:-
Rangers and Celtic wanted in British Super League after collapse of European Super League.
No baits were clicked bringing you this revelation! 🤭🤣👍👀.

22 Apr 2021 08:30:47
No thanks. maybe a brittish cup tho.

22 Apr 2021 09:08:09
Yes please big bucks maybe thatswhy these new investors are in town hopefully.

Hopefully our club reads the room better than those so called big 6. After everything that went this week what would make us any different from them. The champions League money is getting made a lot bigger and I would rather we stayed and helped Scottish football. I know some in Scottish football shafted us but we should be bigger than that because the smaller teams we played on our way back helped us and they would go out of existence without us. The spfl was supposed to bring everything under one umbrella but realistically it was to stop us staying down to for league restructure. If we were under one umbrella we should think about the small teams when getting TV deals even just a highlights package worth a few million that if they were to invest in youth would help the produce players but the highlights would give them a shop window to sell players. Doing something like this would probably allow us to get teams on side for our own youth teams joining the league as this would also create attraction for TV audience's. Plus with the numbers being banded for the champions League it could mean double to triple the funding if so if the old firm were both in there and put £10m each into the top flight and £5-10m into the lower league this would help the teams but it would help the league by attracting more people to invest as we invest in ourselves. The more competitive and financially sound the league is the better it is for us too.

22 Apr 2021 09:22:32
That’s what both rangers and Celtic need and I can’t see it happening but I really hope it does it’s been 36 years since another other than rangers or Celtic have won our league and it will be at least another 36 till it happens again.
Scottish football is horrendous.

22 Apr 2021 09:35:53
Let's be honest here. old firm wouldn't be able to compete in englands top flight. Bottom half of the table I'd say.

22 Apr 2021 09:37:23
Can hardly imagine anyone not wanting that, been what they been crying out for for generations, fans too

22 Apr 2021 09:44:17
I think the only fair way to do it, after the outcry of the super league, would be to consult the fans groups or season ticket holders 1st.
Then if it was a yes, we should try and involve the rest of the top clubs. Who would be invited? Who would be involved? Would the whole of British football unite in a pyramid system like a normal league? Promotion relegation? Regional leagues etc. it would have to, IMO, involve the whole of Scottish football or we would be hypocrites. Thoughts guys?

22 Apr 2021 09:45:23
The other thing being if we went down that road u could possibly see uefa push for a British national team rather than individual national teams. Just a thought 🤔.

22 Apr 2021 10:02:13
Daviedouglas - would be a different story with the cash injection we’d receive. i'm in the fence with this, need to weigh up all the pros and cons.

22 Apr 2021 10:19:58
I mentioned in response to the Super League fiasco that the next logical step would be a move for the Old Firm to the EPL, with the Colt Teams remaining to take their place in the SPFL structure. It's what we have been chasing down for years!

Can we chap this "no baits were clicked" pish on the head as well, everyone knows what the script is.

22 Apr 2021 10:20:48
I think most Scottish clubs would disappear in a British League set up with only the Old Firm being eventually successful though that could take a few years.
Though would the Tims be happy at getting involved in a "British" league? 🤣.

22 Apr 2021 12:01:47
British National team fine for me 👍.

22 Apr 2021 12:16:49
agreed mph. however dtb, i could have enjoyed clicking bait as a devil may care kind of attitude takes the day, but sadly can't and can't even report it now according to you. unless the script can save us?

22 Apr 2021 12:25:55
MPH Its likely it would take a few years for the old firm to be successful, But can you imagine the amount of people who would want to invest in either team. Got to remember that both old firm are massive compared to the likes of Chelsea, Spurs and Man City they have only been successful because of the billionaire owners with the money available to them. I personally don’t think we will get into the EPL, But you never know. 🇦🇺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽️🇬🇧👍.

22 Apr 2021 13:18:42
Totally agree, Cunny.
We wouldn't be an overnight success but with the increase in investment and additional finance, we would eventually be competing.
Remember it's took about 5 years since returning to the top flight in Scotland to win another trophy.
Money can be easily wasted with the wrong people at the helm.

22 Apr 2021 14:13:32
I agree with you funny, cept for city, who always were a massive club

It’s Scottish football that’s forever holding rangers and them back, always will until they find an escape, a cup competition is not going to help us, nothing will except moving to a bigger level, the only one viable is the epl, some day it will happen, and may even be in the next few years, something has to give, we have 2 massive clubs in a tiny league, laughable if it wasn’t so sad.

22 Apr 2021 14:25:32
Livibear your post is admirable but why would rangers or Celtic give that much money away? It’s a no for me if we can get out of this league sooner the better.

IGWT they have welsh teams in English just now and no calls for British league. Also I know uefa have the euros but fifa is the main leader in international football.

22 Apr 2021 15:46:09
Eeyeez even with the cash injection we would be mid table at best. let's be serious here. we would never be able to compete in the first 10 years and we would be closer to the bottom than the top.

22 Apr 2021 15:58:28
TThe Welsh teams have a long-standing agreement probably set in stone,

There are reasons that they are allowed their place

Scottish teams would only ever be allowed of there is a massive Rebuilding job,

22 Apr 2021 17:30:19
The welsh teams started at the bottom kja9 mate, but I take your point. And fair enough re uefa/ fifa but u get my point mate. If Scotland/ England merged national leagues then, in time, the national teams would be made to merge aswell.

22 Apr 2021 17:48:35
And what would be the problem with being in the bottom ten for a few years if your taking a fortune, in earnings, and tv cash, or you want to win 75 titles nobody else is in the slightest bit interested in.

22 Apr 2021 18:45:05
DD are you just a glory hunter? Saying we won’t be able to compete? Obviously we ain’t going to go and win it right away but it’s a higher standard of football and league which comes with more money as well I don’t think it will happen but if it does it’s a yes no doubt about it.

We would be daft to turn it down.

22 Apr 2021 18:48:57
Does tht mean the belgium and dutch national teams would have to merge as their is talk of them linking up with eachother. No its all ifs and buts at this stage.

22 Apr 2021 19:22:38
To chip in to this arguement rangers n celtic would struggle at first. Granted they would. But in this format rangers n celtic would comfortably sell out 100,000 seater home games while u get supposed big clubs like man city who even struggle to get full capacity in the champions league. If a move was on the cards and both were to invest in stadia to accomodate for demand i could guarantee scotlands big two would rival and have the capacity to overtake most of the big clubs in england with maybe man united the exception.

22 Apr 2021 19:38:39
I would suggest we move to the EPL and Play our reserve team in the spl.
Best of both worlds.

22 Apr 2021 19:47:44
IGWT I personally don’t care what the national team is yes I will watch Scotland but only care about rangers and what’s best for them.

23 Apr 2021 11:27:50
Broxxibear, Holland and Belgium are 2 totally seperate country’s, they aren’t part of a union. so they would maintain they’re individual status mate. The fact that we all come under Great Britain to then have and compete in a British league also. it wouldn’t be long til we competed as one national team.
Kja9 I’m not giving an oppinion on my preference mate just that I think that’s what would happen. It would be a hard one to decide n best to wait til that time if it only
Involved the old firm then we would maintain individual status but if it was merged as a British league with regional leagues then I believe a national team for Britain would be the next step.

23 Apr 2021 13:51:16
Yes we are a union but no birth certificate has british on it as far as i'm aware. I could be wrong however 🤔.

23 Apr 2021 16:37:04
Don’t have a clue what you’re saying here, I’m British, says so on my passp O, and even if it didn’t I’m still British, my father was an raf pilot, my mother an raf nurse,

And I was born under a Union Flag, a union, union flag.

23 Apr 2021 19:27:19
I personally think it would suit all teams in the Scottish League we would pay a parachute payment to the other clubs and if not the difference with this for me is the club's all voted for us to go through what we have by sending us to the 2nd Division so we owe them nothing. Think the Tims would be a whole different story with their politics. If we get the chance let the rest for we owe them nothing really.

23 Apr 2021 19:57:10
TT were u born in scotland or england. Regarding borders. Just curious what town city? Not an argument what jobs your parents had. What side of the border were u born on? Kindly appreciate your honest response 👌💙💙💙💙💙.
