Rangers have made a second bid in excess of £500,000 for Hamilton Accies star midfielder Greg Docherty, STV understands.

Lets see where this goes.

22 Jan 2018 18:42:11
Anybody from Rangers or Hamilton saying same thing?
or usual speculation?

22 Jan 2018 19:30:36
Hamilton will not budge on their valuation of £650k, if we are to seriously consider stopping 10 in a row then in my opinion we should be snapping guys like Greg and similar prospects around us, over the road in the east end are not all they are cracked up to be, so if we are serious then pay the going rate, we are the people, pay them and get one of the outstanding prospects of Scottish football

22 Jan 2018 19:45:57
They value him at £600k not £650k we have reported offered in excess of £500k almost the total value after trying to negotiate a cheaper deal initially.
If we get him for say £550k that’s still £50k we save as a club. It’s better to have a reputation for being prudent when we are negotiating now so we don’t get hyper inflated values of players.
Anyway the deal will hopefully be concluded imminently

22 Jan 2018 20:19:03
Saying again middle ground has been met and could be ours by this time tom, source same one on twitter that's usually right although been a bit off with this one

22 Jan 2018 21:23:46
Can i just say this season is set up for us to win the league as Celtic are not what they're made out to be and this window shows that we are determined to stop terry munro so as big Marv would say keep believing.

22 Jan 2018 21:39:21
Need to see how we do on wed against the sheep if we do them easily then you never No but if we lose then what I no itl be every one on the band wagon to sack Murty am no being negative but the sheep played well the Other day

22 Jan 2018 22:46:22
Won't win league this year.

22 Jan 2018 18:22:38
STV Report 2nd bid in tonight for Docherty. In excess of £500000.

22 Jan 2018 18:28:17
Seen reported it has been turned down

22 Jan 2018 19:04:30
Where did you See this

22 Jan 2018 20:12:54
Apparently bid not rejected but talks ongoing

22 Jan 2018 21:11:12
It's been turned down because Accies. like all the others, have moved the goalposts. It seems this bid was £300,000 now (up from £100k) and £250k at the end of the season. Hamilton now want the lot up front, which was never on the table before. I believe we'll meet their demands but I for one would be shopping elsewhere and to hell with these Scottish clubs who despise us but crave our blue pound.

22 Jan 2018 21:44:15
Totally agree way u mate

22 Jan 2018 23:06:27
The problem seems to lie with what we are willing to pay upfront i bet if we went in with 500k up front we would have him in the squad we are not offering enough upfront that's why we are not getting him not hamilton moving the goalposts these low offers do more damage than good as clubs reluctant to deal with us thereafter so end up having pay more or move on to next player

23 Jan 2018 07:58:36
The problem is and will be for a considerable time. That we don't have the money to pay up front and clubs don't trust us to pay at the end of the season etc.

23 Jan 2018 08:23:23
We don't have the money cause Pedro spent on total diddies. How the board allowed this is disgraceful. Penny pinching at Scottish clubs but overpaying elsewhere. Would have preferred top quality Scottish rather than pena, herrara, dalcio, cardosa. This is why Scottish clubs are wanting value.

23 Jan 2018 16:47:29
'Top quality Scottish' is that a thing? 'Average Championship level players' is how it might be described elsewhere.

22 Jan 2018 17:17:01
Ryan Jack and Jordan Rossitor took part in a first team training session today.

22 Jan 2018 18:10:59
I'd love Rossiter to work out been impressed from the little I've seen since he's hardly featured through injury.
But he's got something.

22 Jan 2018 18:17:58
Agreed. He looks a cracking player in the slim glimpses we’ve had of him

22 Jan 2018 19:26:19
Great if Jack fit to play against the sheep tomorrow night. Thought he had been ruled out.

22 Jan 2018 19:48:59
The photo that's kicking about with Jack and Rossiter training is an old photo I believe. The squad trained at Auchenhowie today but the photo is at Ibrox.

22 Jan 2018 19:58:23
The photo is on the official Rangers website

22 Jan 2018 20:31:59
Unless the injured players were training at Ibrox but can't see it when the rest of the squad are training at Auchenhowie and we have a game at Ibrox in a few days. might be wrong tho.

22 Jan 2018 21:18:51
Jack and McCrorie both to see a specialist tomorrow to get definitive recovery timescales on both their injuries.
Rossiter back training today with no timescale places other than Murty being hopeful he will get to see him involved before the season concludes.

22 Jan 2018 21:28:16
Glad rossiter back in training, hopefully stay fit and not another false dawn, he's the best midfielder we have, will be like a new signing.

23 Jan 2018 12:08:01
what is all this praise about rossiter based on

does anyone actually know?

22 Jan 2018 16:15:02
Hamilton source says we r dragging heals on Docherty as his injury may keep him out for 4-6 weeks.
B4 we go on about source same guy who said we wanted him and had contacted hem

22 Jan 2018 15:45:55
Is it true that rangers have put a 10million price tag on morelos hope it is guy's.

22 Jan 2018 15:55:27
Couple of rangers pages reporting it mate but wether it is accurate or not I'm not sure

22 Jan 2018 21:06:55
Would take anything over 2m, don't get the hype on here, he is bang average and that’s being kind

22 Jan 2018 14:50:36
Sky sports Italia claiming we have accepted a bid from the Italian team who where interested in alves doesn't state what the bid is I assume it isn't a very big offer due to his age/ injury and that I think we are looking to offload some high earners

22 Jan 2018 16:48:58
It was reported in Scottish press on Saturday that Rangers had accepted the bid, so that's hardly news, and that it's down to Elves himself.

22 Jan 2018 18:03:32
Only posted because like a few guys on here have stated I wouldn't believe everything that Scottish papers write so when sky are reporting it then it is a little more credible

22 Jan 2018 18:17:41
Sky reported that Dembele was off to Brighton for 18 million

22 Jan 2018 14:47:03
Heard it on good authority that Docherty deal is close to being done with apparently Barjonas going there on loan till the end of the season.

22 Jan 2018 15:13:29
Fingers crossed Seeker. I've not seen much of the lad is he that much better than Barjo?

22 Jan 2018 15:46:34
Fake news, more Newspaper talk. Docherty won't be coming this transfer window unless we stop our penny pinching offers as usual and then offering peanuts and promising to stump up the money in the summer after season tickets are sold

22 Jan 2018 18:34:22
Straight from the horses mouth Alex (Jamie himself) . Believe it or not! Watch this space

22 Jan 2018 18:45:18
Alex - - why is it penny pinching? I don't see anyone else in Scottish football spending any money anywhere, and no bids from down south to argue with.

22 Jan 2018 22:51:53
I agree that we're not penny pinching! Just look at McLean going to Norwich for 150k! Half of Wat we offered and got slated for it! U can't tell me Docherty (as much as I like and rate him) and evenue Jones from killie have been playing to the standard McLean has for the past few seasons! Yet we get absolute pelters everyone we bid for someone!

Just goes to show . No1 likes us. we don't care!

22 Jan 2018 23:24:13
Agree 100% bluebaws

22 Jan 2018 10:04:42
Seen a couple of different pages claiming that sunderland are interested in the lad Bates with him only having 6 months left on his contract hopefully we can renew the lads deal as I think he has the makings of a good centre half

22 Jan 2018 10:13:56
Get him tied down, the days of letting good young prospects go should be long gone.

22 Jan 2018 12:22:46
It's 100% been his agent leaking a story to try and up Rangers offer, they're currently negotiating a new deal.

22 Jan 2018 12:27:34
Could be wrong but I thought the report said he had been offered a new deal but hadn’t signed it

22 Jan 2018 12:48:11
Let him go anyway not good enough

22 Jan 2018 13:34:56
Not good enough? He was excellent against Celtic his positional sense is brilliant for a young CB.
Get him tied down on a new deal maybe loan him to a spl club with option to bring back.

22 Jan 2018 13:45:22
Considering he's a supporter and getting first team action he will probably opt to stay if he is offered a new deal. Has he been offered one?

Sunderland are in a worse state than us at the minute, could be looking at league one next year if they don't sort it out.

22 Jan 2018 14:16:58
Bates is still young and raw. The Celtic game was proof that he can become a quality centre back. He has a lot of potential and we'd be stupid to let him go. Can't believe some people saying he's not good enough.

22 Jan 2018 15:37:58
Cmon fair play to the boy he's a trier but he shouldn't be part of our future unless its in the stands with us that's not negative its just my opinion

22 Jan 2018 16:09:20
Fergie 1981

I don't know how u can say that I really can't. He's a young up and coming CB he's looked good against experienced players. It's a hard position for youngsters to break thru and he's one of best I've seen for a while.

22 Jan 2018 16:36:41
Fergie 1981 I must say I agree with you.

22 Jan 2018 17:10:21
Are there any current Rangers players you do rate Rick? If not perhaps you should support Barcelona or some such team. Bates is 22 and has 2 motm performances away to our 2 biggest rivals. Morelos is 21 and is currently the top scorer in the league. Gi them a fecking chance! Your entitled to your opinion of course but to my mind supporters should support or at least offer constructive criticism.

Keep Believing!

22 Jan 2018 17:19:52
Bigmarv05 i'm giving an honest opinion on the boy no malice i would say he's a poor mans broadfoot my hearts in my mouth when the ball goes near him nothing personal to the boy n hope he has a good career but i reckon he's bottom end of spl level at best

22 Jan 2018 17:31:30
Fair enough Fergie. He's definitely not the finished article and shouldn't be a first pick. However he has the physical attributes for a young man in his position and his performance in the old firm alone for me suggests he could become a proper defender in time.

22 Jan 2018 23:00:13
Fergie1981, which suggest u were born the same year as me and only knew the good times as a lad same as me! . I long for those dominant days too but they're not here now, wee can't have a goughie, mcpherson, or even an Alan mclaren now! We have a big raw boy the could b moulded into a good big no nonsense centre half, give the lad a chance, your right he's not silky on the ball to say the least but he defends first and if that's his strength then let him play to it! He's definitely not a poor man's broadfoot by any stretch, he's better than kirk was at that age for sure
