Strong rumours that Tennents offered £500,000 per year for shirt sponsorship but Mr Green refused it. Offer still on the table but will not be increased. Any one else heard this?

Will this be ANOTHER hold up to the new kit and sponsors being announced then?

500k seems away over the top for a 4 tier scottish football team esp after Saturdays behaviour from fans and manager. TTTS

I'd heard it was Dry Blackthorn Cider which is owned by the same company as Tennents.

Anybody but Sports Direct for me!

What makes a rumour strong? Surely a rumour is just that A rumour lol

Rangers will get more than 500k, after all they are the most watched team in Scotland, both in the stadium and on the tv. It is a bad day for Celtic that a 4th division side are still more popular than they are

Post 5# celtics deal is for £6m, more if they meet certain targets. don't be so blind.

@ 5 I didn't even know their was a 4th division

He meant 4th teir, I am a Rangers man we shouldn't be talking about Celtic, just let's get on with our own agenda. They seem to be doing alright, let hope we can do the same.
Bobby

He should tell C&C to ram that, the size of the marketing audience has not decreased

Unfortunately the rangers brand is toxic at present and needs a period of rehabilitation. Events like the singing at Berwick (and Hampden) doesn't help. Sponsorship is a business venture to promote the product in a positive light. Associating a product with outdated discriminatory views is not appealing to businesses. Any deal will reflect the potential risk to companies

Good points Grout! let's face it that the goings on of the last year has damaged their sponsorship potential also! Do potential sponsors want to be associated with a club who has left over a hundred creditors high and dry as well as the HMRC too and carrying on as if nothing has happened?

Lets face it green is struggling to get sponsorship but is happy to lie to the supporters to keep the money coming in!
I hope for rangers sake they get an excellent sponsorship deal! But they aren't mending any bridges so far!

To the guy that says I am blind, how? Do Rangers get bigger attendances than Celtic? Answer - YES. Do Rangers get bigger tv audiences week in week out? Answer YES. So thatnot blind, that's reality. Sponsors pay depending on audience, Rangers get biggest audience in Scotland, so YES they will get more than 500k a year. I own a sucessful sales and marketing company, Rangers I estimate will get at least double that figure!

To the MD of the "succesful sales and marketing company"

I would have thought that the basis of succesful of marketing is knowing your demand and demographic. Also having as complete and accurate information on uptake as possible.

In this case I'm afraid you are incorrect on Rangers viewing figures. You are also in correct on the attendance figures. For the same number of home games (previous to Sunday24th Feb) Celtic have higher total attendance than anyone else in Scotland.

To the guy who ownes "a sucessful sales and marketing company" so why don't you get gers a better deal if your so sure. Tennants only one on the table. so where are the rest? certainly not kicking the door down to get on board. let's be honest some of the major sponsors are just not willing at this time to plow money into rangers given the events over the past year or so. I think they should take the deal as offered by tennants maybe for a max of 2 years then revisit the sponsorship issues when the club has risen back up the leagues are on a better financial footing. and before all those shoot me down by telling me that we are financially sound let me point out till financial report is posted we won't know as I'm aware that even with all the fans every week packing out every statium we attend there is still the rumour that we are still running at a loss. hance the reason I think Mr Green is trying everything in his power to get better deal which in my opinion is not achievable

Running at a loss a rumour? FFS Mr Green has stated this fact.

Sandy Alex, it is interested you say before Sunday the 24th, is that the day Celtic hand only 30 odd thousand as there attendance!
As for the person who says, why do you not help Rangers get a better deal, I would happily help if asked. Green is doing a good job, he is not taking the first offers on the table. The arguments that have been made about 4th tier are the sort of arguments potential sponsors will be selling to Green to try and keep price down, were as he will be coming from my angle. So their is a game of poker going on, and as long as Green holds his nerve as I expect he will get a fair price.

When Rangers were in admin I offered the administrators my services for free to help increase revenues, emailed them twice without reply. I ended up outside Ibrox in old firm day with a bucket, used my sales skills to raise 5k for the cause, and I can assure you I will always help Rangers in anyway I can, including holding a bucket, lol

Rangers played away that weekend so celtic would have had one more game at home. think before you reply.

i don't know the going rate for a scottish team in terms of sponsorship but imo it is going down all across the board even in sports such as f1. however, I don't share the marketing genius's opinion in us being able to have the pick of sponsors. I seen the ESPN apology on air and I don't think many companies fancy having their logo plastered all over the place when that sort of thing is happening.

It may annoy the odd sellick fan on ssb but ultimately the only people it hurts is ourself and the clubs coffers

Barry

Dear Sales & Marketing MD

Please do not mistake me for an Old Firm fan. I have in my time been under the OF GT* Banner.

I just think its wrong to misquote and not have one's facts correct ie. tv and The Guardian newspaper both quote Celtic v Dundee at just over 39,000.

AlexSandyBilly

Blackthorn cider, done deal 1. 2 million over 3 years i believe

The last time I seen domestic attendance figures placed rangers at 13 in europe and celtic at 20 definitely seems like more at ibrox

Ed can you post this comment as a seperate post please. it looks like tommorrow is d-day regarding the spl investigation and I for one hope if they try and strip us of titles that charles green lives up to his promises to fight this all the way. if we are found not guilty do you think we will get an apology I doubt it somehow.

Marketing and new sponsorship - surely Rangers are the biggest story in scottish football now and even when in admin. Whilst I was disturbed by the chanting and in no way condone it If I were a sponsor would it upset me that my shirts were seen on the news - would I be upset at additional exposure of my brand? There is a saying that no such thing as bad publicity! I believe that Kit sales will remain high, attendences, programme sales tv viewing figures etc etc are still high, additional news coverage whatever the outcomes of all our trials we are offering a bigger platform than normal and with the possibility of a feature film based on Rangers fall and extraordinary rise back up the leagues then we can command greater revenue from our shirts

For poster #5 even last season you were not the best supported team in Scotland, despite claims to the contrary figures from ESPN. com

as of May 13, 2012 attendances
1 Celtic total 967, 182 average 50, 904

2 total Rangers 880, 160 average 46, 324

Of course mate you are right companies bang on how they don't condone bigotry, racism, bullying in any way shape or form except in the instances when they sponsor a football team and it gets them on the news. there are some people who don't live in the same world as the rest of us

For poster #5 even last season you were not the best supported team in Scotland, despite claims to the contrary figures from ESPN. com

Those stats are a nonsense. These figures include the champions league fixtures where the crowd is significantly more than the SPL crowds.

You will also find that from FOI requests to Strathclyde police, the average crowd at Parkhead for SPL matches is somewhere in the region of 32K, not the 46K as stated by the club.

TV viewing figures for Rangers matches have also been higher but a significnat number of thousands.

I do however understand that even though Rangers have a higher domestic support than Celtic. The fact remains that with Celtic playing in Europe, sponsors brands are reaching a wider international audience. For this reason it would be expected that Rangers sponsorship revenue will be slightly lower than that of Celtic.

Lets be greatfull scottish clubs are getting sponsors wither its rangers or celtic or any other team the more sponsorship for all the clubs the better the game will be we all need to move on from this stupid tit for tat childish comments its embarrassing
