rangers are trying to strike a 10 million deal with hmrc so there will be no need to go in to administration
At 19.15 on Sunday evening where did you get this information. Go and do the dishes
This would make a bit of senseas if we go into admin the tax man would get zilch !
I refer the poster to rangerstaxcase.com and may i suggest that he/she contacts DW forthwith as I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear about this option. Listen - he'll 'shaft' you all!
I cant wait till i get my next tax bill then contact the tax man and tell him to forget all about the money and i will settle the debt by paying a fifth of what i owe, im sure they will gladly accept it and let me carry on about my business(!)
frankiebhoy
Frankiebhoy where are you getting the 1 fifth figure from its said it could be up to 49m no set figure as not certain if bill exists you are al just getting into this case to hide away from the state of you're shambles. here's a few other figures 3rd as in you're position or 12 as in the points you are behind or 4th as in 4th title in a row
Frankiebhoy, word on the street is that the taxman has tried unsuccessfully to get this money from other similar situations. It would make sense therefore that they look at striking deals to avoid expense legal cases, which won't be straightforward.
Rangers offered £10million over a year ago and were told to do one.
If you visit the HMRC website there is a section relating to EBT ( employment benefit trusts) Rangers used this scheme. The taxman is offering discussion with companies rather than go to court. Fact / on their website.
Arsenal owed them 300 mill if they lost asettle out of court for 13 mill FACT so doubt it wid be 10 would be alot less
Rangers used EBT's illegally. That's why HMRC are chasing them.If used legally,no problem.HMRC knocked back a figure of more than £10m offered by AJ.They want he lot.See the front page of tomorrows Daily Record.Sorry to say, told you so.
Why would they do that, Rangers have went to a lot of expense to get the tribunal to look at the tax demand - if anyone is brokering a deal - I must be HMRC.
I would agree that with the post above and frankiebhoy go worry about your own teams problems instead of being on the champions page, if you actually read the post most or all my fellow bears KNOW the taxman wont walk away with nothing so do us all a favour and go back to actually supporting your team instead of clutching at straws

Rangers used EBTs to pay salaries thus avoiding tax. That's illegal.Allegedly there are documents proving this,I don't know for sure.HMRC will not do a deal,They want paid in full. Also, when McIntyre tried to arrest £300k,the club didn't have enough money in the bank.that's why they went to the SPL,to arrest any monies due to Rangers. That's where the medal story comes from.Important part of all this is that RFC have less than £300k left in bank.We need £3m approx per month to survive. With no line of credit, unless someone comes in with cash,we're in big trouble. If(and it's a big if),club reaches the transfer window, then some of our top earners will have to go,and probably for fees a lot less than we'd expect. This is not about league titles,it's about the clubs survival.
Coming to a deal with the taxman is going into admin because you hav'nt payed your debt . so even if you're right it's still admin
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah. So nothing different from what we have heard a hundred times before then. Why is everybody posting stuff about this, wait and see what actually happens. Then you wont have to keep asking people the same questions, forget about it and wait till someone comes out and tells us bluntly, your team is bust, then we can all worry about the outcome rather than the what IFs that are flying around just now, BORED HEARD IT.
Coming to an arrangement with HMRC is not the same as administration, don't talk ill-informed snash. Administration means a third party is appointed to reliably run the club; KPMG would be the liklies candidate. It obviously wouldn't be in HMRC's interests to do more to the Bears than a wrist slap. The loss in Revenue from a diminuished Rangers would outweigh any gais clawing the tax back. No doubt this point will be made forcefully to them, as it would have been in the Arsenal case. {Ed002's Note -
The Arsenal case was for image rights not the EBT scheme. Two different things. Also the Inland Revenue information does not offer a reduced settlement - only to avoid legal action which incurs a penalty fee. Would they allow you or I to pay a reduced Tax bill - no way...
