Only when we signed Mo Johnston were the fans as divided as we are now. Surely it must mean something to the board that such a majority of supporters don't want to see McInnes as Rangers manager. This has created rancour and often nastiness where previously none existed and it will leave a whiff of bitterness that might be around longer than the new manager.

He'll have some job on his hands to prove to so many fans that he was worth all of this, and considering he's already buckling under pressure even before he is appointed, it doesn't look good. But every time those blue jerseys take to the field the whole playing and management squad will have our total support.

06 Dec 2017 20:18:39
if he gets appointed everybody should back mcinnes 100%

06 Dec 2017 21:28:12
Difference was like him or loathe him mojo was top notch a world class striker

06 Dec 2017 22:02:46
Majority of fans don't want him? According to what data? You talking to some mates down the pub aye?

06 Dec 2017 22:11:57
Ed allowed an online poll today * 60% of people who took part didn't want McInnes * Its only an online poll but from a respected fan site you can get an idea of how regular posters on here feel* McInnes at tbis moment in timd dosdnt appear to be our *special one*

06 Dec 2017 22:29:56
Bet you that same 60% were happy when we appointed a Portuguese manager from the Middle East who had previously managed in Mexico and somehow convinced themselves that it was the correct appointment.

06 Dec 2017 23:13:14
Dutycalls. . The fans are divided? Its a new manager we are talking about not a war with Russia! Get a grip of yourself. You will be burning scarves next. How was the poll before Pedro got the job? Was that 60%? Nobody knew who he was. Nobody! At least we know Derek McInnes and he is a good manager. give him a chance. Some of the so called fans on here should take a good hard look at themselves. If you don't want. bugger off then!

06 Dec 2017 23:19:08
If McInnes gets it I'll support him the same as I did with our last manager! He's not my number one choice but he's the one that is no doubt going to be unveiled as our great clubs next permanent boss! The last one was a mistake by the board and I also got to the stage where I hoped he'd leave or get the bullet! Whoever comes in I'll give my 100% support to him as I have done for the past 46 years of my life ( 32 of them as a season book holder ) and it rules me when I hear people or so called supporters of our club knocking someone before they even take up the mantle! If he brings something different I hope it takes our team forward like he did Aberdeen over the past few years and no one can deny he has done on a far limited budget than what was given to the last two Rangers managers! Let's all support our club and whoever takes up the reigns!

07 Dec 2017 08:47:05
Wish people would stop saying the magority don't won't mcinnes, it's not as simple as 60% don't want him, 40% do. Who would do better reallisticly, not counting people like Walter. In all the polls mcinnes gets 30 to 40% evreryone else at best 10 to 20% so he's the most popular in those terms. So people can stop with the listen to the fans, so if they listen to the fans, who is it then.

07 Dec 2017 10:31:02
Looks like it is going to happen now. I thought there were a couple of better options out there but at the end of the day if the guy is there to do his damndest to at least try and bridge the gap between us and that mhob, I will be happy with that. What I Don't want is a capitulation, as happened with MW and Pedro teams, especially against them where there were hugs and love fests at the end of the games. Let Brendan do the hugging after they have lost 5-1 or whatever. See how that goes.

07 Dec 2017 11:45:29
what a load of guff 5 weeks ago he was the best thing since sliced bread lol
rtid

07 Dec 2017 13:20:52
Personally don’t understand why anyone is against. Granted he’s not Gio, Pardew, Allardyce, De Boer but I don’t think they were ever realistic. He knows the Scottish game and I think he will take us forward but Lum is right, Rangers fans will support him when he arrives no matter whether they wanted him or not

07 Dec 2017 13:22:03
TheCampbell, the results of various polls and surveys on numerous sites including this one, which has had several, have consistently shown that a good majority of fans have been opposed to this appointment, often as many as 80%. Still, if the sand is deep enough to cover your head, then by all means stick it in.

07 Dec 2017 13:24:59
But that's just your assumption, your guess, Rick Witter. You can't even begin to back that up. Here's one for a start who didn't want Pedro. As usual you try to deflect rather than face facts.

07 Dec 2017 13:28:50
McInnes isn't my first choice but like any appointed Rangers Manager I will back him 100%.

07 Dec 2017 13:30:37
He’ll get the full backing when he gets here and so he should. with our money situation its always going to split the fans who we appoint but for what its worth i think McInnes will doa good job for us

06 Dec 2017 19:59:32
i really hope Barry Ferguson doesn't get no. 3 job, great player great Rangers man, but an arrogant prick of a man. My brother went to Ibrox as a soldier and tried to talk to him, only to be growled at. He was my bros fav player too. Ferguson great player aye, great person naw.

06 Dec 2017 21:48:34
Never had a problem with him the twice I met, once was a family wedding right after a Scotland game and he was great with everyone

07 Dec 2017 11:47:38
I’ve met him twice and he was brilliant. Gave me a signed strip and spoke to him for hours, honestly was my hero growing up, but I understand that you can’t be nice all the time! I know I certainly can’t 😂.

07 Dec 2017 13:29:10
I've known the guy since he was a wee kid. He's anything but arrogant, but his big brother is.

07 Dec 2017 13:32:49
Met Barry a few times and he was always a gentleman.1 of my all time faves

06 Dec 2017 19:55:56
Derek mcinnes played for rangers for 5 year only played 35 games and scored 1. that's 7 games a season.

Hes getting made out to be a total rangers man. A rangers legend with blue blood.

Whats the hype about this guy i can't get my head around it.

06 Dec 2017 20:55:50
I will support the team and manager but think we will be talking about our next manager within 12 months.

07 Dec 2017 07:14:29
Der-goalie I don’t understand your comment there! I’m sure that no one that knows you would ever say that you were not a rangers man! So why isn’t DM. You are sayin you don’t know why he is bein made out to be a rangers man because he only worked for the club for 5 years of his career? Surly what makes us all rangers men is our love for the club. Do you know DM personally to be able to say he is not a fan? I’m sure what make a rangers man is a person that grew up supporting our club regardless of their occupation. Why does actually working for our club for 5 years disqualify him as a rangers man in your eyes mate? How many years did u work at ibrox?

07 Dec 2017 10:34:36
To be fair to DM, he landed at Ibrox when the team were full of internationalists and some genuine world class players. His chances were bound to be limited. If he had been playing now he would have been a regular. Decent player, That's all

07 Dec 2017 13:21:07
I don’t think he’s being selected because he played for rangers but more based on the belief he can take us forward which I agree with. He’s the best of the market we’re in. Our downfall has often been jobs for the boys. Let’s give him a chance and a decent one at that

07 Dec 2017 13:23:14
Just because he hardly played doesn't mean he isn't a rangers supporter! How many games u played for rangers? Do u regard yourself a rangers man?

07 Dec 2017 13:33:24
He definitely scored more than 1

08 Dec 2017 08:53:46
I’ve never ever played any games for Rangers and I class myself as a total Rangers man. Same with my old man so your point is?

06 Dec 2017 15:58:42
Deal done. Announcement coming in next 24hr, going to be a 3 1/ 2 year deal. Docherty and looking likely B. Ferguson as no3 tho Neil McCann was first choice over Fergie.

06 Dec 2017 17:28:25
I hope so. Docherty I'm not so keen on, I'd have preferred murty no2 with Ferguson coming in still. We need his passion.

06 Dec 2017 18:35:14
Murty as the No 2 for me. TD’s allegiances are in the east end.

06 Dec 2017 19:56:10
We need Murty in the Academy!

06 Dec 2017 19:52:24
Ray Wilkins and JJ would be the assistants if I had to choose. Murty back to the youths since he’s done a good job there

06 Dec 2017 19:57:28
Lets see if your guess is right scotty

06 Dec 2017 19:58:29
I’m not against Doherty but I would have loved Murty to have been given some role with the first team. If not assistant then no 3. I’m happy with the impending appointment all things considered

06 Dec 2017 20:04:46
Dm will bring his number 2 and I hope JJ

06 Dec 2017 20:05:40
I’ve heard a lot of people say that Docherty’s allegiances are to the east, but is that the same for Miller, or for Mo Johnston? I can’t see any professional in this day and age not coming in and giving 100% for his employer. Saying that I still think that Docherty is crap and that Murty, JJ or someone else would be a better choice.

06 Dec 2017 10:21:28
Inside Fútbol saying that DM and TD not taking Aberdeen training this morning.

06 Dec 2017 10:59:31
**** TD would rather Barry Ferguson as assistant.

06 Dec 2017 12:29:00
Barry Ferguson, you're joking right? I just can't see what he would bring to the table.

06 Dec 2017 12:41:25
Would prefer Murty as his no2 with jj also involved

06 Dec 2017 13:06:56
DM will want his number 2 with him I hope Murty goes back to the young boys as we need a quality coach to keep working with and improving the youngsters we will have to wait and see if DM feels he needs more coaching staff but JJ and Ferguson could be good additions

06 Dec 2017 15:43:43
I hope dm and td stay where they are

06 Dec 2017 08:28:49
Ave got to agree with a comment forfarbear made. How can Rangers be to blame for taking 6 weeks to choose DM. They never came out and said we want DM. Look at the bookies, they know a hell of a lot more than us and they couldn't really decide.

The media has went on non stop about DM coming to us, does that mean Rangers then have to bid on him straight away?

Yes they took along time to decide, but not once have they ever stated DM is our man. Milne needs to reel his neck in a bit. Its all for show for the sheep. They will get mcleish straight in after DM moves to us and there fans will be happy with that.

06 Dec 2017 10:36:24
Exactly mate f#@k the lot of them rangers are getting stick for not appointing a new manager, getting stick for not keeping the fans informed, getting stick for Aberdeen being gash in recent weeks (that's our fault)?! You couldn't make it up the media are an absolute disgrace and it's absolutely no ones business but the rangers board to be involved with any of these matters! No one likes us we don't care!

06 Dec 2017 11:34:07
Good points flintytint except the part about McLeish, none of the Aberdeen fans I know want him.

PS Aberdeen fans in meltdown at the moment, blaming the Weegie media for unsettling him. LOL

06 Dec 2017 11:04:32
Jzer, everything is Rangers and the Rangers supporters fault in Scotland, it's got increasingly worse in recent years, we've even been getting the blame for non football related things like politics/ voting. Never known hatred like it.

06 Dec 2017 13:12:27
its not wrong though about the Voting or Politics, I see it with my own eyes everyday. People only believe in what the club believes in.

06 Dec 2017 13:49:49
Pennniarcade, and what does the club 'believe' in exactly? The club has no political ties whatsoever.

Fans may follow what other fans believe, but they do not speak for the honest majority, who form their own views and opinions.

06 Dec 2017 08:25:00
People asking why it's toòk so long to make approach for Mcinnes. I think the board have given the sheep too much respect and not made our approach until after the back to back games. Would them or any other team in this league afford us the same respect. Doubt it. We need to be more ruthless. If he really wants the job he will quit the sheep now. If he doesn't want to come, so what. We still move on and move up. We are Rangers after all.

06 Dec 2017 10:34:25
I think it was clever waiting until after the double header just look at Aberdeen’s form last 5 weeks.
We are now in the best position we have been in the league for months thanks to murty and some clever timing of approaching DM

06 Dec 2017 11:59:04
weve taken our time and handled this the way the board wanted

if we rushed in appointed DM straight away and lost a cple plenty folk on this forum wld tear board to shreds - with some people you just can’t win

board took their time made no approach and nothing public till they were ready and had done proper due diligence as i wld expect after the pedro appointment

we’ve done it by the book& leaked nothing to the media

if they or milne ain’t happy - too bad

rangers come 1st

06 Dec 2017 13:10:54
Don't want Docherty at ibrox, his allegiance's lie elsewhere, I want people who love the club

06 Dec 2017 08:24:54
Looks like Aberdeen are seeing if DM really wants the job at ibrox . he’s going to have to resign if he wants the job.

05 Dec 2017 23:24:39
Im not sure what to make about the approach for McInnes. If the compensation is close to the 800k to 1m being quoted i think that money could be better used elsewhere. I just don't think he is worth that outlay.

On the matter of who will be his assistant it looks likely that his long term assistant Tony Docherty will follow him to us. This guy is not good enough. It is nothing to do with who he supported growing up. I have first hand experience of Tony Docherty and he is useless as a coach. He was in the right place at the right time all the way through his coaching career. I was on the YTS at Falkirk for a couple of years and he basically came in and took credit for a great youth set up that had been in place for a few years prior to him arriving.

Wilkins or Murty as assistant for me although I also hear good things about JJ so why not keep him.

06 Dec 2017 02:04:33
Completely agree. I really hope JJ gets kept on in some capacity since he’s shown he has an eye for a player as well.

06 Dec 2017 08:29:32
It's a big No from me to the pair of them, especially Docherty. I too have come across this person and his 'coaching' skills I've witnessed first hand. He's an imposter who has a pal that keeps him in work - apart from the other, obvious reason that he despises Rangers.

06 Dec 2017 11:36:37
No idea about Docherty guys but if he is such an imposter do we really want a manager who puts such trust in him?
