Heard Defoe now on about 20k a week after a wage cut
It’s a lot of money for a player who doesn’t get a lot of football
not sure how we can justify such a wage for a player who barely plays
yes he’s a professional who keeps himself in excellent shape
But doesn’t merit 20k a week in wages
Especially for a club who needs too lower wages and bring in some money from what we read and hear
and we shouldn’t be in business to help friends
blue tints off business head on not good business acumen

How many games played this past season and how many goals scored did it merit his wages past season and does 20k merit his more than likely last playing season for us?
Coaches role surely doesn’t pay 20k. A week? If so I’m in wrong job?

Bearsden yes it is, when I wrote in February he was finished, I was shot down and told he was Davis replacement who would captain our club for years.

There was a rumour he is getting 5k a week plus same if in match day squad. Defoe himself says he was not leaving and the new deal was not about money.

Mind that whatever wage Defoe is on it’s for 2 roles, player and coach, I have zero info on what he is on but was told he took a hefty cut without any hesitation. He was desperate to stay.

I believe that Defoe is worth every penny no matter how much he gets a week. His influence around the place I'd hugely visible in the growth of our attacking players. I think his worth can be seen in the growth of Morelos. He has went from a goalscorer with a temper maturing into an outstanding all round forward that is developing self control.
As for Gerrard replacement when he goes I do think they are already at ibrox but it won't be Defoe. I think his replacement will be Beale if still with us. The guy is undoubtedly a talented coach and think he could step up to being the main man.

Much the same as sir walter smith stepped up to become rangers manager, when graeme souness left us for liverpool mate 🤔 I hope to god michael beale will follow gerrard as rangers manager, but in that interview with him a month back, he hinted where he was wanting to be a manager and it wasn't in scottish football with us sadly 😞.
