I've said this before on here (before the summer chaos last year) and say it again.

RFC need a COACH i. e. e someone who will teach, develop, bring on, etc bright young prospects and at the same time achieve a good "blend" with more experienced older players and get a) a balanced team / pool for competition and b) potentially develop future starts and / sell on fees.

I am not convinced Ally is the man to do this, nor his backroom staff.

Too long now they have made bad buys, failed to spot talent that others can pick up - Billy MacKay at Caley Thistle, etc.

I say move Ally into a commercial / ambassador role and get Derek MacInnes with suitable coaching staff plus add in talent scouting system and a) grow our own b) only buy a bit of quality if non Scots and c) blend with some older heads - then keep this as a well oiled machine for now and the future.

All the best Guys.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON ALLY MOVING aside as he just not cutting it, imagine him in the SPL lucky if we would be top 6 finish, I would love Gers to go with youngsters and buy the best youngsters they could and sell them on, even better coach them rather than say he's a good prospect

Agree3 Disagree1

Am a celtic fan and I think the answer is in front of you kenny mcdowel was our youth team coach and I don't think he lost many youth league, s and brought through a lot of youth players I think he's wasted on the first team bench if he was head at murrey park with the youth he would be worth his weight in gold

Agree3 Disagree1

Hi M8, I agree wholeheartedly, though I strongly believe billy Davies was, and is the perfect fit, a real ger, like ally, but with great experience and knowledge, and fantastic connections in c, ship etc, we missed a trick there, no doubts, billy would walk to ibrox,, Forrest 4 wins from 4 already, he, s only been there a month, how did we miss this man,?. we all love Ally and always will, but I hear terrible rumours of no coachibg at MP and no, one seems to know wot a defender is? Please run these defenders out of town and get sum real men in. Tommyblue

Agree4 Disagree3

Ally is doing a good job. he just needs another 8 years.

Agree4 Disagree2

I think it's absolutely clear what the club needs and the fans want. Just look at the response to this post so far! I hope Charles Green looks at this site. The message is clear. No disrespect to Ally. He's been tremendous through this last 12 months but it's time to plan ahead and lay the foundations for the next 140 years. We will always Follow Follow but let's do it in style, with pride and the values that made us Glasgow Rangers. How good will it be to see exciting attractive football gracing the Ibrox turf once more and the blue flag flying high. e.

Agree0 Disagree3

I see where your coming from, I feel McCoist deserves a crack at this once the embargo has been lifted, some of his signings to date have left a lot to be desired but it was always going to be a tough ask to convince players with any pedigree to join in SFL3. I do agree with a more football wise coach coming in to work daily with the players and I've been saying all along Ray Wilkins would be a great appointment. What's your thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree2

Green can't afford to sack Ally, its simple economics.

I agree. Just today we had the top scorer in the league lined up on the wing. He scored a goal, and the only time anything exciting happened is when Little was in the box.
Why would Ally not move him in the middle right after our goal?

Loyal and lovable, but I'm afraid Ally is tactically inept.

Agree1 Disagree2

Enough, is enough! In Charles Green's own words "Worst Rangers team ever". I hate to say this, and I take no pleasure repeating myself again, Ally must go, and go now! The team are a shambles, and must not be allowed to hide behind the excuses any more. Yes, it has been a horrible last couple of years, and yes we have taken an almighty battering from all sides. But this must stop, and unfortunately that means removing Ally from his post. And please, don't give me all that crap about giving him a chance once he has some money to spend. Because I will tell you right now, I would not let him within a thousand miles of the reported 10 million transfer kitty Charles Green has promised. The transfer policy of Ally and his scouting team is a shambles, with only a couple of exceptions, the players brought in, and those being linked, are a joke! Come on, a Brazilian, a Greek and a French dud brought in for the lowest league in Scotland? I know that this post will be lambasted by those loyal to Ally, and there will be the inevitable post calling me a traitor, or a Celtic fan. Fair enough, we are after all entitled to our own opinion, and loyalty is not a bad thing. But guys, if it can happen to a European trophy winning captain, it can happen to anyone. Sorry Ally, I really am, but you just ain't up to it and it is time to go!

Agree2 Disagree2

Agreed! Ally should move on the summer he's been amazin holding us together but this season has been like pulling teeth! A fresh start with back room staff and coaching staff! Ally can come back in 10 yrs once he's learned his trade!

Agree1 Disagree2

09 Mar 2013 19:10:10
Come back in 10 years? He will be older than sir Alex Ferguson by then! {The Ed039's Note - Not quite but I see your point. I think Rangers will be McCoist one and only job in management. He will go back to TV when/if he finishes at Rangers)

Agree0 Disagree2

Whether Ally goes or not, I think we need to move Jig to centre defence for the rest of the season, and then hopefully get a couple of proper defenders in for September!

Agree0 Disagree2

Agree with the guy about Kenny McDowell (spelling) Murray parks been a disaster zone for a good while, let McDowell run it and bring in his own men to run the individual teams, there's guys playin 3rd div footie on mega wages when its not needed!
Rangers trying to buy there way back up which is fair enough. There's no money in Scottish Fitba, once in the SPL the young players will be pitched in and be lucky on a top 6 (and I mean lucky) get it sorted and get a head start!?

Agree0 Disagree2

JDC Original poster here.

Bear in mind I put this on last night so before today's game!

Some good comebacks here, even from the Celtic guy so cheers for that.

I say this now (and I am hearing plenty of stuff up here in the Highlands).

Butcher for manager with Mal;pas and could do a lot worse right now than basically snap up a few ICT guys - MacKay, the Shinnie brothers, plus pick off a couple of Motherwell boys etc. Pick the bones from Hearts, Dunfermline and the other "armageddonesque" clubs this summer.

Also Butcher appears to have a) good scouting network down south b) ability to do a lot with NO money plus he's genuinely passionate, loves Scotland (he has been a great ambassador for the Highlands and Inverness) and after Greig, in my opinion is the best RFC captain of the modern era.

If players were in D 3 or D 2 and didn't play for him, he'd personally escort them to the door!

So my prediction is TB for the job before or by the summer.

You heard it here.

Cheers Guys

Agree0 Disagree2

Could you imagine if we were in the spl right now we would be bottom of the league if we played celtic we would get humped 10 nil and that's no joke

Agree3 Disagree1

I don't even know where Annan is!! {The Ed039's Note - Its in the borders, a few miles from Gretna)

Agree0 Disagree0

In 10 yrs ally will be 60 that is about age Walter was when he came back and nobody moaned. {The Ed039's Note - Walter had a track record of success at Rangers and had done a great job with Scottish national team, there is a big difference there)

Agree0 Disagree1

I fully agree. There is too much of this "jobs for the boys". Neil Murray as Chief Scout, what a joke. One of the worst football players ever at teh club and he looks to be following suit as a scout.

As for MacDowall; our tactics and general quality of play has been quite awful since he arrived. He should be the first to be shown the door.

The team has no skill, no fight and no motivation.

Agree0 Disagree1

Sorry jig up front don't work. Little wins more in the air. better leap better spring, onthe move as soon as he hits the ground, better runs, better for the team. He may be a better player than we give him credit for.
I dragged my brother back to Ibrox this year because of our plight. He hasn't been a regular since the late sixties, after today he will not be renewing his season ticket. the quality of football has been awful. Charles take note. Ally don't play players because of their attatchment to the club, it'll cost you your job. Love you man.

Agree0 Disagree1

Terry Butcher or Stuart McCall would do a job for us.

Agree0 Disagree2

Crowds are going down, simple economics will show if the product is terrible it won't be bought.

Agree3 Disagree0

Derek Adams and not just because of todays result he took county from the third division with a lot less money

Agree0 Disagree2

Butcher's missus won't move out of Drumnadrochit mate! That's why he blew out the Barnsley gig!
He lives in a beautiful part of the world and spends most of his time and effort kicking back shooting salmon in beautiful surroundings, and generally having an idyllic time of it.
The rest of it, he spends getting paid to follow his life's passion, whilst exceeding at a job that he can do very well with one hand tied behind his back.

Now given that (a) Govan is a hell hole and (b) yer average blue nose has the sophistication, forgiveness and understanding of a broken bottle and (c)
he doesn't need the money and (d) Charles Green is a teensy weensy bit scary (in a 'One flew over the cuckoo's nest' sense)
I reckon that, on balance, y'all need Butcher more than he needs you!
Not saying it won't happen. Just trying to inject a wee bit o realism into the blue tinted specs, there!
(Caley fan!)

Agree2 Disagree0

Derek Adams is a more likely prospect. He's def up to the job for you. And unlike Butcher, he probably COULD be BOUGHT in.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think todays game was a one off ok we didn't play well but sometimes this happens in games all credit to annan today everybody keep calm

Agree0 Disagree1

To the caly fan. Shooting salmon sounds like a fun sport.
I need to give it a try someday.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the Caley Fan.

Absolute fair comment re Butcher and his very idyllic and settled family life, house in rural area outside Inverness, etc.

However, you can still live in the Highlands and commute to Glasgow (in fact if I were Butcher I'd insist upon this) and stay in a flat / hotel mid-week for training, etc, jeez there are EPL players in England commuting between Carlisle and Norwich.

It's also about the passion - after all he was Rangers captain, plus his clear desire to test himself and embrace a challenge and re the "scary Charles Green" thing - I know what you mean but if anything Green would be more scared of big Butcher when he bursts into a room!

So, expect to see the exit of Butcher to Ibrox along with a choice few players as well.

Caley can have McCoist!
JDC

Agree0 Disagree0

I think big butcher will be the manager within the next 3 years

Mexicans and Hondurans for the lower leagues in Scotland, have you not learned anything ally?

Believable37 Unbelievable29

We should be going for players who we know are tried and trusted. we have a Transfer Budget.
Fauré, Cribari, and Argyriou have not been great signings maybe its a new chief scout we need

Agree0 Disagree0

FFS john Daley got mentioned and he wasnt wanted,, amazing what a home defeat does! 30 or no, he's the type of player needed. Get real.

Can I have the views, my uncle and me have been talking of this for a bit now, what do we do with ally in my view I say keep him but my uncle says he has too go now as one or two year down the line going in too the top flight it will split the fans and club and in his views he has not got it great player but lacks it as a boss and for the good of the club he has too go now if rangers are too go forward it's a catch 22 but what is the views of the masses, I think he is thinking with his head but I personally think the heart has too come in too it as well, but his view is it will be more humane in the long run and in rangers interest as a club that wants too go forward

Believable22 Unbelievable14

To my fellow rangers fans, do you follow rangers, because you love rangers, or because you hate celtic if it is the latter, go and play golf or take up fishing, OLD BOB,

Agree1 Disagree0

Give Ally a break, judge him on next seasons cup runs, if he fails in them in the same manner then time for him to go. CG will be demanding full season ticet prices soon and cup results are key to the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi, Its obvious you love ally like most of us, and your torn between wanting a fresh start and having coisty as boss, we need a new broom, Ally has been wonderful, but his defence proves he doesn't know wot one is, he was an out and out scorer, after all, A true gers legend, but its time for a real football manager i'm afraid, Tommyblue

Agree2 Disagree0

Tommy blue. As I said in another post. We had 2 weeks to put a team together! Support the team! Get a grip!
