Warburton has said himself he is looking at players to bring in during January that are of premiership quality. It's all about trying to build for next season and it's better to get players in during January and giving them 6 months to bed in rather than sign them in the summer and hope they hit it off straight away.

Players usually cost more in january however.

It'll be bosmans mostly I should think. Maybe some small fees after they've signed the bosman to get them straight away.

Yeah but he said one player or two maximum will be brought in January, does everyone think that's enough?

We need two central defenders, a defensive mid, quality playmaker, and two strikers- just to bring us to a standard capable of a top half finish next season.

In terms of competing with Celtic or Aberdeen then we need major investment with 2-3 players of real quality on top of improving squad.

MW is never going to admit this publicly, it would be a slap in the face to the current squad and hardly boost morale. The truth is the current squad is good enough for a very poor standard but has struggled every time we have played a half decent side.

Sadly with the whole Ashley king hmrc saga, major investment in the team is highly unlikely in the near future.

Frank McParland will be looking at Non League players and Div 2 in England. Players these days from Div 1 down there are going for £1 mill plus. McParland comes with a great pedigree for finding those gems, he used Vardy and Ali as a recent examples of guys being down the lower leagues then making their way up and then talking in huge transfer fees for their clubs.

I think this is a great approach. Thoughts?

Bell, Wallace, Ball, Law, Oduwa, Zelalem, Clarke, Miller, Templeton and Shields all out of contract/returning from loan spells at the end of the season so I think it's fair to say a good few will need to come in between January and the window in the summer.

Ps. Obviously I'd like to keep Wallace but I don't think that can be guaranteed.

That's actually a pretty fair assessment Luigi. As you say although we have looked good up to a point, when up against a better caliber of team we have fallen short. Yes we probably should have been beaten Hibs but that's the point here, we didn't. A better standard of player and we would have put them to the sword. You can talk about luck all you want but a natural goal scorer would have converted the chances created and therefore luck wouldn't be required. I feel that against St. J, we needed a) that goal scorer as there were plenty of chances created and b) that defensive midfielder to offer a bit of protection to the defence. Otherwise I reckon we're not too badly off other than that. Though I don't get paid to build and coach footy teams so I'm sure someone will "put me right! "

See Luigi is still trying to fool us all with the old 'WE' nonsense, ! He just told us how very poor we are? , come out of the closet pal. Ure fooling no. one
Tommy.

I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on players we could sign. Billy King would be a good signing at that cost but I believe we have players in the U20's who could do equally as well given the chance. In the build up to Xmas surely we should be checking out the likes of Ross Lyon, Ross McCrorie and Josh Jeffries. I believe that Craig Halkett has just completed his loan with Berwick too so should be pushed up to bench. We need to see these lads now against teams in the championship before we start spending money on higher quality signings that may not be necessary. We've got Dumbarton, Raith, Morton and Falkirk before the big match vs hibs at the end of Dec. Ample chance to give these youngsters a crack at the whip.

TomTom12 - there's something wrong with your Sat nav. Not sure what closet I'm supposed to be in.

Are you suggesting I'm pretending to he a rangers fan? If so you have a world class imagination or your on a daily diet of LSD. Perhaps you should take up creative writing?

It seems SDM is in talks to rescue the steel works in Motherwell and cambuslang. great if he saves those folks jobs especially at this time of year. Now after our well documented fall from grace after selling to the unmentionable one if he feels as bad about the sale as he made out in the media why not invest in rangers again to try to make it right.

I don't mean being on board or nothing but surely he could put a few of his millions to good use at ibrox and it may go a long way to redeeming himself personally wouldn't want him or his money near us but was wondering what you guys think? . And please don't tear me to shreds guys lol.

David murray has a heart off gold and I cannot believe that he is just after some good PR for himself, remember he never took a penny out of Rangers lol.

Just discovered yesterday actually he seems to have been charging the club half a mill per year for tax advice. Some man.

10 Nov 2015 10:17:15
Don't know if I'm correct here but I think he lost most of his money in the crash.

10 Nov 2015 23:07:58
He might buy if the price is right, and asset strip?

11 Nov 2015 14:15:37
Are you guys on drugs? Murray ruined the club and you want him back?! Everything that has happened is because of him.
