Just a heads up Bears with a big disclaimer, i'm no expert and only picked up the info from the interweb, but hope the info shines a light on Ivan Toney for anybody interested.

Didnt know anything about him and now interest "seems" to be picking up thought I would have a wee look at him.

English, 24 yrs, 6 foot 2 (internet says 5 10 but he's is much bigger) . Last 2 years in L1 94 games and 49 goals.10 yellows last year no reds although red for fighting when he was 18, and 1 red in 2018 for handing the ball in the line. Right footed.

From what I can see from Youtube LOL, he has a great touch, nice bit of close skill in and around the box, decent pace, can hold it up, takes decent free kicks, not afraid to shoot from OUTSIDE the box and generates very good power, good percentage of goals from headers some quite brave and some generation of power from the head, takes penalty's can see a pass in the box rather than wasteful shots.

If this guy has a good attitude and doesn't seem to be prone to injury I would be delighted if we signed him. On the face of it looks to be a more complete player than the likes of Dykes/ Cosgrove/ Shankland.

I know its a whole other world playing for Rangers and any new player might not work out however IMO he is the exact type of striker we need and can see why they are looking for top dollar. 442 with him and Dafoe up front would give some teams the frights.

After reading tjbb I think this player will go to a champions League team in one of the top 3 league’s 🤔.

He is a quality finisher and has good vision, I'm also a West ham supporter and keep an eye on the English leagues due to various prospects we have out on loan. I would love him to be at rangers prove himself and follow Morelos in being a 20mil sale for rangers.

Eng 3rd div though

Various players in SPL are regularly cited on these pages as not good enough for Rangers due to the ‘level’ they play at so why not Toney?

Morelos being touted for Napoli, Everton and other EPL clubs yet we allegedly want to replace him with player from Eng 3rd div - that’s doesn’t add up for me sorry.

Where did fredo come from? Finland and I would say league 1 in England is probably the same if not a better standard.

Do you think we are going to buy a striker doing it week in week out from a top league?

There are Gems to be found in the lower divisions but we need to be lucky. As previously mentioned, James Vardy is an example. Equally, the lower divisions are full of players who had "potential". It is a matter of making the right choice. Over to you - Ross Wilson and Steven Gerrard.

Why now guys is english league 1 so good? We signed 3 players from Wigan and everyone said 2 of them were rubbish and the other one should not be our captain according to some on here. We also signed 2 from accrington Stanley and that never turned out great either.

KJ

I didn’t say he wasn’t good enough

I simply pointed out the number folk on here regularly get down on players (usually Scottish) for not being anywhere near good enough for Rangers, due to level they play at

Then talk up a player from 3rd tier in England

It’s the double standards I’m pointing out.
