Would also be a big dent in our European aspirations if he was to go. Need to get his contract extended and improve terms and get another good year out of him and then inevitably he will go at the end of the season. Hopefully not now.

Really really don’t want to lose Bassey this season I honelsty think he is irreplaceable for us right now he’s getting better and better and if we make champions league and he has another great season he could be goi g for £40 million next year
He’s too good in my opinion to let go just now and we could t replace the lad with his quality he’s shown
Honestly I will be absolutely gutted if we lose him this season.

He’s not going to Ajax. Even the original report seems to be more of a case of the reporter putting 2 and 2 together (ie Ajax selling a CB / LB for a lot of money and probably wanting a replacement, and Bassey being a CB / LB) . Ajax don’t tend to spend the amounts of money we would want for Bassey on their signings and Gio has just come out in an interview and talked about now not being the time for Bassey to move on. I doubt he would say those kind of things unless he was pretty sure that Bassey wasn’t wanting to leave just now.

Bassey won't go, not with the defense we have right now. We couldn't replace him with the same quality for £25m and we need him for the CL qualifiers which woukd be for more lucrative financially then selling a massive assett.

What worries me here is getting a good replacement in and ready for the CL games.
