We paid around 1.7/ 1.8m for him, he’ll be 30 in September and although yes he is a good finisher the rest of his overal game is quite limited, probably the reason why he’s had such a nomadic career and barely spent more than a season playing for the same club. No offence to the guy but he’s clearly not Beale’s type of player so if we can move him on for a profit, get his wages off the bill and use the money to help bring in a player that will improve the squad for the way we are going to play then it’s not a bad deal.

John - Fully understand all clubs have players who run down contracts but financially we are not in same boat financially as Man Utd etc and other big clubs and our people need to be smarter regarding sales at right time - and when good profitable players do not wish to extend contacts to suit club its then time to sell them - does that not make for a more sound financial footing - look across city and tell me that they have not profited at correct time with many players and then they can buy again - we thought it was done when Terry Munro was stopped and we have stagnated - hence the many players bought in at moment when team should have been gradually been being topped up.
We can't afford the Kent 7 mill deal to happen again without some cash back - that's ALL I AM SAYING.

Fed up reading about us letting people rundown their contracts it is the players right to do so and there`s nothing we can do. We could have sold them a couple of seasons ago but the club decided they were more valuable to us to stay . Would we have made the Europa Final and banked the money we did if we had sold them?
