Surely when you have a vote of no confidence against you, then you leave? Unheard of to try and resist and stay on.
Smith threatening to leave is blatant blackmail. A veiled attack on season ticket money revenue by walking out. A juvenile position for a director to take. It appears to have bought a few days grace.
I don't think Walter smith should be on any board. He instinctively thinks only spending big money assures success and nothing else will do. I don't even know if he and Ally have an O level between them. He probably thinks the money at rangers will always look after itself.
I'd rather have frugal businessmen in charge than passionate about football types with no sense of business.

They commonly say that for any football club to become a successful business that there has to be someone at the top who makes decisions with there head and not there heart. I think that sentiment is in your post somewhere. The obsession with immediate success and the old habit of giving jobs to the boys all must be avoided in favour of a long term plan, a cold concise attitude is what's needed. No arrogance, no more mouthpieces pandering to the illiterate element. Businessmen, with legitimate honest backgrounds who are the best Rangers can attract in there individual fields. And 100% clarity. Rangers are a PLC now and still there's the cloak and dagger bullish*t, to go along with the lies being fed to supporters.

Rangers need massive change. It would revolutionise the club. Reinvigorate it. And with that, the honesty, the careful financial management and the stability it would then gain, the already dedicated support would swell to unprecedented levels when considering the current financial climate.

The only worry is, that dream seems so far away at the minute.

Note how I use the word dream! It really shouldn't merit having to use that term for something so basic, something so mundane, so ordinary. Its just sums up how much of a farce the whole thing has been/become.

2.) 11 May 2013
Thanks someone else who doesn't think walter is as brilliant as some

3.) 11 May 2013
Dunno about O levels but I can tell you between them they have 44 winners medals

4.) 11 May 2013
That is why Murray won't go. He might be the only one there who really has Rangers best interests at heart. Maybe he knows that cuts must be made and a long hard few years might be ahead.

5.) 11 May 2013
You have no clue what has went on behind the scene's to make Walter Smith even contemplate resigning. How anybody can honestly think that him and Ally have anything but the best interests of the club at heart is beyond me. Between the 2 of them they have over the last 25 years had a say in most of our major honours.

6.) 11 May 2013
Green raised vote of no confidence, its 3-1 (1 abstention) against Malcolm, then Smith offers resignation if vote stands, vote is withdrawn, and Malcolm stays in place.

Now - its leaked that vote occured. so release minutes - which if they don't record vote - it did not happen!

This is all spin, as green & cohorts look to continue the battle in the boardroom for RiFC.

Green/Ahmed/.

vs Murray/Smith "who not putting in anymoney".

We seen all Ahmeds leaks and posts, we seen greens briefing to press about MalcMurry issues (?) - its a media campagin against the two real rfc fans on the board Smith & Murray

Legg/McMurdo lapping up the green lies and spins.

7.) 11 May 2013
"Unheard of ". Really!
What about the Glazer's at Man Utd?
I'm getting really fed up of people spouting nonsense regarding two of our clubs iconic servants over the last thiry years. What Ally and Walter have done between them for our club deserves more merit and appreciation than those demeaning comments and you really need to have a word with yourself mate.
Sir Alex is worshipped at Manchester United for his services over twenty six years, and NL is worshipped over the road for his services as a player and manager. Your comments regarding faithful Rangers servants are a disgrace, and even more so if you are a bear.

8.) 11 May 2013
@4 come on how long has walter been back, yet he has not told the supporters a thing, ally has had day to day contact from the start with charles green, what has he told the support, let us be honest with ourselves, the club we know as rangers is being cleared away from the inside and all that will be left is a shell admin and maybe liquidation again I think, at least bomber spoke out, shame on you walter and ally, true rangers men would go with there gut instinct

9.) 11 May 2013
It's disrespectful to the Board not to leave. How can you continue to lead Directors who don't want you? And by disrespecting their judgement.

Walter going to the media with idle threats because he has a differing view to the majority Board members is puerile. It's not the behaviour of a non executive Director at all. Classless.

There has to be a single vision. Not a split. It should be the majority board democratic position without dirty little deals or else months down the line same festering problem.

10.) 11 May 2013
Murray refusing to go after a vote of no confidence is bringing the club into disrepute. I trust the silence is the board finding a replacement and agreeing the compensation package.

11.) 11 May 2013
Todays herald.1m share institutional investor claims to have been misled by Green. Backing Murray.
Murray is the only proven honest man on that board. Its why they want him out so badly. The rest of them have all been caught with their fingers in the cookie jar to a greater or lesser extent.
And this why your spending £300K on an investigation - Its basically to find out how many of your board are crooks!

12.) 11 May 2013
POB - Do you have no problem with Ally backing Whyte to the hilt even a week or so before administration?

Or backing Green and his share issue?

Or for that matter Walter taking a seat on board specifically to get bears to part money on a share issue that was always going to lose them money.

13.) 11 May 2013
@ #12 -No name poster.
As a Rangers supporter I have no problem with AM or WS at all.
Along with the forty odd thousand who go to Ibrox every other Saturday, Walter and Ally included, we do what we can to try and help the club. Have you ever considered that they either don't know, are constrained by legal terms, or are waiting for investigations to be completed? Of course WS will back the share issue, it was crucial to the future of the club.
Everyone who bought shares did the same, they backed CG to the tune of 22 million, why have you got a problem with that?
Next time leave a name so as we can tag you for future posts.
Question for you "Mr Anonymous".
Did you do your bit for the club and purchase any shares?

14.) 11 May 2013
Ally and Walter have the club's best interests at heart? No doubt. But they have their own interests at heart first. And what IS the club's genuine best interests conflicts with their Ideas. Neither of them in my opinion are competent to be anywhere near running a big football club. McCoist shouldn't get another year.
I believe a new manager with his own coaches beside him would energise and invigorate the club. Butcher or McCall would double the ticket sales of McCoist.
A huge error would be to retain McCoist on the payroll. He would need to leave for 3-5 years.
But what Walter and Ally think is best for the club most probably isn't the best way forward they have no competence in such things. They haven't spent their lives being board members managing big clubs. They did spend decades under SDM experiencing how not to do it (which they mistakenly think is correct).

15.) 11 May 2013
Post 6 & 11 make the most sence!

For me it all goes back to Murray, if he hadn't chased the dream then 9 in a row wouldn't have happened. Signing players at 12m was always going to fall flat one way or another.

As it stands the rangers have 2 key things. Assets & fans. Both of which can make money.

The first problem is who owns the assets? After nearly 15 months since admin it's still no clearer who owns these grounds. Is it Craig whyte or Charles green or even Murray? This is the first thing a buy will look into, next buying a club. It has its pros & cons. To be successful at any business more so sport you need fans, they spend money for the owner to make money. If this means saying what the fans want then say it, bit like the buying off a used car at Arnold Clark talk the patter, reel you in get the money happy days. Greens doing that. He also brings in the ex manager & who the fans regard as one of the all time greats, all the things to do to make money. Now any club is a business first & fore most Murray seems to be thinking green is upto something that long term won't help rangers hence all this carry on of him being asked to leave. And as post 6 says if there was a meeting then show the minutes of it.

The media have totally bowed down to rangers over the years & more so since whyte messed it up. It took a war correspondent from down south to question what's going on at ibrox as the scottish press bottled it.

Fans can talk with there money as its season ticket sales time, you have 2 "supporter" groups who I believe a lot of the rangers fans don't like however the fans need to stick to there "we are the people" & stand up to this board with solid enough questions to what needs answered. Maybe that way you can stick to your above saying rather than we are the sheep - follow whoever is in control of the club & line there pockets.

Lenny

£300k investigation? £300k buys 536,000 shares!

That's more than half the guy speaking out for Malcolm Murray, who decides to remain anonymous. Absolute rubbish. Does the guy exists? Is it Ally? Is it Walter smith? Plc's just simply are not run by the anonymous opinion of a minority shareholder. If a shareholder isn't happy they should sell. Very simple. It's called the market.

17.) 11 May 2013
POB - No I didn't buy shares as I said from more or less the moment he arrived that Charles Green was Craig Whyte mK2.

Saying that if I had the chance to buy them for 1p as Ally did then obviously I would have put my hand in my pocket.

Mr Anonymous

PS Been watching Rangers since the 1979s regularly.

18.) 12 May 2013
(16). except its not about how many shares he owns. Its about whether the flotation was fraudulent and he was misled. along with all the bears who put there money in!

How many bears put money into this floatation?
How many would have put money in if they had suspected Craig Whyte still had a claim on the assets and could be lining his pockets on the proceeds of it. But that was a real risk, and one that Charles Green knew about, but refused to publicise, despite a legal duty to do so.

Craig Whyte wrote to Charles Green on 12 December and told him that he was laying claim to the title, as per the agreement Craig Whyte alleges they reached at the time of the acquisition of the assets from liquidation (and which has been supported by taped evidence). Charles Green had a duty to inform Cenkos, AIM and the RIFC board of this risk. Craig Whyte informed him of this duty to disclose the risk in the letter.

He did not. Instead he withheld the information. But he had a legal duty to disclose this as a material risk in the share issue. He allowed Malcolm Murray & Cenkos to press ahead with the flotation, and stake their reputations on a lie, selling the bears down the river in a get rich quick scheme for Charles Green and his cronies - cronies who may still represent the majority of the RIFC board.

Well. Go ahead bears, line their pockets, before they disappear into the sunset. why not! Or you could maybe listen to the only lifelong rangers fan on the RIFC board instead?

I am not a Rangers fan. (I am not a Celtic fan either. )
But take it from me. , you guys have been had, big time. and you are your own worst enemy!

Time to get a grip bears!

19.) 12 May 2013
POB well said. don't let the half wits wear you down mate.

20.) 12 May 2013
@19/ I seem to remember pob backing green right up till he was exposed.
