Walter please leave our management team alone you gave us 3 years of McCoist then recently had the audacity to say he wasn't given enough time instead of slating him or at least apologising to the fans.

You are now a relic and confined to the past, a great past yes, but we do not want to go through more years of boring predictable grind it out football, I will be much happier winning the SPFL every second year but with entertaining exciting football for the first time since Advocaat.

Honestly Bears name me more than 4 seasons of the 9 in a row where you were not bored and the results were a foregone conclusion? The Aberdeen year Hateley 2-0, the Gazza year and the 2 great contests with Tommy Burns Celtic team were the only entertaining years.

Where you are entitled to your opinion, I can not agree. I am fairly sure Smith is not about to explain to Warburton how to manage the game of football!! And what style of football to play.

However to pass on his knowledge of ALL things Rangers, well that would be a blessing frankly. Anything that can help settle a new manager to the Rangers ways, expectations and pressures is only going to help settle that manager in.

To suggest that Walter should stay away is an insult and frankly completely unnecessary.

Any help you can give Walter would be welcome in my book.

KT, The best post I have seen on here for a long time. Was distraught when I heard King was going to ask Smith for advice on the new manager. Smith was the originator of the old pals act, basically securing McCoist the managers job, after years of baling him out at half time in cup games and working with him on a daily basis at Murray Park. He must have know he wasn't up for the job. If it was up to me he would be barred from Ibrox for that alone. Nothing to do with blowing 10 in a row or boring us to death for years. Haven't posted for a long time but had to get that off my chest.

It was good at the time though KT,was it not?You had better cherish those memories pal because you may not see anything like it again.I sat through Selik winning 9 in a row and the European Cup.I'm just thankful I got to see us equal it (9)in my lifetime, you should be thankful too no matter how boring it seems in hindsight.

I was alive just through tons and then Rangers 9 in a row

The major difference was Stein had them playing entertains football for the 9 years in a great competitive league where Rangers Hibs Dundee and Kilmarnock all progressed very far in the Euro Cups

Walters Rangers produced 1 great Euro year where with team work luck and a good team we might have won it That said the football was boring week in week out I went to all the home games but preferred the away games as better atmosphere Europe we were embarrassed on many many occasions and as I said 5 of the seasons were like Celtic now over before season began really

I loved the wins but NOT the manner we achieved them only when Advocaat came did I for the first time since the 60s Baxter era see Rangers play great exciting football

I would trade 4 losses of the next 9 years in the SPFL
If we can win 5 playing exciting football in a competitive league with Celtic Aberdeen and hearts all fighting till the END of the season

War burton has a vision of quick passing and exciting attacking football that for me is why I will be there enjoying watching Rangers instead of just turning up out of loyalty as I've always done. For years I've watching Rangers as they are my birth team but watched Barcelona and Juve for excitement and enjoyment

It would be great to have both of these things at the club I have loved all my life

Cuillin72,

Hi, sorry if I used too long a word for you to understand, distraught, should have put worried or upset, which is what it means lol. That word summed up perfectly how I was feeling after seeing our club in turmoil and on its knees for the last few years and starting to find it's feet again, only to see Smith being lined up for managerial advice.
Offs, it's more than a game to me.

Actually m8, distraught doesn't mean worried or upset, it means something much more serious, just thought I would say, as your response to another guy was arrogant in the extreme, and obviously wrong, IE, I was distraught when my brother died, not worried or upset ,

Tommy, that puts things into perspective. Some people just take a silly game so seriously.
