Personally, I'm pleased that McInnes isn't coming as he was never my choice. However, the Board seems to be in disarray. He was clearly the Board's first choice (goodness knows why) and however they try and dress it up he has declined the opportunity to join Rangers. They have already taken too long to choose our new manager. I think Murty will do well for the rest of this year but surely the Board must get a new manager in during the winter break! As one poster has already said, sometimes in life Destiny comes calling and you've got to grasp it with both hands. McInnes failed to do so and some years from now I think he'll regret it.

I'll bet he is already regretting it tbh. Obviously can not handle the pressure of being Rangers manager. Never mind, onwards and forwards

Doiger you are 100 per cent correct and most fans will agree. To consider paying £1 million for a guy, although rangers minded, who has achieved very little was madness. The fact he previously knocked back Sunderland should have set alarm bells ringing as he is clearly happy in his comfort zone at the sheep. We dodged a massive bullet as the job was too big for him although taking 6 weeks to this point is far too long. Clearly murty and a rangers minded experienced assistant is the answer to the end of the season then we re- assess. This buys time to look at more suitable candidates and assess murty/ assistant

I agree Steviec. Managers have to start somewhere. Look how long it took Fergie to win anything at Manchester United! Maybe Murty can go on to be one of our great managers. Goodness knows, we've had some muppets over the years (Davie White, McCoist, Le Guen, Caixhina) . Maybe if we win five out of six this month he should be given to the end of the season.

The board seem to be getting criticsm for their actions. The facts appear to be that they were given no formal opportunity to speak to DM and also showed respect in waiting to make contact until after the AGM and the Dons Double header. While this could be true it is unlikely and the appearance of a very strong Rangers Board position is only the case if we are successful on and of the park. Clearly we are not and therefore the board will be critisced. If we were riding high and the dominant team in Scotland we would be seen as showing strong management.

We and the board just have to take the criticsm on the chin and keep progressing - Follow Follow

I don't think he was the boards first choice, I think he was the medias choice. There has to be a reason it took 7 weeks, I personally think they've been speaking to some bigger names but have been knocked back, were probably seen as a bit of a poisoned chalice at the minute. Lower wage than a bang average EPL team, absolutely miles lower budget than a bottom end EPL team, but 100 times the expectation.

Think along the lines that we class the fee for Pena as huge. its peanuts in the football world, I bet Man city spend more than that on water bottles. This is the reason we went for Pedro and I can't understand how people can't see it, it was a gamble and I still feel it would have worked out long term. We cannot afford a huge household name at the moment.
