Sh## performance yesterday. From what I see is as clear as day that the 2 areas that we seriously need to improve is an attacking mid fielder that can score 15 plus goals and add a similar number of assits per season. Dare I say a windass sort of player. We also need to see a major improvement in our wingers as they are simply not good enough. Kent is a good player but doesn't score enough for me. None of our wingers score enough. The only 2 that I see that could get double figures is young Middleton and Murphy. Murph abv injuried and for me Middleton doesn't get enough game time.

For me Middleton needs to get a run in the team not this 20 min hear 20 mins there.
At the start of the season the boy was flying and full of confidence. But slowly imo that confidence has be taken out of him with miss management.
I don't go in for the Sh## from SG and his management team that we need to protect our young players from burn out ect. For me if they are on fire and good enough to be in the squad then they should start.
SG has done the exact same thing with Katic. On fire dropped lost confidence.
For me our loan signing should be accommodating our signing not the other way about.
So Kent and Worrall return to their clubs and we are left with 2 players low in confidence and that prob know that it doesn't matter how good they are playing that if players are loaned in, in their positions then they will prob lose their place again.

My second point is that at every level of our youth u17,u18 and reserves, they appear to be tearing it up. So many of the young boys are getting praise from top coaches from home and abroad. So surely we must have a couple of boys that could play the attacking mid slot.

As much as I loved Steven Davis and respect what defoe has done in the game. I seriously would have loved to see some of our young players like Hardie or Dallas, Docherty, Kelly given a chance. What chance have these boys got with what SG states a cameo appearances. We need to have more confidence in our youth and give them a chance.

For the past few years we have continually went down the road of buying old pros Barton, Senderos Davis, Defoe and many more it's just not working. Spending fortunes in salaries and getting nothing in return. We need young and hungry players preferably from within our own club.

As much as I hate to say it but you only need to look across the city to that other mob. Who's best three players McGregor KT and Forrest all from their youth set ups that where given the chance. Prob will earn that mob 30million if they sold the three.

Good post agree with everything that is said especially the youth players more should be getting chances they can be no worse than the squad players we have that are wasting a wage.
Come the summer rather than loan players sign first team quality players then back them up with our own young players.

Stewartyblue thanks for a well thought out and thoughtful post. I have been saying this for ages, but unfortunately we never seem to learn. There is no point in bringing up young talented players who then don't get a chance in the first team, and sell them for a pittance to someone else. I WISH TO GOD WE WOULD WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE.

Two weeks ago Davis was returning prodigal son and now he's ****. On the point of **** sitting here at Rugby Park and Killie showing Tic like wee boys. We can and should be able to play like that on consistent basis. I agree with use of youth because St Johnstone should be perfect starting point for our boys. They'll probably try harder than that lot yesterday.
