Personally I think he came here to get in the shop window, and had the clause inserted (if true) so he could head back south once he became relevant again.
Only a deep run in Europe will keep him here.

In my opinion, Butland is a class act and a leader at the same time. If bids do come in (buy out clause tbc) I think they should pull out all the stops to keep him. He could easily be our No.1 for the next 5 years+.

He should be offered a new improved contract now.
5 year deal, £40k a week.
He’s already in £35k, so that’s what it would take to get him to sign.
In return there is no clause in his deal whatsoever.

If Onana is worth £50m to epl teams, which he clearly isn’t, then Butland is worth £20m easy.

I love Butland but If any player insists on these clauses i wouldn't sign them we are in no position for star players leaving for relative buttons. Celtic are knocking back bids of 10m for players.

The thing is hammer, I’m not saying Butland is definitely worth the £20m mate, but the prices getting paid for shi* keepers in England, and also for decent keepers, and good keepers, if u use all that as a guide, then is it really outrageous to put £20m price tag on Butland with his undoubted talents. He really is a top class keeper. I think he has it all I can’t pick a fault so far. He’s showing why he was so highly valued as a youngster.
Looks better than Pickford aswell. Someone I’ve never truly rated.
Not ramsdale who I thinks tremendous, but definitely better than Pickford.
