Taking everything into account, i would give all 3 of our experienced senior players allan mcgregor, steven davis and jermain defoe new 1 year contracts 👍. I think all 3 have something to offer still and although i would say mcgregor and davo will play a lot more first team games than defoe, i would still offer defoe a new 1 year deal with reduced terms and a possible coaching job thrown in🤔Wee defoe is still a great pro to have around the place and a father figure as has already been said, to a lot of our younger players 👌Not to mention he'd still be great to have on the bench when needed to be called upon 👌He's still so very fit 👍ED, could you please run a poll regarding jermain defoe, if you don't mind mate 🤔 My poll being, do my fellow rangers supporters think defoe should be given a new 1 year deal on reduced terms, with a possible coaching job within the new deal 🤔 Cheers ED, would be much obliged pal 👍🇬🇧.

I wouldn’t give Defoe a playing contract but would try and get him on board as a coach but not playing.

I think Defoe is working towards SG long term replacement. He’s got the right mentality and the contacts etc to continue the great work already complete. We definitely need to keep him within the club.

Don’t expect Defoe to be at ibrox next season as a player, and don’t believe he will want to stay on a significantly reduced package as a coach.

Ehat has defoe done this season to deserve a new contract? he's on about 25 grand a week n hardly played all season, we can't run the club on sentimental thoughts. New contract for defoe in no way would represent value for money, much as I admire him.

Interesting point Sir Katic, maybe he could be someone to take over in a couple of years. He would obviously need to do a lot of coaching work between now and then. Maybe start with taking on an assistant role next year.

He would need to go down to £10k a week for me and be kept on as 3rd/ 4th choice striker. I think if we win league he may go over to America for a last hurrah in his career. Being honest we won’t really miss him. Alfie, roofe, itten, apparently Alegria. Not a lot of game time there for Defoe.
