Was initially quite ready to blame Barton and his big mouth solely for this debacle but having read the new report in the DR from a supposed "source" I'm somewhat feeling that he may not be the only one to blame.

The source suggests that the other players were saying how we were doing just fine before he came to which joey replied by stating it was in a worse league. He was bang on (oh, and we'd not been doing too well after the Celtic cup match when we limped to the league title) .

Barton was also supposed to have been pointing out home truths for the shocking performance levels recently. And, as long as he can take it as well as he can give it (not sure on this) then that's exactly what an experienced player should be doing.

Thirdly, apparently some other players had the cheek to say that we'd done just fine against Celtic without him last season. True, but how can they fail to acknowledge the change in Celtic? This worries me particularly. To me this suggests that these players have had a lot of smoke blown up them and have rested on their laurels which for me is as unacceptable as the performance on Saturday. We played well in April, granted it was brilliant day, but that has gone, it's in the past, and for professionals to be falling back on that as an excuse is unbelievable.

I'm not siding with Joey as he clearly has his own problems but if he has reacted angrily to players acting like that then I can't say I would have acted wholly differently. If he has disrespected the manager then that has crossed every line but against peer players he has every right to vent frustration in a constructive way.
Interested in your thoughts.

I suspect any constructive criticism from Joey would have been better received if he'd played a few decent games. He's part of the problem just now and needs to focus on his game and not his opinions of others.

Statement released on twitter by barton, he's honest enough to come out and tell it like it is, but what happens in the dressing room should stay in the dressing room, how many gers teams in the past from gough, mccoist, big amo, Barry etc had bust ups and we never knew about it until a book was released? I like the fact eveyone was upset shows they care, I would take the daily record article with a pinch of salt, if he's over stepped his place then he deserves getting suspended from the team, hopefully now we will see a gers team with fire in there bellys.

If the scenario was Joey havin a go at the players, and basically sayin that they where not playing to their potential AND including himself in his rant then yeah totally acceptable! BUT I've got a feelin that Joey may have put it on the others and if Warbs was there I'm sure he wouldve pointed out that he too needs to raise his game that's when I could maybe see Barton crossing the line and banging heads with Warbs and Weir. Can't see Warbs telling a player to F-off for getting angry and letting the team know how they feel about recent performances! Now I'm not sayin Barton deserves a starting place at the moment but I always thought this guy would come good the guy is a top player who had the chance of premiership football this season, the guy is on a good wage prob the highest at Ibrox and we do not want him sitting at home because he spat the dummy out. I hope he gets it together and sorts it out wi Warbs No player can start undermining the Manager and again that can be the only reason he'd be asked to leave the Training base poss had a go at Weir? and Warbs again would have to act! What's your thoughts Bears d'ya agree that this has Barton mouthing off at Warbs and/ or Weir and u think this will be resolved quickly?

Andy makes sense, but you know it's a rumours site ed001 right? Would make sense that we use common sense and reasoning like Andy since we have little to not information yet. He who is without sin should cast the first stone. At least until we know exactly what is going on. We got the information days late when people realised he don't show for training which tells me there's a good chance no one knows the specifics outside of Rangers especially considering how they conduct themselves these days. Who asked about it at Thursday's presser?

{Ed001's Note - but that is not what you were saying. I think you are so busy trying to be a superfan that you are forgetting where you are. If you don't want speculation, don't come online or talk to anyone. Otherwise give your opinion, fine, but don't tell others what to do if they want to give theirs or pass on what they have heard, correct or not. It is not for you to decide what gets said by who and the first stone is always cast by Barton, so that saying is a load of crap. If you don't want speculation online, don't have your players stirring it up on social media to try and increase their profile ready for when they retire.}

Was Joey simply saying what some of the posters on here have been saying for months?

"Performances have not been good enough for months - (not just from start of season) and we need a PLAN B"

If so was he not correct to challenge Warburton directly when asked what was wrong?

I was reminded of Iain Ferguson dressing down stars in DR after a previous 5-1 defeat - he wasn't sent home!

Its disappointing the criticism of Warbs in all this. Barton has obviously stepped out of line. Warbs has suspended him for one game. end of story. now let's move on. You people who say that "hes a bad manager, jobs too big for him etc" are idiots. We're trying to bed in 9 or 10 new players in a league which is a whole new level from last season. And he's trying to compete from the bargain basement. If you are going to have a pop at anyone, have a pop at King, who is spending f*** all after all his bluster. The fans have backed the club to the hilt buying season tickets. Time for King to fulfill his promises. or move on.

hey China- I agree with your statement about Warbs and the rubbish being spewed about him not being big enough for the job. Total nonsense! But blaming King is ridiculous. When is everyone going to realise it is the players on the pitch that aren't scoring? aren't giving enough cutting edge? The quality is obviously there in some (Windass being the best example) But they are seriously lacking in the fire department right now. We can blame defense all we want. But when 70% of the game is being played in the middle of the park or your opponents 1/ 3 then it isn't defense who are having a problem.

teddyofthesouth how can you say the firepower is not there. Last season when Waghorn was scoring 2 and 3 every game against plumber and brickies everyone was spouting that Waghorn was worth 5 million, then yous add Garnder for 1.5 million who should be in the England squad now he is with The Rangers .
