Not so much a rumour as a prediction here. We cannot afford a manager that we would consider to be of Rangers stature. After the New Year, the board will announce that since no candidate stood out for them, Mark Allen will take a more active role in assisting the new head coach, Graeme Murty, who will be given a one year rolling contract. Alex Rae and Barry Ferguson will join the backroom team as Rangers go forward into a new era where we will encourage the old Liverpool 'boot room' ethos and promote players and coaches from within for the forseeable future. In the meantime, we will look for a few experienced players on frees or for small fees and go all out to sign the best young Scottish talent and others the scouting system might identify.

No danger dutycalls! Our board are dithering regarding appointing a new manager, but i don't believe they're that stupid, by alienating the fans by doing what you're saying! The fans would never buy it! Our board more than ever, need to make a statement of intent, to all our shareholders and supporters! We need a manager of experience and ilk! Do us all a favour and go and do whatever it takes to appoint tony pulis, as the new glasgow rangers manager! Give us long suffering bears, a nice surprise for christmas,
tony pulis as our new manager!

There’s no doubt people like Ferguson and Rae know what Rangers are about but they’ve done nothing of note as coaches which would suggest they can’t coach so o don’t see how going back to jobs for the boys will help us out.

To do whatever it takes they will have to either lose the director of football or tell him that he can’t have any say what so ever in first team matters and that includes which players we sign regardless even if he feels that in 18 months time there will be a guy in the academy just as good as a potential new signing. This is the main problem that is going to prevent a new manager coming in.

I agree with most of what you guys are saying, especially coop, but I've got a horrible feeling this is the way they will try to sell it to the fans. I used Ferguson and Rae as examples, not as choices, but observing and listening carefully leads me to think this is not the fantasy I hope it turns out to be.

I think you could be right but actually it's not that weird a scenario it's just how it's been dragged out.

I just can't see why a top level UK manager would take it when they get 5 or 10 times as much down there. Brendan Rodgers is still ridiculed down south so it won't help anyone's reputation either. Only options are a Rangers person (Murty, ex managers/ players) or a lower level manager.

This rumour suddenly doesn't seem far fetched.
