A great few days for us and now the talk is about what loans we'd like to make permanent. Looking at the Liverpool lads, I think Ejaria and Kent have given themselves and everyone else a dilemma. It will take more improvement over a few years before they would get close to starting for Liverpool, so either they go elsewhere and chase the big wages, or we try to keep them on loan for another season, because we cannot afford to buy them.

Both have long contracts at Anfield. Our best bargaining position is that we can offer them European football, which they won't get in the lower reaches of the EPL, and fanatical crowds of 50,000 which they'd only get at Anfield. I would happily settle for these two boys for two years. Maybe then we'd be in a position to get them on a more permanent basis, but if not it will have been a productive two years for all concerned. Obviously, we'd take Coulbaly at the right price. Thoughts?

1.) 08 Oct 2018 02:50:31
Coulbaly all day
Kent could be a player
Buy both.

2.) 08 Oct 2018 07:48:40
Would take Kent and Coulibaly all day long. Ejaria I’m still not convinced. Can look brilliant at times but turns into trouble far too much for my liking.

3.) 08 Oct 2018 08:25:48
Has Kent not said he'd be open to a permanent move?

4.) 08 Oct 2018 13:18:59
I can't believe comments from people saying they are no convinced by Ejaria. For me the boy is going to be a star and of all the loan signing's he is probably the least likely to sign permanently, mainly because Liverpool truly recognise his potential.

5.) 08 Oct 2018 15:24:58
I would definitely take Kent, Coulibaly and Ejaria. Not convinced about Worrall however, given the rumoured asking price!

6.) 08 Oct 2018 15:24:10
I would love Kent to sign permanently.

7.) 08 Oct 2018 17:44:27
Struth18, he did say that, obviously he's hardly going to say he doesn't fancy it here. However, Klopp has previously stated his price is £7million, which is about double what I think our estimate would be.

8.) 08 Oct 2018 18:07:58
I believe Kent could happen if he really wanted to come permanently. We wouldn't be able to pay Liverpool's asking price but Gerrard might be able to sweet talk them into a lesser fee with them keeping a larger percentage of a sell on fee.

9.) 08 Oct 2018 20:54:13
That's a possibility, MikeGer, especially if the lad asserts that this is what he wants.

03 Oct 2018 02:15:55
In the rumour that won't go away stakes, the Steven Davis one is right up there. I've heard yet again that he and manager Mark Hughes have been arguing and the wee man wants away in January. He's hardly featured for Southampton and is very frustrated. He has told friends and other players he will be a Rangers player again and this is what he is aiming for, and it seems Hughes won't stand in his way. This is from a journalist.

1.) 03 Oct 2018 06:13:39
Hope your right would take him back in a heart beat.

2.) 03 Oct 2018 13:43:59
Could be the final piece of the midfield jigsaw.

3.) 03 Oct 2018 13:56:12
If he’s that ‘desperate’ to play for us again, offer him a 6 month deal at Xmas time on a grand a week and we’ll see where his loyalties lie👍.

4.) 03 Oct 2018 16:44:29
That total disrespect to a great player.

5.) 03 Oct 2018 17:07:07
Rubbish. This comes up all the time on here. Who next Alan Hutton? Peter Lovenkrands? Maybe Rino Gattuso will come back, or that Slovenian guy we had on loan that time? LOL.

6.) 04 Oct 2018 08:35:23
steven davis at his age now miles better than any midfielder we have at the moment maybe coulibally aside would take the wee man back in a heartbeat.

19 Sep 2018 19:01:00
Has anyone been at Auchenhowie lately? A journalist friend tells me we've been doing drills using a 3 at the back formation for the past couple of days. Just wondering.

1.) 19 Sep 2018 19:18:14
The boy on loan from Notts Forrest, Worrell could play on a back 3 tomorrow night with Tav and Barisic as wing backstreet.

2.) 19 Sep 2018 20:17:35

It’s a bit of an ask to put Worrall straight into a game having played no minutes for us. Likely to be very close to Sunday’s team with Morelos dropping out for Lafferty.

3.) 19 Sep 2018 21:40:28
Bindi, agree likely that Worrall will feature on Saturday against st Johnstone but that would not be part of a back 3. If performing back 3 drills on training think likely SG believes will be shape for at least part of tomorrow’s tie.

4.) 19 Sep 2018 22:20:56
No chance will joe worrall play against st. johnstone on saturday,
bankie! Absolutely no chance mate!

5.) 19 Sep 2018 22:49:18
Supercoop, I said he will feature and will be in the match squad on Saturday. Whether he gets game time depends on if Goldstone and Katic need recovery time and if McAuley is fit. I predict between tomorrow night and Saturday we will see some game time from Worrall. Let’s see.

6.) 19 Sep 2018 23:36:32
Bankie. you’ve missed the point regarding supercooper’s “no chance of playing Saturday” 😂 we play on Sunday.!

7.) 20 Sep 2018 00:03:13
The st Johnstone game is on sunday Bankie 😂🤣.

8.) 20 Sep 2018 05:11:04
I can categorically tell u right now bankie there is not a chance of Joe worall playing so much as a minute v St Johnstone on Sat.

9.) 20 Sep 2018 07:03:28
Fair cop lads, too focused on tonight’s match!

10.) 20 Sep 2018 08:10:37
Exactly lee mcf and dunoonbluebear that's exactly what my tongue in cheek comment meant, bankie! Just a wee joke pal!

11.) 20 Sep 2018 11:56:19
Can guarantee goldstone won't play either, goldson maybe buy goldstone no way.

12.) 20 Sep 2018 16:07:21
I said on here, before our first match, SG prefers a 352 system. I don't think we will play that tonight but perhaps Sunday.

13.) 20 Sep 2018 17:18:06
Few poeple wrong about worral no playing.

14.) 20 Sep 2018 17:46:33
Supercool, you were correct Worrall not playing on saturday playing tonight.

04 Sep 2018 23:41:37
Europa League squad includes Dorrans but not Rossiter or Wallace. Biggest hint yet that the lad Rossiter is finished and Wallace is finished with Rangers.

1.) 05 Sep 2018 07:56:01
You are only allowed to name 22 A list players and as many B list players as u want.
Explains why no Wallace or Dorrans for me, as which aA list player would you leave out.

2.) 05 Sep 2018 07:56:20
Sorry meant Rossiter.

3.) 05 Sep 2018 10:43:46
What age is Rossiter? Would he not qualify to play as he’s under 21?

4.) 05 Sep 2018 11:06:30
Mprent i'm not sure Rossiter would be able to get to the airport without getting injured.

5.) 05 Sep 2018 11:46:04
Wallace ain't done yet at gers over past yr rossiter n wallace have has injurys here an there so dtevie prob left tgem out case they injured again then squad not short.

6.) 05 Sep 2018 11:47:47
Mprent would have had to come through our academy. This is why Middleton is an a list player.

7.) 05 Sep 2018 11:54:53
He can be added to the b list as he is 21 and has been on our books for two years.

8.) 05 Sep 2018 12:11:09
Why would you include an out for the season Dorrans?

9.) 05 Sep 2018 12:54:17
Dorrans approaching full fitness, that’s why included in registered European squad.

10.) 05 Sep 2018 13:14:04
Dorrans back in training.

11.) 05 Sep 2018 13:42:15
Jboy, you are allowed an A squad of 25, that's exactly why I believe the two of them are finished at the club for one reason or another. Either that or neither is expected to be fit for the rest of this year?

12.) 05 Sep 2018 16:59:09
Cool. UEFA web site says 22.

13.) 05 Sep 2018 17:40:30
Duty calls u r correct re 25, but on re reading it eight spaces must be kept for locally trained players, if u can't achieve this u can't register the full 25.

14.) 05 Sep 2018 17:47:50
Duty calls very good articl done by follow follow re what rangers are allowed. definitely is 22 mate.

15.) 06 Sep 2018 00:12:13
jboy21 Here's the Uefa rule - 42.02 No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season.
You are correct about eight 'association trained' players, and Wallace fits into that category. Since we registered only 23 players in the A squad there was room for him. We chose not to name him.

16.) 06 Sep 2018 09:08:40

17.) 06 Sep 2018 09:12:50
Sorry duty calls wrong you can name eight local trained players.
Four must be associating trained, i. e. Dorrans, Arfield Halliday and jack
Four must be club trained, we only have one, mcgregor so lose three places, can only name one
I suppose people say why Dorrans, that's the manager decision
Interesting this will be same next season as we have a lack of club trained players who don't falll into b list players.

18.) 06 Sep 2018 14:47:01
You're right, Jboy, I misread the ruling on local trained players and indeed four places must go to club-trained players. Maybe next year that will be McGregor and McCrorie only?

19.) 06 Sep 2018 17:09:52
Probably although Mccrorie has two years.
Hence why we need to develop our own going forward. Albeit only four.

22 Aug 2018 00:58:10
A discussion has taken place, I'm told, about Antonio Mance, a Croatian striker who plays for Trencin, the Slovakian league champions. They hammered Feyenoord in the Europa League and he scored a hat-trick, so I don't suppose we'd have the only football department discussing him.

1.) 22 Aug 2018 07:25:48
Could be useful if true, good rumour regardless, i definitely think we need another striker as well as Lafferty if this deal is to be finally done and obviously a CH is badly needed as back up to our main 2.

2.) 22 Aug 2018 08:41:31
How many players are we allowed to register for group stage that have already played in Europa league.

3.) 22 Aug 2018 09:11:37
No limit.

4.) 22 Aug 2018 09:59:54
ok that's good then. we need at least another centre half pronto before katic or goldson get suspended or injured. could look to croatia or somewhere like that again, seems to be plenty of untapped talent out there.

5.) 22 Aug 2018 10:53:23
trencin aren’t the champions! Do a bit of research pal.

6.) 22 Aug 2018 10:57:17
Looking at your past posts as well duty calls and I think you need your head checked 😂 how anyone can take you seriously I don’t know!

I keep reading on here that young Middleton should be thrown into the team and left there and nonsense like kids don't suffer from burnout, and if they're good enough they're old enough. This is usually accompanied by examples like Messi and Derek Johnstone among others. In Messi's first two seasons in the first team squad aged 18 and 19, he played just 25 games (just 7 in his first season) . DJ, a big strong boy, played 17 times in his first season. I could go on. The point is, of Middleton makes a dozen starts out of 50 or so this season, we should be delighted as that would be a major sign that he was getting there. And youngsters do suffer burnout. I've seen it so many times, even boys who were burnt out by 18 with all the demands on them. Leave the lad alone and let the coaches get the best from him and gradually introduce him to the top level. We've got a player here, I'm positive of that.

1.) 05 Aug 2018 10:12:44
Guid post man 👍.

2.) 05 Aug 2018 11:41:24
I agree, a problem we've had at Rangers for a long while is burning out our good young players.

We see a good young player, throw him into the team as a first team regular and he'll either sink or swim, it's far better to introduce them gradually and build them up than just throwing them in and hoping for the best.

Poster child for this is John Fleck but there's plenty of others who were given a regular first team spot instead of integrated to the first team gradually.

3.) 05 Aug 2018 11:46:36
Totally agree. We need a squad and competition so we can put the young lads in if they're performing but take them out of the limelight when they're struggling, without it affecting the dynamics of the team.

20 Jul 2018 19:38:04
Some of you will know that I'm a regular visitor to Liverpool through work and I have one or two close friends and good contacts there. I'm told this boy Kent is a top talent and he's been given a 5-year contract by Klopp. If their assessments are correct, we may have just taken another wee step forward. Keep up the good work, Stevie.

1.) 20 Jul 2018 21:14:30
Dutycalls surely you should be setting your standards higher than a Liverpool reserve who can’t get a game for Bristol City?

2.) 20 Jul 2018 23:25:29
Under what budget Baz the bear? Bristol City can probably offer more wages and transfer fees that we can offer, some clubs just work for some players and i’ll Judge the boy myself on performances for us, over to the lad!

3.) 21 Jul 2018 00:43:57
Baz maybe you should realise Scottish football is in the gutter and unless we are paying stupid wages then top talent ain’t coming here.

You’ve not even seen the boy play for us yet and you’re alresdy greeting. Maybe you should lower your expectations rather than having a go at the OP for being optimistic (god forbid) .

4.) 21 Jul 2018 01:03:48
As I said, Baz, the guy has been given a 5 year contract by Klopp so obviously the coaching staff at Liverpool believe he has a big future. That will do for me, along with Gerrard's judgement and not some toerag manager of some tit team.

5.) 21 Jul 2018 09:03:29
Just highlighting dutycalls has double standards.

He slagged off Lafferty and Moult, both proven goalscorers up here and said we should be raising our standards.

Seems to contradict himself about standards so just pointing that out.

I think the lad Kent will be a great addition. In my original post I also said if we had 3 million to spend we should push the boat out for a centre forward.

15 Jul 2018 18:25:30
Good to see our Under 19s have won the FC Viktoria tournament in the Czech Republic. Our youngsters are certainly being properly groomed these days.

1.) 15 Jul 2018 19:06:44
I’m on holiday and was watching it with a mixed crowd, even the Croatian fans were agreeing? The OP has meme lost for words, I though he was at the wind up?

2.) 15 Jul 2018 20:13:27
Astounding. Some of our fans disagree that our under 19s are doing well and have won a prestigious tournament! Or maybe there's an infestation of idiots?

3.) 15 Jul 2018 20:34:03
Is that muppet Murty involved with the under 19?

4.) 16 Jul 2018 08:15:55
"Muppet Murty" you really don't have a clue, -this is a guy who's very good at his job I. e. discovering young footballers with potential and developing that potential-look at recent youth team results and how do you think we got Middleton? . He also seems a decent and honourable man.

5.) 16 Jul 2018 10:45:39
Yately show some respect. He is one of us

6.) 16 Jul 2018 15:31:10
Agree jboy good at his job with dev elopement teams. Never a first team manager but he should never have been thrown in at deep end to begin with?

31 May 2018 14:46:55
I was speaking to a former associate who works in the media in Liverpool and he says that Gerrard's stated playing philosophy was what he described as the TIE method: Technique, Intensity, Energy. That's what he was teaching Liverpool youths and that's what he'll bring to us. My friend also said Gerrard has that presence about him that makes people want to do as he asks, that he is a motivator, and doesn't suffer fools at all. Can't wait!

1.) 31 May 2018 15:37:54
His style will mirror that the current Liverpool philosophy. I just hope the board keep there promise to fund the players that will be good enough to play to this style and tempo.

2.) 31 May 2018 18:39:46
dutycalls/ scotty113 reading your posts regarding energy and tempo, training on Gullane sands comes to mind, i. e. Jock Wallace training.

3.) 31 May 2018 19:58:25
TIE method: Technique, Intensity, Energy. Absoulutly lovin this Stevie has brought some buzz to our club . he cannot fail. it will not happen that he fails

08 Dec 2017 09:40:54
The club's statement is quite clear. Rangers asked Aberdeen permission to speak to McInnes to assess his willingness to consider the job. The answer in a statement from Aberdeen was that at this stage in his career, it would be best for him to remain in his current post. We asked, they put it to him, he soiled his pants with fright and said no. Rangers manager? Never in a million years.

I still think, as I posted previously, that he will have the front three constantly switching and moving in and around the channels, snapping at the feet of those pretty clumsy defenders and creating space and opportunities for each other, as well as midfielders joining in with deeper runs. Whoever is named as the 'central' player certainly won't stay there long, and we'll run the legs off them.

Gerrard is playing what he sees, a winning team is developing from that and it's got nothing to do with loan deals, a possible three at the back in future or anything other than the manager's plan. As for Worrall being shaky in every game, you must be either joking or Stevie Wonder.
