I'm told that at a meeting at Ibrox this evening, Murty and Mark Allen discussed a possible purge of at least six players to free up wages, so look for some big earners getting shipped out. And there have been no calls from Mexico! Currently there are funds to finance the purchase of two targets without selling anyone.

1.) 31 Dec 2017 10:49:32
First thing that should be done is phone up Alves agent and tell him to get him a new team (never rangers class)
Cardoso should be sold if buyer wants him.
Lee Hodson should be released
I won’t go through them all but on watching the Motherwell game we don’t have good width plus our defence needs strengthened and a hard msn to get right into broody I hate his smug face!

2.) 31 Dec 2017 11:40:38
yea am sure DK called you to tell you all this don't suppose you had dinner wea him as well na doubt it we don't have any money to buy new players nobody will buy the crap we have we played against a celtic team that didn't turn up in 2nd half can't believe fellow bears are happy to finish 2nd there pulling in nearly 8million on van Dyke still getting money in europe and prob sell dembele for 20million 11pts behind its only going get worse unless we get money DK been there nearly 3 years and not any further forward that's the realty not a point yesterday

3.) 31 Dec 2017 14:16:34
Wow! We see some fairly negative stuff on here regularly but given what day it is, that one takes the cake for me. No matter how much they make on Virgil, Dembele etc. They cannot convince the top players to come to the backwater of Scottish football. Hope your in a better mood come the bells! Happy New Year Bhoys and Bears!

Keep Believing!

4.) 31 Dec 2017 19:36:07
Couldn't care less what Celtic are getting for dyke or dembele. Rangers outplayed Celtic in the second half, end of. Plenty thought we'd get humped, we didn't. 2-3 quality players plus our injured players back. There's a decent side there. Happy new year

5.) 31 Dec 2017 22:34:44
Happy New Year bhoys? Na not for me.

6.) 31 Dec 2017 23:50:50
Ffs, if you canny take positives from that then you're not a gers fan

7.) 01 Jan 2018 11:58:03
Cheer up big blue bear. To be fair dave king did say a 5 year process or something like that. Fellow bears happy to finish second this year because they are being realistic not in fantasy land. Right now we need to strengthen and gel to start next season strong. don't worry about celtic’s business just focus on ours.

8.) 01 Jan 2018 12:00:56
Shocking statements on here about Alves and suggestions he bottled it. Although he may have underestimated intensity of Scottish game, he clearly loves the responsibility and at his age is picking up injures. Don’t think he will be with us Long but let’s treat him with respect.

9.) 01 Jan 2018 12:10:33
big blue bear, I'm sorry you are such a hateful, angry person, but who mentioned DK? Who mentioned dinner? Who mentioned Celtic? Are you sure you're commenting on the right thread? Never mind, calm down and have as good a new year as someone in your condition can have.

28 Dec 2017 12:43:53
Rangers, Norwich and agents in talks over Naismith and Russell Martin moving to Ibrox in January.

1.) 28 Dec 2017 14:09:48
Just who's place do you reckon russell martin is going to take mate?

2.) 28 Dec 2017 14:20:27
I'd take them both

3.) 28 Dec 2017 14:41:25
russel martin is a defensive right back who can play ch so it would be tavs. it would allow tab to move forward but it's looking like tavanier is leaving.

4.) 28 Dec 2017 15:13:10
Russel Martin is not a right back neither is he going to bomb up and down the wing crossing and scoring goals but if he was to come he can have Wilsons place.

5.) 28 Dec 2017 15:23:53
Russell Martin 75 percent of games at Norwich have been right back. I remember being at Carrow rd and they were all signing a song about him being the white cafu. similar to ours about hutton. he is a defensive right back totally agree he won't be attacking. Norwich captain so don't know if they would let him go anyway

6.) 28 Dec 2017 15:26:15
Supercooper, I've no idea mate, I'm just passing on information. It's up to others to decide how we utilise players, I don't speculate on that.

7.) 29 Dec 2017 09:32:41
Martin is a better centre half than both Cardoso and Bates and IF rumours are true about Cardoso going back to Portugal then he would replace him

8.) 29 Dec 2017 23:45:30
Martin coming in as possible replacement for Alves who is wanting out in Jan.

9.) 30 Dec 2017 00:13:33
There you go again deanobear, surely your no that daft. Take wilson's place. Aye good one.

26 Dec 2017 15:04:32
Not a rumour as such, but a relative tells me about a conversation he had with his mate Les Reed, a director of Southampton. Reed said he had spoken to Steven Davis on many occasions and that although the guy loved it at St Mary's his heart would always belong to Rangers. But since he is contracted there until he is 34, we'd need to buy him back if we wanted him and even if his club was 'generous' (his word) it would still cost Rangers upwards of £3m if agent fees and signing on fees are taken into consideration.

1.) 26 Dec 2017 22:41:56
well we won't be getting him then

22 Dec 2017 13:41:57
First part of my prediction came true, and next we will appoint a couple of Rangers men as coaches. This is the way it will be for the near (3-4 years) future.

1.) 22 Dec 2017 14:25:05
First and foremost, i'd just like to take this opportunity in wishing our new 17th permanent glasgow rangers manager, graeme murty all the very best of luck, in his new wonderful unique position! I would like to think ALL bears would be right behind murts, by giving this very good humble coach, our total backing! I'm certainly right behind graeme murty, the new glasgow rangers manager! Sounds good saying that and i know murts is very honoured and proud to hold such a wonderful position as the manager of the greatest football club, in the world, bar none! This could end up being a tremendous appointment so let's give murty every chance of making sure it is! I would like to see either alex rae or butch wilkins coming into murty's backroom team, to work alongside him!

2.) 22 Dec 2017 15:22:34
Bad news, cheap option and not who most fans wanted

3.) 22 Dec 2017 16:23:25
Gregory Vignal arrives in January as a coach

4.) 22 Dec 2017 17:03:06
Has the board decided to stick with Murty at present and let’s see what revenue we bring in following the passing of resolution 11 before deciding what manager to go for but let’s get behind Murty and let’s see if we can secure at least second

5.) 22 Dec 2017 17:59:26
Gregory Vignal another LOCAL assistant then 😊

6.) 22 Dec 2017 18:25:28
Agree with supercooper on getting behind Murty! Not sure I'm in agreement regards Alex rae right enough. Would like to see Ray Wilkins or big butcher

7.) 22 Dec 2017 19:49:56
wish murty all the best he’s conducted himself with nothing but class so far but our board should hang their heads in utter shame if this is the best they can come up with were not daft this move screams out that once again as a club were skint woeful managerial appointments along with piss poor signings are too blame for this it all lands at the board they may have saved us from the easedale nonsense but this board is equally damaging our club in different ways no offence to murty but i’ll be surprised if we finish top 3 now because its clear january deals aren't going to be of any quality

8.) 22 Dec 2017 20:14:49
The board without doubt haven't told us the truth or covered themselves in glory! NO transparency whatsoever! But i still predict that graeme murty will finish us 2nd in the league this season! Murts is a good competent coach who has tactical nous!

9.) 22 Dec 2017 21:19:11
I like Murty and he has potential I think. It’s a pity he lost those 3 avoidable games. His appointment isn’t what annoys me it’s what his appointment hints at. It would appear there never has been a plan B to getting McInnes and that we never had a realistic chance of getting a Pulis, De Boer, Pardew etc not that many bears believed we did.

10.) 22 Dec 2017 23:53:12
I have watched his interview another couple o times he speaks a lot of sense let’s give him an opportunity to show what he can do let’s see who he signs and if he develops as a gaffer and remember every great manager started somewhere remember Souness was our player manager with no managerial experience and he is now a hero so feck it let’s enjoy crimbo and do the Murty

11.) 23 Dec 2017 02:06:44
Murty isn't the man to take us forward but there is no one that stands out currently. good luck to him! he speaks well and looks to have the backing of the players so who knows what he can achieve. hopefully he does well. he will go on to become a decent manager no matter what his record is at rangers

12.) 23 Dec 2017 11:34:06
I'm going to be controversial here and say that I actually now think that this just might be the right call at this time. No doubt it is the cheap option but look at the positives, 1. The players like and respect him. There doesn't look to be any cliques. 2. He knows the club and the players inside out and what it means to be at Rangers. 3. He is a bright and articulate man and handles the media perfectly. 4. He is able to change formations and set us up differently depending on the opponent. 5. He took a piss poor squad to their place and came away with a deserved point and might have taken all 3 in the end. 6. He knows the under 20 set up and which players will be able to make the full squad. The problem seems to be setting up the team when we are expected to win ie Dundee Hamilton, St Johnstone, Inverness. If he can get that right and with 2 or 3 good additions in January, we just might kick on. I believe he has an eye for a player. Getting Declan John signed up was a good start imo. We just need to get behind the team and see where it takes us.

21 Dec 2017 20:48:23
Not so much a rumour as a prediction here. We cannot afford a manager that we would consider to be of Rangers stature. After the New Year, the board will announce that since no candidate stood out for them, Mark Allen will take a more active role in assisting the new head coach, Graeme Murty, who will be given a one year rolling contract. Alex Rae and Barry Ferguson will join the backroom team as Rangers go forward into a new era where we will encourage the old Liverpool 'boot room' ethos and promote players and coaches from within for the forseeable future. In the meantime, we will look for a few experienced players on frees or for small fees and go all out to sign the best young Scottish talent and others the scouting system might identify.

1.) 21 Dec 2017 21:01:07
So a former man City youth coach and our under 20 coach will be our new management team assist by Barry ex clyde and Alex ex St mirren
Europe will be be trembling with fear.

2.) 21 Dec 2017 21:34:25
No danger dutycalls! Our board are dithering regarding appointing a new manager, but i don't believe they're that stupid, by alienating the fans by doing what you're saying! The fans would never buy it! Our board more than ever, need to make a statement of intent, to all our shareholders and supporters! We need a manager of experience and ilk! Do us all a favour and go and do whatever it takes to appoint tony pulis, as the new glasgow rangers manager! Give us long suffering bears, a nice surprise for christmas,
tony pulis as our new manager!

3.) 21 Dec 2017 21:41:08
There’s no doubt people like Ferguson and Rae know what Rangers are about but they’ve done nothing of note as coaches which would suggest they can’t coach so o don’t see how going back to jobs for the boys will help us out.

4.) 21 Dec 2017 21:46:14
To do whatever it takes they will have to either lose the director of football or tell him that he can’t have any say what so ever in first team matters and that includes which players we sign regardless even if he feels that in 18 months time there will be a guy in the academy just as good as a potential new signing. This is the main problem that is going to prevent a new manager coming in.

5.) 21 Dec 2017 22:27:34
I agree with most of what you guys are saying, especially coop, but I've got a horrible feeling this is the way they will try to sell it to the fans. I used Ferguson and Rae as examples, not as choices, but observing and listening carefully leads me to think this is not the fantasy I hope it turns out to be.

6.) 21 Dec 2017 23:04:17
I think you could be right but actually it's not that weird a scenario it's just how it's been dragged out.

I just can't see why a top level UK manager would take it when they get 5 or 10 times as much down there. Brendan Rodgers is still ridiculed down south so it won't help anyone's reputation either. Only options are a Rangers person (Murty, ex managers/ players) or a lower level manager.

7.) 22 Dec 2017 00:19:47
utter rubbish mark allen no experience in fact who and what the feg does he actually do?
waste of a wage
bee in my bonnet with him

8.) 22 Dec 2017 09:57:38
Load of pish as a have stated for a long time there will be money avaliable soon and a lot as soon as Ashley has sold Newcastle . He is still funding everything from a distance at the minute .

9.) 22 Dec 2017 13:17:23
This rumour suddenly doesn't seem far fetched.

The club's statement is quite clear. Rangers asked Aberdeen permission to speak to McInnes to assess his willingness to consider the job. The answer in a statement from Aberdeen was that at this stage in his career, it would be best for him to remain in his current post. We asked, they put it to him, he soiled his pants with fright and said no. Rangers manager? Never in a million years.

Kirk Willoughby, the son of Alex Willoughby, is the Bristol scout up here and he says this is utter rubbish.

agreed, der-goalie, considering he's Celtic daft you wonder why they're not interested in him. I've seen this boy a number of times and he's no more than decent. You'd be taking the gamble that there's improvement in him.

One doesn't necessarily lead to the other, in fact I'm sure it won't. There's room for both in that squad, easily.

The quote didn't say we'd need to pay Southampton £3m but with agents' fees and all the rest it would be a £3m deal in total.

Windass is a far better prospect than Docherty and we should be trying to keep him.

Open your eyes guys and forget the holiday hysteria, Bates, Halliday and Dalcio are not first team performers for Rangers. Neither are Kranjcar, Hodson, Herrera, O'Halloran and Cardoso, and only Bates out of that lot ever have a chance of becoming good enough. One Florida swallow does not make a summer, so ask yourselves if any of the above were shown the door, would they be missed? Add Alves and Alnwick to that list of those we need to lose.

In preparation for next season we should recognise that our squad will consist of Foderingham, Kelly, Tavernier, A Wilson, McCrorie, D Wilson, Bates, Wallace, John, Candeias, Jack, Dorrans, Murphy, Windass, Holt, Barjonas, Morelos. I'd love to add Goss to that, leaving room for around six new signings that will strengthen the team. Then we could have a squad that is worthy of the challenge.

desrfc paperwork is actually vital, you just cannot take a player who is still registered with another club away with you.

A guy who is getting a lot of game time with a club currently flying in the EPL, putting him to the front of everybody's mind and with a good chance of playing in Europe next season. Aye, he'll walk away from that to sign for us.
