Just putting this out there as I received an email after the Hibs game from a good contact whom I trust, that an ex-player will be returning in January. Any ideas?

I'm informed that the conversation he was party to referred to a player, I have no more details. Just thought if anyone else had heard something similar (it was discussed in the directors' box at the Ross County game) then there might be something in it.

14.) 14 Dec 2017 17:30:21
Willie Henderson

15.) 14 Dec 2017 20:35:15
dutycalls, why didn't he email you after the ross county game why wait till after hivs game?

16.) 14 Dec 2017 20:43:29
JOHN FLECK - can't see it though, he's building a good reputation at shef utd

17.) 14 Dec 2017 22:06:38
Regrettably Joe dodoo will be returning in January. Flopped at charlton.

18.) 14 Dec 2017 23:16:04
Vladimir weiss and it will be the best signing for a long time!

19.) 14 Dec 2017 23:36:09
I know it's a long shot, but a certain person did say that they left Scotland to early? The little general, dick advocatt!

20.) 15 Dec 2017 00:06:38
Davie cooper, richard gough, amorouso, sasa papac, kanchelskis, gazza, laudrup, negri, coisty, albertz, butcher, hatley, barry ferguson. Just a few but knowing our board it will be whittaker and broadfoot.

21.) 15 Dec 2017 00:24:40
Gattuso

22.) 15 Dec 2017 05:13:58
As long as it’s none of the rats.

23.) 15 Dec 2017 08:47:17
Fod you call your self a gers fan and someone says ex player coming back and you say the late great davie cooper (rip) how disrespectful to say someone who has sadly passed away who was 1 of if not thee greatest ger ever there joking around and there is joking about gough amo etc yes but do not disrespect the name of great players who have sadly passed wether they are from gers the tic the well etc.

24.) 15 Dec 2017 08:49:50
Fod,

Mentioning cooper is in pretty poor taste.

25.) 15 Dec 2017 09:22:26
Wish it was Weiss but he is out for months I think it’s his ACL. I think that Hyndman could come in and play just behind the strikers, he can’t even make the subs bench for his club, would surely like to come back here and play in front of our big crowd

26.) 15 Dec 2017 09:30:54
Davie cooper fod? Really?

27.) 15 Dec 2017 09:41:27
Your missing the point, Fod isn’t being disrespectful. He is merely highlighting some of the great Rangers players of the past.

Unfortunately those days look like a million miles away.

Only when we signed Mo Johnston were the fans as divided as we are now. Surely it must mean something to the board that such a majority of supporters don't want to see McInnes as Rangers manager. This has created rancour and often nastiness where previously none existed and it will leave a whiff of bitterness that might be around longer than the new manager.

He'll have some job on his hands to prove to so many fans that he was worth all of this, and considering he's already buckling under pressure even before he is appointed, it doesn't look good. But every time those blue jerseys take to the field the whole playing and management squad will have our total support.

dutycalls

1.) 06 Dec 2017 20:18:39
if he gets appointed everybody should back mcinnes 100%

2.) 06 Dec 2017 21:28:12
Difference was like him or loathe him mojo was top notch a world class striker

3.) 06 Dec 2017 22:02:46
Majority of fans don't want him? According to what data? You talking to some mates down the pub aye?

4.) 06 Dec 2017 22:11:57
Ed allowed an online poll today * 60% of people who took part didn't want McInnes * Its only an online poll but from a respected fan site you can get an idea of how regular posters on here feel* McInnes at tbis moment in timd dosdnt appear to be our *special one*

5.) 06 Dec 2017 22:29:56
Bet you that same 60% were happy when we appointed a Portuguese manager from the Middle East who had previously managed in Mexico and somehow convinced themselves that it was the correct appointment.

6.) 06 Dec 2017 23:13:14
Dutycalls. . The fans are divided? Its a new manager we are talking about not a war with Russia! Get a grip of yourself. You will be burning scarves next. How was the poll before Pedro got the job? Was that 60%? Nobody knew who he was. Nobody! At least we know Derek McInnes and he is a good manager. give him a chance. Some of the so called fans on here should take a good hard look at themselves. If you don't want. bugger off then!

7.) 06 Dec 2017 23:19:08
If McInnes gets it I'll support him the same as I did with our last manager! He's not my number one choice but he's the one that is no doubt going to be unveiled as our great clubs next permanent boss! The last one was a mistake by the board and I also got to the stage where I hoped he'd leave or get the bullet! Whoever comes in I'll give my 100% support to him as I have done for the past 46 years of my life ( 32 of them as a season book holder ) and it rules me when I hear people or so called supporters of our club knocking someone before they even take up the mantle! If he brings something different I hope it takes our team forward like he did Aberdeen over the past few years and no one can deny he has done on a far limited budget than what was given to the last two Rangers managers! Let's all support our club and whoever takes up the reigns!

8.) 07 Dec 2017 08:47:05
Wish people would stop saying the magority don't won't mcinnes, it's not as simple as 60% don't want him, 40% do. Who would do better reallisticly, not counting people like Walter. In all the polls mcinnes gets 30 to 40% evreryone else at best 10 to 20% so he's the most popular in those terms. So people can stop with the listen to the fans, so if they listen to the fans, who is it then.

9.) 07 Dec 2017 10:31:02
Looks like it is going to happen now. I thought there were a couple of better options out there but at the end of the day if the guy is there to do his damndest to at least try and bridge the gap between us and that mhob, I will be happy with that. What I Don't want is a capitulation, as happened with MW and Pedro teams, especially against them where there were hugs and love fests at the end of the games. Let Brendan do the hugging after they have lost 5-1 or whatever. See how that goes.

10.) 07 Dec 2017 11:45:29
what a load of guff 5 weeks ago he was the best thing since sliced bread lol
rtid

11.) 07 Dec 2017 13:20:52
Personally don’t understand why anyone is against. Granted he’s not Gio, Pardew, Allardyce, De Boer but I don’t think they were ever realistic. He knows the Scottish game and I think he will take us forward but Lum is right, Rangers fans will support him when he arrives no matter whether they wanted him or not

12.) 07 Dec 2017 13:22:03
TheCampbell, the results of various polls and surveys on numerous sites including this one, which has had several, have consistently shown that a good majority of fans have been opposed to this appointment, often as many as 80%. Still, if the sand is deep enough to cover your head, then by all means stick it in.

13.) 07 Dec 2017 13:24:59
But that's just your assumption, your guess, Rick Witter. You can't even begin to back that up. Here's one for a start who didn't want Pedro. As usual you try to deflect rather than face facts.

14.) 07 Dec 2017 13:28:50
McInnes isn't my first choice but like any appointed Rangers Manager I will back him 100%.

15.) 07 Dec 2017 13:30:37
He’ll get the full backing when he gets here and so he should. with our money situation its always going to split the fans who we appoint but for what its worth i think McInnes will doa good job for us

04 Dec 2017 10:38:44
McInnes has a dig at Rangers saying he's not happy with the way things have played out. Doesn't sound like our new manager talking. Meanwhile, Salary McCoist, his chief barker, says McInnes's chances of getting the job are getting 'slimmer'. Good news!

dutycalls

1.) 04 Dec 2017 11:08:46
McInnes had a dig at the media and all their speculation he did not have a dig at Rangers

2.) 04 Dec 2017 11:12:09
I seriously hope it's not him but does anyone else not think it could be Steve Clark he ticks every box to what Dave king said about Scottish/ brittish knows the league and tbh I think he would be a lot better choice than McGinnis he has managed in the English premiership and championship was a coach at Chelsea and has a pretty good track record far better than McGinnises

3.) 04 Dec 2017 11:48:41
Do we really want Derek McInnes as manager. The guy does not know how to win big games.

Since the gers have been back in the spl his record against old firm is shocking. 2 wins out of 6 against us (and let's face it we have been poor for a long period there) and 7 defeats from 7 games against septic.

Let's just offer Murty the job and move forward. The man who has got us back into second deserves his chance.

4.) 04 Dec 2017 12:01:18
@AGBroxi He mentioned both - Rangers and the media. Specifically he took a thinly-veiled swipe at Rangers by implying insiders of the club are feeding the journos.

5.) 04 Dec 2017 12:32:10
Deanobear, I was just chatting to a pal last night and suggested Steve Clarke could be a possibility.

6.) 04 Dec 2017 12:42:52
To be fair to McInnes when we signed McLeish Hibs weren’t doing to well if I remember correctly and he wasn’t the fans choice but went on to win 5 out of his next 5 trophies.

7.) 04 Dec 2017 12:56:18
5 out of 6 actually Mprent111. Celtic won the league that season Mcleish came to us. You really don’t know the history of our club do you? I’ve lost count of the amount of times I have had to correct you.

8.) 04 Dec 2017 13:11:56
That's why it has to be McLeish. He has done it before and knows how to beat them. If it is DM, Rodgers might as well present his arse to be kissed on an even more regular basis. Even Murty with his inexperience set up a poor Rangers squad to take a point at porkheid and might well have sneaked it at the end as we finished the stronger. Could DM have done that? Also, he has been scathing of Rangers over the past couple of weeks. I'd let him stew up there. They both deserve each other

9.) 04 Dec 2017 14:12:50
Rick, The league was gone by the time McLeish signed at xmas. He only had a realistic chance at 2 that first season

10.) 04 Dec 2017 14:14:13
I’m not a fan of McLeish latter years clearly but now you’re holding it against him for not winning the league when we were miles behind when he joined. Get a grip Rick

11.) 04 Dec 2017 14:21:18
You do realise even though I thought he was manager for 5 and a half years and said 2 titles in 5 years wasn’t good enough in my opinion I never included the title you’re now saying he could have and I’m assuming should have won in your opinion he actually did only win 2 titles in 5 seasons. Harsh Rick harsh 😂

12.) 04 Dec 2017 14:45:09
I’m not holding nothing against Mcleish and never will. As I said before, I respect his achievements for us. It’s you if you go through your ramblings who has been slagging the guy off. I’m just having to clean up your false “facts” about the guy time and time again. Making false losing streaks up and adding time on to his managerial career. I think the joke is on you Mprent111 and I don’t even have to put a wee laughing emoji at the end of this comment because everyone will be laughing at your false ramblings anyway.

13.) 04 Dec 2017 14:46:57
If you’re going to be picky Rick was it not 5 out of 8 then? Wouldn’t want to get my facts wrong so better hold it against him that he never won the two European competitions he was involved in

14.) 04 Dec 2017 15:05:04
Haha like your false he won 5 out of 6 when he was involved in 8 competitions. Or are you only 100% accurate when you’re picking holes in what others say? I do apologise for saying he went ten games in the league when it was just ten games without a win and I do apologise for saying he lost 7 on the trot to Celtic when it was 7 without a win but I suppose when you have nothing better to do all day you can pick holes in the wording 😂

15.) 04 Dec 2017 15:09:00
I’m not slagging him off I just pointed out he won 5 of his 7 trophies in the first 18 months and he holds two unwanted records which is true. I also think it’s fair to say we won the league on the last day of the season because Celtic got to the Final just like I believe it’s fair to say they won the league the year we got to Manchester because we got to Manchester. Said time and time again he had a phenomenal start to life at rangers and lucky or not helicopter sunday was one of the best days in our history in my opinion. I believe based on his latter years at rangers and more importantly what he’s done in the last ten years that he isn’t the man to take us forward.

16.) 04 Dec 2017 17:01:18
Still rambling on I see and still using emojis. Priceless.

17.) 04 Dec 2017 18:30:59
Just correcting your false facts, Rick.

18.) 05 Dec 2017 09:29:48
I said Clarke weeks ago if it was to be an existing SPL manager I’d want him.

18 Nov 2017 22:07:05
After today's performance obviously our thoughts will turn again to a new manager, so for the fourth and last time I will try to give you all this information, but admin will probably block it again. We have already had preliminary contact regarding this - with the de Boer twins. Frank as manager and Ronald as head coach. The board and the DoF are unanimous about this and an announcement could now be brought forward. Compensation for Ronald is minimal and they are happy to keep Murty and JJ in their usual roles. No point in saying where this comes from except it wasn't a garage, a night club, a queue at the ice cream van or the reception area at Carstairs. This is good info.

dutycalls

1.) 19 Nov 2017 02:39:03
could now be brought forward? if it was that much set in stone why would we be waiting at all?

2.) 19 Nov 2017 09:37:42
Hope this happens "dutycalls" as experiment #3 with an under 20s coach is NOT the answer.
If our club ever needed a lift and a WOW factor it is now.
DeBoer brothers, Vanbronkhurst, Coleman (too late) are three that would show our intent but I for one am dreading the drivel that will be spewed when we eventually choose our next gaffer

The club's statement is quite clear. Rangers asked Aberdeen permission to speak to McInnes to assess his willingness to consider the job. The answer in a statement from Aberdeen was that at this stage in his career, it would be best for him to remain in his current post. We asked, they put it to him, he soiled his pants with fright and said no. Rangers manager? Never in a million years.

LDM17, aged 28 isn't exactly young for a player who can't even get a cap for one of the worst Scotland teams in history.

Hendry is 22 years old and has played just 35 senior games, half of them this season. Very inexperienced for his age and not much development in him. Don't think so. Kerr is marginally better.

John was brought here to play in front of Wallace, which was his natural position until Cardiff tried to make him a full back. Injury to Wallace means that hasn't happened, but it will.
