McCausland has looked bright, energetic and direct in all the games he`s come on, including two European games. He has set up chances with great passes or in one, a wee head flick, and if some of our senior players could finish he would have 4 or 5 assists . The proof of the pudding will be when he gets to start to see if he can be more than an impact player . At the moment, what's not to like about him, he is an Academy graduate which helps in Europe terms and he`s a Rangers fan so give him a new deal and let's see how he progresses . Pretty sure he won`t be looking for funny money so its a no brainer for me.

I 100% want everyone in bteam to succeed, love lace ishaka better than him

Not worried about him getting chances. Clement clearly plays wingers and matondo and sima are the only ones we have. Cantwell Lawrence playing there outta of necesities. Mccausland looking good and should be given a start soon and I'd expect he is with big Phil in charge. He will renew soon he's going to smash it. He's been amazing for the B team at the games I've even too.

John I think its odd that you say he has been poor for the B team because he has been very good for the first team. I don't see much of the B team so I will have to take your word for that. Big Phil wants him to sign a new contract so again this would rebuff your opinion that he has been poor for the B team. I don't think anyone is saying you are not allowed an opinion either my friend, people are allowed to question your opinion without you taking it personally. When do you think we will Ishaka in the first team if you think he is better than a player already in the first team?

Roofe has barely been fit for years. Same will be said for Lawrence, Souttar, Matondo and Yilmaz should they been given new deals. The lad Mccausland is the type of player we need to offer a contract to, not those who have constant injuries and clearly can't cope with the schedule of the spl and Europe.

John, like you I keep an eye on the B team and on the three or four occasions I saw McAusland I wouldn't have given him much of a chance, and I was in youth football for 20 years. He seems to have blossomed over the past 4-6 months, as often happens, just as I was thinking he was probably in his final year with us. He has never caught the eye of Northern Ireland selectors either. I really hope he continues to develop and becomes a first team pick for us.

John, you know you have earned respect on here and I read it that the 2 queries from the other posters were simply seeking clarification, which you provided. I had the same query internally about why defenders would have an impact on the squad and I’m grateful for the clarification- sometimes my brain doesn’t work as well as i would like it to. You should take it as a compliment that others value your opinion and seek clarification- I don’t think you should take it as a slight, although I obviously don’t speak for the others; it’s just my own reading of the situation. Every time the lad has played in the first team this season, John, he's done well.

I know you've seen him play for the B team, and as you have stated, he's never stood out, but maybe there's a chance he's better suited in the first team? It's common place for players to shine at youth level, and in the B team, then fail when they step up, but maybe the boy is going against the norm? I know it's a long shot, but stranger things have happened.

I tend to agree with John sometimes players play better with better players around them and the step up or down levels can sometimes just make something click with a player

It worked for kane went t championship done very little back to spurs got a chance and something clicked and he became the player he is today

Sometimes you just need right manager to show faith in you.

I have seen a fair bit over the B team over the years and must say McAusland has been been OK in it.
His performances over the last few week have been surprising but most welcome.
It's great that PC is showing faith in the youth coming through and I hope he keeps faith in them when all the players out injured come back.
I would say Lovelace, Yfeko, Thompson and Rice could step up.
On a side note think Gary O'connor boy on loan at Airdrie looks a good prospect he looked electric against Rangers B in midweek and worth keeping an eye on.
