It's clear we need to make more money, in the absence of more investment, to survive and I've brought up midweek friendlies in the past.

Here's a long shot. we share an almost identical club badge with Flamengo of Brazil, a passionate fan base ( though theirs' does seem to measure 39 million ) and football was introduced to Brazil by a Scot. How about a home and away friendly at Ibrox and the Maracana? Both would be sold out and televised worldwide.

Are you mad?. televised worldwide?

Go lie down man.

Great idea. I support Partick Thistle and we play in an almost identical strip to FC Barcelona so we could play them. Ashfield could be paired with some South American giants who play in black and white. Each game could be shown 'worldwide'. Sky might be interested. and every match could be kicked off by a 'celebrity twin'. Its a wonderful idea kfraser, thank you so much for suggesting it.

John, mate. FC Barcelona play in an almost identical strip to us.

Uuumm your point Paddy?

To JohnTheJag, no disrespect to Partick as my uncle was a fan of the team but you don't have the pulling power of Rangers.

This story and journey of ours couldn't have been made up and as nightmarish as it is, it's a story many around the world of sport follow. I'm surprised a documentary director hasn't latched on to it. A good friend of mine in Rio commented on the similarity to the badge and wondered if the two teams had a historical connection. The badge is everything, the strip colours not so. Check it out on google for yourself.

I think the marketing people at Rangers are doing a great job and there's no question about it but we could perhaps be making a great deal of money from documenting this journey. It's a unique sporting story involving a team known almost everywhere in the world. I don't think a Scottish club team has ever played a Brazilian one. Could be wrong but what a story this could make. The media is all powerful today and we should at least be looking at angles. Good luck to your team by the way, I think they're a damn fine one with a great history.

John, am a Thistle supporter too and FCB copied us. They're even started to play like us.

7.) 13 Nov 2013

We played a team from brazil at ibrox in one of those 4 team pre-seaon tourney's (port algero or something like that) must have been early 90's (I think).

we also played a team from brazil in miami (i went to the game), was just a piss up no glamour fixture, at the rose bowl, was only a few thousand at the game.
