My personal assessment of the squad so far.

GK wes now has competiton from gilks although we expect him to remain as our number one there could be the potential of a further signing here or someone from our youth could potentially take a place as number three.

At right back we have Tav, who is a very technical and expressive player not necessarily the best defender. However if we sign Hodson he can cover this position, as well as hopefully left back. As a team we were very fortunate surrounding injuries in that department last season. I do feel that hodson is a much safer player than wallace and tav however that may be exactly what we need at times and there is nothing to say he can't step in if either gets injured or develop as a player having both around him.

At centre back I personally feel we are harsh on. Last season in our biggest games outwith the final where the whole team under performed I feel our centre backs were fairy competent in the big games especially when Dom Ball was sistting in front of them and they we only played one attacking full back (Usually against premiership opposition and that for me was when they looked there best) I feel we will play much more like this next season and this will hopefully enable us with the experience added to defend much better as a team. You look at a Clint Hill and you can only have admiration for the man. He has clearly been there and done it and he having listened to his interviews appears very humble and grateful for the opportunity he has. It can only be a positive signing looking back at our defensive inexperience last season. Whether the guy from USA signs or not I still expect another potential starting centre back to be signed before the end of the window.

In midfield last season we had Holt who I feel was a real stand out and of the midfielders from last season I feel he has the best chance of holding a starting position. Haliday is I good player but I feel with the quality we have signed has fell down the pecking order but I'm open to being proven wrong.

You look at the quality in the four midfield additions made and I don't think anyone is really taking it seriously. Joey Baron was playing in a league better than our own. He was the player of the year in a team that came first in the league. He was also in the team of the year although he wasn't voted player of the year in that competition. However his quality over the years have been evident. Over shadowed by his nature at times and the stories that come with him but arguments can be made if he is currently the best player in Scottish football. Jordan Rossiter is one of England's best prospects Liverpool expecting and someone probably would have paid the £8,000,000 for him. Because of our intelligence in the transfer market we managed to use the system to get him for £250,000. That has to be the best piece of business in the window. He can't lose that value he will never be worth £250,000 in his career with the clubs he's been to and experience especially if develops into a talent which with where our club is going is the key aim I expect a big pay out one day from this transfer. Kranjcar is a player with a lot of quality shown over the years capped nearly 90 times by Croatia who aren't a bad footballing country. If he gets going he could be that something special that we lacked at times last season to unlock the more stubborn defences we will have to face this season. Since teams are obviously a step up in level.

I personally believe that Crooks will be a starter potentially at CB the guys a monster but he has quality on the ball too. He may be deployed in the CDM. The guy can play anywhere across the front and that includes striker whether or not he would be prolific he clearly has quality and our team would provide him chances so who knows he could even potentially play there that's the level of flexibility this guy has in his game. A key attribute in most of Warburton's signings. Windass however I'm not sure on but high things have been said of him and we can only wait and see what he will bring to the table but he does look like a fairly built guy playing on the wing which is different from what we have there (I think he's a bigger size than Ohalleron but i'm not sure) . Forrester also has the potential to play here and had shown at times next season he had a real unique nature to his game which he used to exploit teams and offered that little bit different. Can also be deployed wide.

Players like Waghorn, Mckay and Miller speak from themselves I don't need to tell you what they bring to the table all stand outs Miller in particular earning his contract. He will play a part this season. O'Halleron and Forrester can cover these positions although I do feel personally we really over paid for MOH. I also expect a quality striker to be signed by the end of the window.

I personally am insure where most of the complaints come from. I think every signing the management team has made so far is correct. I don't know who you would have signed instead of these players and all for under £400,000 this window so far. Shows there will be room for a £1,500,000 signing including wages. I feel the future is bright for Rangers and everything surrounding it and I really feel as if fans should just get behind the team and the board so we can flourish and be successful. Only together can we get our club back to the glory days.

Well said Ross I personally think they don't need to spend much this season due to not being in Europe. I think they are keeping money for next season to attract a better quality of player. I would like to see a striker cumming in just wonder who that will be.

I feel if we could get Cummings for around 750k then our squad is solid for the new season.

Great post Ross, well thought and well written, I honestly don't understand were the flack comes from in our signings so far, the club have spent very wisely and have replaced players at a better standard than the ones that left, well done all at management level, very smart business.

Appreciate it Dellboy, some short sighted people forget the spending of previous regimes (not only Murray but Whyte and Green) offering huge contracts to lesser players. It's black and white to me I say it a lot but some people are just into complaining.

O'halleron was a steal, and should be used as a striker next season.

Really good posting Ross, wish more posters were as positive as yourself, but then again it is Rangers banter and everyone has the right to express their opinion.
