I'd like to put an idea out there, just to see if there is any agreement from across the readership.

Can Rangers aim to be THE Scottish club? By that I mean the board should not only attract the best of Scottish talent into the youth set up, but also make it its mission to buy the best of the talent from other clubs. This is not earth shattering in its vision, but simply put- it would make a virtue out of necessity, and build a USP that would maybe rally support beyond the present fan base. It would set Rangers apart from certain other teams. Should there not be a Scottish Club, just as there is a Catalan, or Bavarian team that carries that hope in Europe?

I'm not saying that Rangers should never recruit from abroad, but perhaps make that the exception rather than the rule. Would that work? Imagine what the team would be like if most current Scottish international players were signed to Rangers; could they take on Celtic and win?

SG should target the obvious rising stars in the premiership, and do what McCoist should have done years ago- build an attacking team that can entertain, win, and even turn a profit.

I really do totally agree with the sentiment, however why would in our current economic position a world club like Rangers be inward looking with regards to players, we should and hopefully will be casting our net to all corners of the globe attracting the best. Which I will admit the best is sometimes not enough, you have to be cut from something a bit special to succeed at RANGERS. Aye Ready or in scouse, let's go!

Sentiment is sound, but it's not practical. I would like a solid Base of home talent tho.

In terms of signings tho, there's no good Scottish forwards, and few defenders.

Mcginn is probably the pick right now.
