Don't believe the club listens to fans when it comes to signings.
Hearing this debate about Scottish players a lot on here.
The boy Doig would have been a good signing but we didn't sign him so that one needs put to bed.
If we wanted Lewis Ferguson we would have got him.
It's split on here regarding him, i don't go for all this he's a rangers man stuff, for me he wouldn't have taken us to a higher level and at the time certainly not better than what we had.

A bit of realism is required at times in regards to signing Scottish players.
I didn’t think Doig, Ferguson and Dykes would enhance the first 11 when everyone was wanting them signed.
And we didn’t have the finances to sign players as bench warmers.
£5 - 6 million a couple of years back was a huge outlay.
Who would you rather have as back up to Barisic- Doig for upwards of £2 million or Bassey for a cross border development fee?
Ferguson was never getting in our midfield in front of Kamara, Jack, Davis, Arfield. So why spend upwards of £3 million?
Dykes I just don’t rate.

Doig and Ferguson would make our starting 11 better IMO but when has any club listened to fans over signings.

Would rather Ferguson than our ageing midfielders just now. Jack always injured arfield a great sub but not a starter now. Davis doesn’t have the legs and kamara has blown hot and cold. Dykes a don’t rate ether and Doig and hickey looked ok in our league but no as good as they have done away from it.

Reality is that fans know nothing about the potential of this player or that player.

If fans want to say it’s easy, buy a club or become a significant investor.

We pay our money to support the club, bask in the glory when successful and go through the pain of failure.

No one is forced to shell out anything ~ we all make our own choices.

Don’t believe the fans listen to the club when we continue to chant bile etc. maybe time for the real fans to stand up against these imposters.

Daviedouglas1980 a don't think for one minute ridvan was brought in as a back up. I just think he wasn't as ready to go as we thought language barrier bulking up a little etc. Imo he was definitely brought here to start games just not worked out for various reasons. I also think as soon as the boy gets a run of games the spot will be his I really like the look of him mate.

If ferguson is doing well in italy he's good enough for us, simples.

Totally agree MPH at that moment in time they wouldn't have got a game infront of any player in our team.

Guys important thing to remember, it’s not Scottish players we require, it’s a player off any nationally who has spent three years at ibrox or other Scottish academy,
The player could be Welsh, Irish, English, Romanian American, Australian, as we have at present in our academy

Also note dykes does not meet criteria to be classed as Scottish academy trained

Dk must disagree we know nothing about players, you don’t know background off everyone on here.

You are missing the point DD1980.
When Doig first appeared on the scene, Hibs were wanting a couple of million for him.
With our limited finances at that time, there is no way we would have payed that for a young player who was still finding his feet.
And we had Bassey.
I work beside a Hibs diehard who said he was rank rotten for about 6 months after his initial early promise.
Would any Rangers fan honestly have been happy spending £2 million on a player who then played badly?
Now there is a case that we could have shelled the asking fee for him instead of buying Yilmaz.
But of what I’ve seen of both, I prefer Yilmaz.

Dk how do fans know nothing about the potential of a player? You are basically saying we shouldn’t be allowed an opinion with the bs.

Mr PotatoHead
We have spend money on players fit and injured who have bombed for us in past and many media outlets now saying Yilmaz on his way for cut price fee - therefore we could have stumped big cash for zero return!
At least with Scottish players - hopefully they don't see a major culture change and get homesick at drop of a hat.
We need the correct mix from abroad and good young home based players - big cash and a foreign league does not always mean we have a star who can walk right into team succeed, and feel at home.
PS . I liked look of Yilmaz and hoped he would go on to be good for us.
Remember. 7 mill on Kent with potentially now zero return - unless he re-signs and ups his game.

i personally know dozens of celtic and rangers fans who are ex or part time scouts and coaches, at all levels, some have explained tactical issues to me that i hadn’t thought about, my closest pal brought through derek barry ferguson, durrant etc, a great football brain, , have to say many fans know plenty about football, some know absolutely nothing mind, like the moronic song brigade.
