One issue with giving them a goal is the fact it takes away from the utterly abysmal referee/ VAR performance. How on earth is the hand ball a penalty when he’s using his arms to balance from landing and is facing the wrong direction? Then to prove at least they’re consistent they give us what is an utterly bizarre penalty as well. How is a trip outside the box a penalty? The refs are so poor up here it’s ridiculous and VAR just highlights it further.

Davidb I’m not sure the pen was given for the trip think it was given for the pull on the jersey but either way it was soft and the one they got is crazy.

Yeah maybe but if that was all the contact there was I can’t see it being a pen. Even if that is what it’s for I’m not sure that’s in the box either I’d need to watch it back. Both of them were terrible decisions in my eyes.

Davidb the pull if you can call it that was in the box but the trip was well outside and it was never a pen free kick yes.

VAR isn’t the issue.
It’s the interpretation of the rules by incompetent refs.
We saw it it in England as well at the weekend.
