I think people are basing there opinion on him on his first team outings, we need to remember he is still 19 and has time. If he is progressing correctly with the under 21 squad. At this age people develop at different speeds. There is people on here who watch a lot of the younger guys would like to here ther opinion.

Devine is a regular in GVBs match day squad and at 19 years of age, it can only be positive news for the club.
Good to see young players progressing from the Academy and hopefully they go onto become an integral part of the first team.

Hopefully we get to see more of him this season, as he's looked promising in the few glimpses I've seen.

I know some folk in the Scotland set up and they say he's a hell of a talent - but lacks a bit of self belief. something which Paterson was never short of.

No idea who'll go on to be better but most fans have been crying out for years we don't promote youth enough so it's great to see focus on them. Tavs virtually an ever present who doesn't seem in a hurry to leave so would much rather a player like Devine or Patterson before him promoted than the like of Flanagan Polster or Hodson we brought in before. And if we go on to make another £12m for someone who only plays as a backup that's great.

I like the ambition for the boy John ans others. However, Patterson played at the Euros for Scotland when he was 19. I can unserstand why Mulholland would say that Devine is the better prospect but if you take any bias/ spin out of it then I think its a bit insulting towards Patterson considering what he had already achieved.

I think Devine has looked comfortable when he’s played, even when playing on opposite side.
I think he’s good enough to merit place on bench and as cover at RB but like so many of current squad jury is out.

John26 if you really think Patterson wasn't sold solely for the money your more deluded than I thought. Arguably the best homegrown talent you have produced in decades. If he had stayed at rangers he'd be the first on the team sheet every week. Hell his forward presence may even have won yous the Europa League. Although I have never seen this Devine kick a ball, as Celtic and Scotland fan I rate Patterson very highly, it's a shame the time he's having at Everton, boy of his talents should be playing 90 mins, week in week out. Hope he kicks on soon, he could become Scotland's own Gareth Bale imo.
