The quoted fee is so high because he is on a hot streak just now.

Players with a scoring record and previous club list like that ended up at the like of Hibs and Dundee Utd and you want to chuck what is a serious chunk of our money at him?

Morelos is leaving next summer for free if we don’t sell him in January. If we could sell Morelos for a few million (I doubt we’ll get more than that) and replace him with Jerry Yates on a 5 year deal I’d take that. I’d take that all day long.

Now do something similar with Ryan Kent. A quality young RW to replace him as well.

Tt1212 the "professionals" have 4 decent signings out of 23 in 3.5 years. I wouldn't trust them to tie their laces.

Guys we had chance to get a young free scoring Lawrence Shankland (Gers fan) at Ayr Utd in around 2019 for hundreds of thousands not millions.
He went to Dundee Utd and then Beerschot then Hearts and has scored wherever he has played.
We did not take a chance then because he was not a high profile type player. but who knows what he could have achieved at Ibrox (3 goals at weekend vs a Premier defence) .
I would like us to take chances with these types of player rather than becoming fixated with an English based player who is on a hot streak and we will end up in a bidding war for 5 mill or more.
We need a good blend of signings because not always the big price guarantees the best outcome - that's why our signing policy concerns me at times.

GVB did not bring the Turkish lad to Ibrox Wilson did, as a replacement for Bassey. GVB was not allowed to bring in any of his choices because no money according to board. Blame the board not GVB.

I'm sure we were linked with him a couple of seasons ago too. He could be a dud on a decent bit of form or he could be the next Ivan Toney. I remember our fans scoffing at 5m for him a few seasons back. Floyd, Shanklin went to Dundee utd and struggled in Spl getting 8 goals in 32 games then struggled in Belgium. Seems to be playing well for Hearts and I think for a free would have been worth the gamble but I reckon if we had signed him then he would have struggled and probably been sold to a Hearts, Aberdeen etc by now.
