Here's a thought or two for the people who insist on boycotts. ashley already has security of edminston house & albion car park so this is how it will go fans continue to boycott no cash generated default on loans that's 2 assets he owns. he gives us another loan say against M. P fans continue to boycott no cash generated default on loans that's another asset he owns. he gives us another loan against clubs badge, emblems fans continue to boycott another asset gone then all you have left isthe crown jewel Ibrox. no fans no cash he then owns that fans still boycott he needs to get his cash back so he punts Ibrox M. P to housing or supermarket makes a fortune and still holds all the other assets so THE GLASGOW RANGERS would no longer exist, still want to boycott ?.

Suppose it depends on what's important to you. One thing you need to remember, there is a reason for Ashley doing this, and it isn't because he is a life long Rangers man. He wants to make money for Sports Direct, not Rangers and having Rangers playing in the SPL and Europe in whatever form gives him worldwide advertising free of charge, you couldn't buy it. So, he won't allow the club to go under BUT he will want it to pay it's own way which is what the cry has been since all this started. So, don't think your panic stations version of events will happen and ALSO they don't have to take another loan form Ashley, they can go where they want, he only owns 9%, he isn't the majority shareholder and when the other investors see him starting to flex they will close ranks. The way everyone is talking, he already has the keys to the blue room. not yet and thee is still plenty of time for King and his merry band of men to go and buy shares in the club using whatever means, same as the Celtic fans did to oust their old board, wasn't done by just Fergus, the shares had to be bought to leverage them out.

{Ed001's Note - what advertising will he get from European football? The advertising is all UEFA's.}

@ allymac then you ask yourself are the people who own man city, man utd, liverpool, Chelsea all supporters no they are millionaire business men who see a chance to make more by having a successful team on the pitch.

Allmac,

unfortunately we cannot go where we want for loans. Ashley is the only one offering money at the moment, so the drip drip loss of our assets as r. f. describes is a distinct possibility.

It makes good business sense. Why buy out shareholders when you can loan the club money secured on assets, safe in the knowledge they cannot pay you back. boomf, you own the asset without paying much for it.

FFW two years, he owns the entire club, and is free to do what he wants with it.

I'd like to add that I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. I'm fed up with a succession of "Rangers Men" who were rubbish at business.

Maybe it's time we need someone who is just good at making a business work, who isn't interested in the history of the club or being from a particular staunch background.

@4, you're missing the culture of Rangers, what it is do be a Rangers fan. It's about the history, the memories, the greats who played for the club. I agree business is business but for the fans it was never about the balance sheet and those who " got it " historically were Rangers men and they ran a tight ship. I don't believe outsiders will understand the mentality of what Rangers is.

R. f. a fair comment however I think the difference between the other owners is they have committed to the club and invested huge sums of money to make them successful. let's be honest these guys all want to be the best in Europe, and that will never happen at Rangers so the desire isn't going to be the same. Ashley has set a precedent with Newcastle hasn't he, cut costs, replace big earners, sell best players, minimal investment in relation to the amount they have coming in. if Ashley's desire was to be the best in Europe then he would have spent more at Newcastle to make them a consistent top6 team but the level of investment required for that is huge and he has no intention of doing that. The aim is to cut costs, make the club a viable concern, live within means and siphon profits back to the shareholders. NOW, as I said earlier he is not the majority shareholder so all this is conjecture at the moment, LLambias can't just go in and start cutting the place to bits, the other board members have the veto on that as well so other than the fact that he has loaned the club a few quid he hasn't really increased his power and Llambias is a decent appointment anyway. Also what you have to remember is the other shareholders won't allow Ashley to gain control of their assets quite as easily as you are portraying, don't forget they have millions invested in the club a swell and they will want a return for their investors. It is still a money game, too many fingers in the pie and until one of them makes a real move it will sit like this for a while yet, problem is what happens for next months payroll? Also they cannot do any more shares until they have published accounts and Deloitte won't sign off as the club currently isn't a going concern.

After a succession of Rangers Men who have completely stuff us, I think the Rangers 'mentality' isn't necessarily useful as a modern football club owner.

As you say allymac "he replaced big earners" at Newcastle and maybe that's were we have/went wrong in the past so maybe he will come in and overhaul everything & come up with a sustainable wage structure leading to stability all round I just think the man should be givin a chance will he turn it around ? Who knows, will boycotts work ? I think will do more harm than good, do I have a better idea ? I wish I had let's just give him a chance it can't do any harm and if you don't like it then you can say we gave you a chance now we are going to.

MA is no sugar daddy like SDM or DK nor is he some cheap rip off spiv like CW or CG, he is a serious businessman who knows the value of a successful Rangers. He will invest securely and make Rangers profitable, if the fans support him he may respond in kind and if they don't support him, he will strip Rangers bare.

It is up to the fans, personally i would give him a chance, Rangers cannot continue to lose money and survive.

MA definitely deserves to be given the time to reveal what he is wanting to do. It won't be pouring millions and millions into RFC though. There is NO upside for him in that.
