Can't help but think that the money spent in England is moral repugnant.

+£1.5bn and £200k + per week wages are obscene - It amazes me why so little is made of it by the press or politicians

It's not really sport if it is all about how much money you have to spend.

I don't know why people get so morally outraged by over inflated football transfers. If people want to pay over the odds for Sky, then Sky want to pay over the odds for a tv deal then the clubs will pay over the odds for players. It's a market.
It's no different from us dominating Scottish Football because of our larger fan base.

Were you complaining when we were doing 9 in a row? Got to say it is ridiculous to pay people more in a month than some will make in a lifetime. If people are happy to be ripped off by Sky though, things won't change. Even in Scotland I see a lot of over paid, under worked fairies getting paid crazy money.

I have been saying for years the EPL will go tits up one day, it seems to get stronger all the time.

Its different when our own football is being overlooked and paid an utter pittance. Our sky subscribers cash goes toward English teams, whom in-turn like to look down their nose and pour scorn on our game. Even now and possibly more so in the future, our kids will be supporting english teams rather than our own. Just because a football player is paid £200k per week against a football player paid £30k (celtic) this doesn't necessarily mean that they are streets ahead of the latter. Yes I agree they will be better, however. how much is the question. The English game and its money is creating a vortex in football. All monies for tv rights, clubs, players signings/ wages, fans entry and merchandise should be capped and regulated worldwide. Its the only way fairness and competition will come back into the game.

Moral outrage is borne out of the numbers.

People jump up and down at bankers, politicians etc earning big bucks (very small compared to EPL footballers) but don't have an issue with moodie Rooney earning £1m every month?

It's just the same money being recycled, your lucky if there was 400m fresh being spent. They love to inflate and market themselves like that, anything to get people to talk about them. We were notorious for outspending everyone so if you want to apply that then your discrediting your own club. Majority of there money goes to wages. That's why I can't understand people going mental of Leicester winning the league, I don't know any other team of that calibre that can afford 200k a week wages, yet all you here is "they only spent 20m" or whatever there still massive wage spenders. We allow England to market themselves and to spend themselves into the billions by buy watching there games, buying there strips talking about there garbage football. This has in turn forced the other members of the top leagues to get four teams into the champions league so they can try to compete with them. I walk about and all I see is foreign strips and its embarrassing.

And so little is said because ££££ in taxes and exposure of the country in general. West Minister is bias to England and always will be.

rec bob I don't understand your comment mate! its just like us because we have a bigger fan base its got nothing to do with that if that was the case then most of the English clubs would have a bigger fan base than us which they don't but they can still spend 35 million on bang average players!
its just nonsense!

We have more fans willing to pay money to watch us play than the other Scottish teams and that's why we have dominated Scottish Football. More people are willing to pay to watch the EPL (worldwide on Sky) than any other league and that is why they dominate the transfer market. Simples. It's just different markets, same rules apply.

Just my opinion Bears but with the right coach there ain't a huge difference between a 1-2m player and one at 250k-500k.

There is no way that the English League can sustain this type of spending indefinitely. All that it will take is for a few Arabs/ Americans/ Far Easterners to lose interest and walk away and/ or SKY to pull the plug and the whole of English football would dissolve overnight. I am not saying that it will happen any time soon but all good things come to an end, we as a club should be brutally aware of that above all others.

England may have a strong (but not the strongest) League but their National team have suffered enormously because of it. Joe Hart on loan to Torino! Really?

To me that epitomises everything that is wrong with English football.

If their National keeper can't get a game in the league then the rest may as well call it a day.

The poster who said that the EPL is destroying Scottish Football must have made a typo and meant SPL. Quite how one league flourishing destroys another doesn't make sense.

Scottish football has destroyed itself through gross mismanagement, years of neglect, lack of funding and ultimately a product that nobody wants to watch be it on tv or live.

We should be grateful of whatever deal SKY, BT or BBC give us because in my opinion it is a donation not sponsorship.
