John, the Scottish game is too brutal for gifted technical players who are lightweight.

Fans prefer crunching tackles to technique and the coaching system is designed around winning at too young an age.

If the SFA spent less time navel gazing and took the brave step of copying the French or Dutch models in 10 years time we might have some silky technical footballers dominating the SPL.

Until that happens there will be plenty of other failure in the SPL who go on to be great players elsewhere.
