Good to get the points on the board I must admit I was getting uncomfortable when I looked at the clock with us 1-0 down at 60 mins it wasn't perfect yesterday but the result is all that matters I expect things will go smother as the team gel a bit more.

We played far better in the second half and done more than enough for the three points, we had a goal chopped off which should have not happened.

I think we start with very negative tactics at times. Look at the difference from the 1st and 2nd half. There was one player in box to hit in the 1st half but in the 2nd 4 or 5 were bursting into the box.

First game of the season on a horrendous pitch against a very awkward team. I always think there's the risk of overanalyzing the first few games - it's a long season and we have seen us fade in seasons past. I'm sure fast forward a few weeks and a lot of the early issues will be addressed.

Was doing some coaching work today and we were reviewing the Livi goal.

Some interesting points of view on the first header.

Last season we, more often than not, started with two holding mids - so the LCM would be occupying the space.

When you watch it back, Lundstrum is alone centrally and Kent, Kamara, Lawrence and Wright are all in a perfect line just behind Colak.

Our debate today was, is Lundstrum 10 yards out of position or should Barasic have followed the forward in to the midfield?

Pundit, interesting one for you.

Was doing some coaching workshops today and we reviewed the Livi goal from yesterday.

When you freeze the image just after the keeper takes the freekick you can see that Kent, Kamara, Lawrence and Wright are almost perfectly in line behind Colak.

This leave Lundstrum as the lone shield.

Our debate today was, was Lundstrum 10 yards out of position or should Barasic have followed the player in to the midfield?

Majority of the coaches sided with Lundstrum being out of position.

They set up 541, had no intention if changing it hoping we would do our usual huffing and puffing against a 9 man block
They got an early goal they never expected, and then hung on.
Martindale changed his setup when we upped the pace 2nd half and that left gaps, his mistake our gain.
Move on to Tuesday, hopefully an easier, to watch game!

Players bursting into the box is Arfield's game, sweep. Which is why he was given another year. Great player to bring on if you need to change it up.

Fair point EHL but Barasic doesn't attempt to go for the ball and Souttar gets turned far too easy. If souttar stands his ground the Striker doesn't get in.

Ehl Barasic should have dealt with that ball over the top first, not a chance was it Lundstram position, he should have jumped and challenged for that ball, and then Soutter and Mclaughlin let us down.

If barasic comes for the hall 30+ yards out and loses the header he would still get the blame for being out of position.
Once it was headed on there was virtually no challenge on the guy, he couldn't believe his luck.
Took it well though, fair play.
Arfield scored one like that last year at Livi.

It was a good debate, the one thing that was clear though was there was a lack of communication between the triangle of players (Barasic, Souttar and Lundstrum) - as the ball was in the air for a long time.

Guess that comes with new players and tweaks to the in game set up.
