Ok folks let’s calm down, Ben Davies isn’t finished and I can pretty much guarantee we are not going to be signing any out of contract players. Our fans do this every year after a transfer window shuts, just like the papers do and the ‘bloggers’ do. Everyone scrabbles around looking at who is out of contract and the rumours start that we’re going to sign one of them. First it was Barkley, then some Portuguese midfielder who was playing in France, now it’s Gary Cahill. But it’s the same every transfer window and how many times how we signed someone after the window has shut who's on a free? That’s right, none. To me signing out of contract players outside a transfer window kinda smacks of desperation and makes it look like a club doesn’t know what it’s doing. The only time I’d advocate it is if your club suddenly came down with a string of major unforeseen injuries leaving them fundamentally short for a position. Yes I know we have both Helander and Soutar out but we still have Goldson, Davies (just back to fitness) King and Sands. Sorry Bathgate, but I reckon your friend read this on Rangers News Now (like pretty much the rest of us) where it was essentially made up by a blogger.

Monty, I think John’s point is, just because one person on a rumours site posts something, it doesn’t automatically make it true. That’s what can frustrate me, not that people want to post rumours or things that they ‘have heard’, (let’s face it, we all come here because it’s fun to read these things), but that a lot of the time they make statements without clarifying the details or what their source is. Then other folk on here suddenly take what was written as 100% gospel truth. I think what John is saying is, yes someone did write that, but they never even stated who these 3 players supposedly were and we have no idea at all if there is any truth in it. It could be completely made up for all we know. This happens a lot on here. Someone posts a ‘rumour’ (which is fine) but by about 5 or 6 responses down some folk are getting raging at Gio, Wilson, the board or A N Other, because of what the rumour was, without considering if there is even a modicum of truth in the original post.

To be fair to Monty, the same needs to be said when Johns posting things, I understand John has info, and is correct a lot of the time, my issue isn't with john, its with everyone else jumping on the bandwagon when he says something. or when someone has a different opinion from him. Every thread ends up with someone getting slaughtered.

As it's been pointed out above, I wouldn't expect us to be signing anyone outside the window unless there's a been a substantial change within the current squad.

So unless Hellander or Souttar injuries are worse than expected or the circumstances around Davies have changed then I can't see it.

In principle though, providing the salary wasn't OTT, I wouldn't be against Cahill.

I really don't believe Davies injured. I think it could be more to do with his mental state.

Otherwise why would he have been on the bench so much recently if he was not fit.

Also would love to know what is going on with souttar. Is he another one with a family problem or is he injured? It's hard to believe anything that comes out the club.

Gers 1978 I get you want solid info as we all do but I would tend to believe this one as gio still hasn't recruited anyone from Dutch league this is unlike managers most tent to recruit guys from leagues they played or managed in as they know how they would fit the system or if they are reliable but there has been none of that under gio/ Wilson you only need to look at bargain buys the other side of city got through Thier managers experience of a different league.

I honestly don't trust our board or Wilson one bit the signings have looked very lazy options to me as if not much scouting went on.

I personally think Davies will be a great player for us when up to speed. He was a good championship CB before Liverpool. Think he will take time to settle but will come good. Same opinion I have with Yilmaz and Matonda. Been told the only deals we are working in just now is contract extension and looking to set up a deal for the Belgian lad Raskin. I'm sure his contract expires end of season and he will replace Kamara at end of the season or if sold in January.

Galston how can you say James sands is not a centre half? He came to us with a labelled “different position” but he has been by a mile our best defender, bailing Goldson out continuously! And receiving a few yellow cards in the process by being compromised by his fellow defenders… if he’s the best defender playing…. Then he’s a defender.

Plus, and I know I’m going to get slaughtered for saying this but Jason Denayer is out there without a club. He would absolutely romp it for us. Was brilliant for that lot and was excellent in the French league too… he would cost nothing.

Goldsons to busy charging forward they red card says it all the guy tracks ng back with sands was lundstrum as goldson was nowhere to be seen 9 times outta ten he can be seen ten yards outta the action flinging his hands in the air and pointing fingers at others.
