19 Nov 2022 08:12:17
Instant success costs, this is great news by planning for the future.

12.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 08:39:14
gvb you might well be happy bringing in young talent but we need 1st team STARTERS.

Correct clets.

14.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 08:48:57
Rob try separate the two issues, 50k for a lad is great business.

15.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 08:49:20
We need 1st team starters and to plan for the future. If they're talented and we get them this is positive news.

16.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 08:52:53
I think everyone understands the 'planning for the future' john27,but I think we have more pressing needs at the minute, and another 6 months of what we have seen lately, we might not have a future!

17.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 08:55:43
robmc the academy with be basically be covering these players fees, these lads will make Rangers some amount of cash moving forward.

18.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 09:34:32
I have a couple of issues with the youth policy.

We have 10 players out injured, at least as many off form and a few who just can’t be arsed or who should have been moved on in the summer. Mccrorie is wasting away and is only used when the first team take shots into him warming up on match days. King, the poor lad, should have been removed from first team weeks ago and Lowry and McCann can’t get a game given the above circumstances which suggests they aren’t good enough.

Then when we have some really outstanding talent the premiership come along and pay them what we pay first team international players. Billy Gilmore being the prime example. He could have stayed at rangers, played under SG who is arguably the best British midfielder in a generation and plays in his position, could have played 40 games a season, won a league, won a cup, played in Europe and could now be ready to go and give the premiership or another top league a proper crack. However he took the money and the chance at Chelsea and now he is rotting away on the bench at Brighton after a disaster at Norwich. And let’s be honest, who can blame the boy. The riches on offer down south are unbelievable and would he have progressed at Rangers give our recent history of players getting into the first team. Patterson couldn’t remove the much taunted Tav.

This isn’t a dig at rangers or anyone. However to risk our future on the academy is very high risk.

John the lad from kinetic should be heading up on trial believe Sheffield United are also chasing him. CB that's got decent potential. Great academy to be involved with. Already signed at least 2 of there players.
We must get the talent into the academy. These lads will be costing very little and could potentially make us millions. Look at Ajax they bring through so many of their own players or Manchester United when the Beckham, giggs, Scholes etc came through. Would rather produce our own 11 that way they know the club and what's expected.

20.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 09:51:46
I find it funny that posters can get angry because the youth set up buy players which by the way is a very important part of our club. The crazy people can somehow get all upset because they are not for the first team and use this for more moans and groans to satisfy their need to constantly moan and get all upset about everything and anything that the club does. Instead of being happy that the youth set up is flying high at the moment you chose to ignore that and somehow get angry and all upset with the club. Strange behaviour if you ask me.

21.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 10:13:50
Cheers John.

Why do some fans think we don’t need to get youngsters in? We need to focus on all aspects is it working in short term probably not but it’s a long term goal for the club.

22.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 10:19:18
Pretty much word for word what I was going to type Three Cheers.

23.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 10:43:08
cheers for that john!

24.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 11:48:47
Bellshill I don’t know who the lad from kinetic is

U r correct storm

Very good post three cheers. Mb I should stop posting if it stresses people re youth team

Bar 72 why might we not have a future. R we going to the wall

Baz the problem is always the money on offer south of the border. The lad Doak at Liverpool has just signed a professional contract at 17 where he can get 1 million a year based on getting games in first team and for Scotland.

25.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 12:10:15
Our youth policy bringing in young players is going to work out in the future, players such as Lovelace have a great future in the game, makes great financial sense to bring them in at this stage in their career.

26.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 12:19:05
He looks a player john the boy Doak. I've only seen him twice but both times he was a standout. Liverpool v us in the champions youth league where he was brilliant and for Scotland the other night. There is something that is really satisfying when you watch a wee guy play with no fear and tear the opponents a new one time and time again.

27.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 12:33:22
Three cheers he is a top player.

People I speak to down south rave about him and Wilson, who is delivering for villa b team

Couple coaches in England I have spoken to say Doak will be in full Scotland squad for 24 euro qualifying.

28.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 12:46:15
I see it as a positive that we are trying to bring in all these youths and believe it would be poor management if we weren’t thinking about the future. Most won’t make it but if we can produce a diamond every so often I would be happier.

Gvb. Re academy covering costs of academy signing in the main u r correct.

To my knowledge all money accrued from players like Kelly mebude Nathan Coombes Gilmour Middleton and many more r ploughed into the academy set up.

This includes development fees, our share of 5% when a player subsequently moves between clubs, small but adds up

Three excellent examples are Billy Gilmour, according to Chelsea they paid us over a. 1.5 made up signing fee, first team debut, CL involvement, appearance, Scotland caps, percentage off fee when he went to Brighton

Nathan Coombes, similar plus we allegedly got 250k when he came on as sub epl

Dire mebude, 600k signing on fee. Plus many add ons, we want this lad to play a game in league for them and get full Scotland cap, a Mullholland podcast says this boy will earn more than Gilmour for us

Another one is young Wilson who could reach the heights.

It’s how Wilson and others structure these deals.

I read when we sold Paterson, Aribo and Bassey clubs wanted appearances based on league starts, Wilson stood his ground said all games, and coming on as a sub, he goes on to say every time Paterson is on the pitch we get more money,

Add ons for these three players alone will get us just over 12 million, not to be scoffed at

The only signing I’m aware off is young mcann 750k, this money did not come from academy pot.

19 Nov 2022 13:06:55
John, getting a bit tetchy mate!
In case you haven't noticed, we have at least 10 first team players who will most likely be gone by next year. Msubevim wrong but I don't think we have the money to replace them with better first team regulars. There are long term season ticket holders and people on here already talking about walking away if the current trend continues!
if we don't stay relevant and in the hunt for the league every year we are done.
Signing countless youths to lose them back down south for peanuts is, grest when you are doing well. We are mot doing well!
And can you say for certain, we are not going to the wall again?

31.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 13:15:42
More time and effort on the first team recruitment needed I agree but this is also great for our future.

32.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 14:52:33
Bar how am I getting tetchy u say we might not have a future, do u have info to that effect.

33.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 14:53:34
Yes I trust the present people in charge. Bar.

34.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 14:56:34
All this money such as Wilson's deal to Villa all adds up, John what length of deal did the boy Lovelace sign when joined us? do you think he'll stay with us? imo he was the pick of the young summer signings.

35.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 15:21:43
Bar how is John getting tetchy all he is doing is explaining what he is saying maybe you don’t like it but it’s not being tetchy.

36.) 19 Nov 2022
19 Nov 2022 18:22:53
Mark, I believe it was a two year deal, with a review at end of this season.

37.) 20 Nov 2022
20 Nov 2022 00:51:10
Rangers are failing our youth any other country Lowry would be playing McCann would be playing mccrorie would have got a proper chance having never let. us down.

38.) 20 Nov 2022
20 Nov 2022 00:56:38
I kinda agree storm but paying fees is kinda risky if we are signing them on three year deals and by time they get to end of that deal most of them walk away pretty much what has been happening to rangers and Celtic over the last few years. youth is the right strategy long term I agree but it's pointless if these boys can't see a genuine route to play Lowry is being criticized for being arrogant when that is seen as something important in youth abroad arrogance in ones ability is not always a bad thing if the have work ethic to go with it.

39.) 20 Nov 2022
20 Nov 2022 14:48:02
Bar the long term fans you talk of that are ready to walk away can do just that as they are clearly not true Rangers fans. They could maybe go support hearts or motherwell.
My information on our financial status at present and in the future is that we are ahead of where the board thought we would be. We are about 18 months ahead. The youth set up is crucial to our future business plan and trading model. We need these young players to come through the academy and I to the first team. They will make us millions and not breathe bank doing so. Looked Patterson potential 16m and he cost nowhere near that figure to bring up the levels. Look at the likes of King and Lowry at present. If we have a steady stream of players coming through the academy we will have more money to go out and buy players. If we bring through 3 youth players every season or 2 that's 3 fees we don't need to spend. Look at Ajax trading model. Spend a fraction on players compared to what they earn when selling them.

40.) 20 Nov 2022
20 Nov 2022 16:11:06
Good post bellshillad83, tbh I'd even be happy with one youth player a season breaking into the first team squad.
