Hi Edd please post this for folks interest. IFAB rules on Handball.

"Handling the ball

For the purposes of determining handball offences, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit. Not every touch of a player's hand / arm with the ball is an offence.

It is an offence if a player: deliberately touches the ball with their hand / arm, for example moving the hand / arm towards the ball touches the ball with their hand / arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger.

A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand / arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player's body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand / arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand / arm being hit by the ball and being penalised scores in the opponents' goal: directly from their hand / arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper immediately after the ball has touched their hand / arm, even if accidental."

I think if the ball doesn’t strike Lundstrums arm i.e. if his arm hadn’t been in that position, then it hits his side or back. So if that’s a penalty, why was it not a penalty when it hits the killie players outstretched hand?

TJB, thanks for clearing that up for everybody in the world who was not instrumental in writing it. Now we all understand the rule, don't we people?

Jeeso! Some of us still argue about the old offside rule.
My brain hurts.

The Mayo incident clearly showed that he played the ball deliberately with his hand, a definite penalty, JL wasn't even looking at the ball, it struck him rather than him playing the ball, not a penalty in my opinion, but it's gone now and we move on.

Hold on until I get a lawyer to decipher it for me.
Needs simplified if not for the average fan but to help take grey areas away and help the refs.

"Grey Area's " CO2 its that bad it melts your heid away, brain and all? and leaves you drooling in a rubber room trying to figure out how a toenail is offside, or a t-shirt sleeve line is OK but a inch lower isn't?? nuts.

Scottish referees, simple as that. It wouldn't have happened if Tiny Wharton was still refereeing!

So to sum up Lundstrams wasn`t a penalty, Mayos definitely should have been and the Findlay one might have been as there is nothing here that says it hitting you elsewhere before your arm is not a penalty.
