Hello guys don't know much about contracts but surely letting our 3 biggest assets (buff, kent, aribo) run there contracts down to last 12 months is worrying. My question is do you think these guys want to be here? I would love to keep them but also would only want to keep players that want to be here. Has anyone heard anything about kent, morelos contracts? I know it's a short career and they need to think about themselves but we have gave them a huge platform to showcase there talents so don't they at least owe us for that or is it every man for themselves these days?

imo, only aribo was desperate for a move, and i’ve said it a few months ago, he wasn’t happy, the other two are comfortable.

Works both ways BB, we gave them a platform, they helped deliver a League, Cup and got us to within a whisker of a European trophy.
I DO think it's strange we allowed their contracts to run down, but I'm sure it would have been discussed previously and if they don't want to stay, thanks and good luck.
I don't hear a mighty rush for anyone to sign the 2 that's left mind, so worrying they could walk for peanuts or even nothing next year.

So u sign someone four year deal when do u renew.
Reports now coming out Southampton he is on 60 k a week.
Good luck to him

We were very unlikely to pay him the same signing on fee and bonus we were paying him when we first signed him.

I wouldn't say we let any of their deals run down.

I could be wrong, but I think we renegotiated extensions for all three players at some point in their rangers career and offered further extensions.

It's in the hands of the players after that.

We could have looked to move them on earlier, however surely the European run last year showed the value of keeping them.

Sure we’ve tried to extend their deals before now.

But it’s down to player and agent to go ahead.

Last year gives agent a chance to hardball the best money out of the club or risk players signing a pre contract deal.

I don't understand the confusion about players getting to the last 12 months of their contracts.

Happens all the time.

Club wise, unless there is a value met in the time prior to a players last season, and being able to bring in a suitable replacement within our structure as well as with quality, why panic sell? Even if we got another season out of players and they leave for free, if they have delivered a Scottish cup, European final and league total it is worth keeping them that extra year surely and letting them go on a free.

Player wise, football is a very short career, one bad season or bad injury and their career and earnings could massively dip, so I'm sure they keep their options open.

If happy at the club they will sign a new contract within their final year, Goldson for example, or choose to go.

John25 is nearly always on point and has mentioned Kent to sign extension and looks likely Alfie will too. Don't see the panic imo.

Cheers for replying guy's. Not panicking coisty92 as I said not clued up on contracts but don't think we should ever let our biggest assets go for nothing but understand its not as straightforward as that mate.

Cheers John and Boy Blue.

First time post despite watching page for years.

Sorry blue, choice of words maybe not correct with panicking but trying to get across that it definetly won't be a policy of just sitting on our hands as they enter final twelve months. I'm sure that contract negotiations were going on with aribo for 18 months and I'm glad we didn't cash in back then when he initially said no seeing as he scored in a European final for us.

Negotiations will be going on for months if not a year and suppose the club need to weigh up taking the chance of a player leaving for free but us benefitting from having them for that last season opposed for cashing in and the replacement may flop or not be available in our budget.

Yer maws maw. Because aribo was sold does that mean his contract wasn't in it's last 12 month. You should maybe read the comment again especially the part where I ask has anyone heard anything about kent, morelos contracts you'll maybe notice second time around I didn't ask about aribo as we all know that situation. Some people do need to read thing's twice as there maybe not as sharp as the rest of us.
