It’s never nice to see a Rangers manager lose his job but it had to be done. We welcome in a new era of Clement and we get behind him from the off.

It’s no doubt there’s a monumental task ahead and I’m hoping he is giving time and backing in the next few transfer windows and beyond. Some of the players we bought in will have to shape up and work harder, the experienced ones, will also need to raise a level, or changes have to be made.

I get the feeling, from his initial soundbites, he is a bit of a taskmaster and having that unknown quantity element to him in terms of personality and freshness, I hope and trust this will ensure players respond in a timely fashion.

We need a consistent spine to the team and build from it, into every area of the park. We need a new identity, which has been lacking these last seasons and to reconnect with fans.

There’s too many weak personalities who are unwilling to go through the pain of a niggling injury and they have to man up, or be sold or punted. The same with those, simply not good enough for what’s required at Rangers and that includes those, who have been here over the last few years.

We cannot afford another start to a season like this one or a continuation of the issues, that made us arrive here. I truly hope the players respond and we can salvage our season. Making the incoming weeks and months more positive for supporters.
