This is a rumours site after all and so I'll let you know what I heard earlier: Galatasaray are wanting Yilmaz in the January window. They don't want Morelos or Kent, but they do want Yilmaz. That tells me we should keep him. Just as well we didn't shoot Wilson a few weeks ago because it looks as though his signings are beginning to pay-off.

Colonel Cathcart

1.) 10 Oct 2022 15:41:32
Is that a loan deal?

2.) 10 Oct 2022 15:59:38
Been reported the last few days that they want him on loan to solve their left back problems.

3.) 10 Oct 2022 16:10:11
A player signed I'm January for a fortune not playing and being touted for a loan 5 months later is a deal paying off?

4.) 10 Oct 2022 16:21:10
Yep see that colonel all over media re yilmaz.

5.) 10 Oct 2022 16:36:04
John - If Yilmaz was to go out on loan who would we have as cover for Borna?

6.) 10 Oct 2022 16:38:04
Yilmaz needs games same as matondo etc a 5 minute run out is nothing my 6 yr old can do that.

7.) 10 Oct 2022 16:56:20
They done with same with Alfredo they offered a 1 year loan with a 7-10 million buy out I’m not sure the exact figure but they are know for there low offers.

8.) 10 Oct 2022 17:16:47
So because he has been kept out the team by a in form borna it’s a bad deal. Some on this page would find negativity in winning the lottery.

9.) 10 Oct 2022 17:38:03
Correct Bassey.

10.) 10 Oct 2022 17:58:28
I though on Sat when he came on he looked a player great balance when he receives the ball his first thought is to get forward he looks a player and no way would I want him leaving even on loan.

11.) 10 Oct 2022 19:16:39
Wilson’s signings are beginning to pay off?
Are you basing this on galatasaray wanting yilmaz?

12.) 10 Oct 2022 19:33:03
Yilmaz needs game time NOW. Boy highly thought of and surely had time to settle.

13.) 10 Oct 2022 19:40:54
For the life of me i just can't see rangers allowing yilmaz to go out on loan to galatasaray ? He's currently understudy to borna and irrespective of the £5million fee we paid for him, he should be staying with us and fighting for his place ?If and it's a big if yilmaz were to leave it should be on a permanent deal and would/ should take a big fee for rangers to accept ? It might be the case in january that yilmaz would want to leave if he hasn't broken into our starting 11 ?If that is the case rangers should be looking for a big fee from galatasaray or any other club for that matter, to tempt us into selling him, although i'm not for one minute wanting us to sell yilmaz at this moment in time ?.

14.) 10 Oct 2022 19:50:01
Copland, Fraser ciubatrou, yfeko. Mb king. So imo no one suitable for cover at this stage.

15.) 10 Oct 2022 19:50:48
Tjrfc he was signed in the summer. He will be an incredible bit of business and he won’t be going anywhere iN January.

16.) 10 Oct 2022 20:12:09
I agree, I thought he looked really promising on Saturday.

Reading between the lines in Gios press conference the other week, it sounded like Ridvan had been struggling to settle, hopefully I'm wrong mind you.

17.) 10 Oct 2022 20:15:39
Signings paying off are you serious?

With how many we signed and how many are playing well and regular it's a bit early for Wilson praise.

18.) 10 Oct 2022 20:18:12
With regards yilmaz I really don't get why he is not getting at least some game time from bench. He looks capable enough to deploy further forward too. I get that he's young and has time but a 6 million player sitting on the bench for full season does not do the boy any good and could go backwards.

I wouldn't be surprised if barasic is sold in January window.

19.) 10 Oct 2022 22:09:26
Clearly Yilmaz has quality hence the fee, International status and interest from Galatasaray. Just because they have an interest doesn’t mean that Rangers or the player are interested in the move.
It’s a long season that we are about 6-8 weeks into. Just because he cost a certain amount doesn’t mean he just walks into starting 11.
He may be taking time to settle from a personal point of view but ultimately he’s hardly has much of an opportunity to feature so shouldn’t be judged on small sample size to date.

20.) 10 Oct 2022 22:51:45
Barisic loves it here and is playing well with his countryman dout he is going anywhere.

21.) 10 Oct 2022 23:41:16
He wasn't signed in January to whoever said that!

22.) 11 Oct 2022 10:23:19
Bassey he has already stated twice his desire to move.

23.) 13 Oct 2022 09:19:11
Giving Yilmaz half a season at Galatasaray sounds fine to me. It’ll be a baptism of fire, and regular football. He could do amazingly well, and come back to us an even better player. That’s got tot be better than being a bench warmer at Ibrox.

01 Jun 2022 20:06:04
I understand Rangers are keen to sign Columbian Mateo Cassierra from FC Sochi. Russian clubs are out of European competitions next season and so that explains why he is being sold. £8.5m.

Colonel Cathcart

1.) 01 Jun 2022 20:19:49
We’re not interested in him despite what you read in the papers. His agents throwing his name about to try get him out of Russia.

2.) 01 Jun 2022 20:23:17
They aren’t getting 8 million for a guy out of contract next year.

3.) 01 Jun 2022 20:34:06
Not a chance we will pay even half of that.
£2/ 3m max he’s in final year of contract and player stated himself today he hopes tkk ok behave his fitre sorted next week. Mentioned rangers and gio also and stated he has options.

4.) 01 Jun 2022 20:40:50
Colonel we won’t be paying that for anyone imo.

5.) 01 Jun 2022 20:53:41
8.5m behave yourself. Have u just added that in yourself.

6.) 01 Jun 2022 21:02:32
Yeah nobody is ever paying £8.5m for him, I’m not even sure we can buy players from Russia, I thought their contracts had been ripped up?

7.) 01 jun 2022 21:42:49
been on here all week mate.

8.) 01 Jun 2022 22:10:31
Last year of contract. Wont be paying more than 2/ 3m max.

9.) 01 Jun 2022 22:31:12
I doubt we would be allowed to give them any money let alone £8.5m due to the UK’s ban on giving any funds related to Russia.

10.) 02 Jun 2022 20:43:33
There must be a way round about it.

27 May 2022 17:26:50
The story about Bassey being sold for a possible £25m was in the Times (that's the London Times, not the Evening Times) .

It sounds as if this guy is made of gold all of a sudden. 6 or 8 clubs have inquired already.

I remember when Aberdeen won the Cup Winners Cup in 82 or 83, or whenever it was, they immediately sold Steve Archiebald to Barcelona for a price far in excess of what he was actually worth.

My point is: I would take the money and let Gio re-balance and re-set the team. He's a trusted Manager now and so give him the money and let him sign who he wants. We will never keep Bassey long term anyway.

The only player at Ibrox that I am in any way precious about is Morelos. In my personal opinion, if he was around at the end of the season we may well have won the Europa League.

Colonel Cathcart

1.) 27 May 2022 19:55:34
I tend to agree with you Colonel. I really don't want the big fella to go, but your post makes a lot of sense.

2.) 27 may 2022 20:30:36
if we had roofe in the team we may well have won the europa league
can’t remember what archibald sold for, but i do know he was a helluva player and a barcelona hero.

3.) 28 May 2022 00:41:07
Colonel, Archibald never played in that 83 team, he left to go to Tottenham in 80.

4.) 28 may 2022 11:15:40
aye, the aberdeen forwards were black, mcghee and my old pal peter weir i think.

These games against Celtic have cost us everything this season and Clement needs to find a way of winning them. That said, there are three players that need removed from that team and if he doesn't remove them, they could end up costing him his job. The young guys showed great energy and no fear and so the situation is promising.

I think a league winning side is different in that the team are young, nearly always fit and always willing to work and learn.

I was reading yesterday that Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq side is KSA were interested in taking both Goldson and Tav after the cup final.

I've worked in KSA a few times and if both are slowing down in Scotland, then it will be worse for them in that heat. The cash though is fabulous.

However, it will get us transfer fees, free-up wages, and allow us to start again.

When I think of Goldson I always think of Tav as well and I think we should try and move-on both and let Clement re-balance the defense with new guys.

Colonel Cathcart

1.) 25 Apr 2024 11:54:17
Take the money and run.

2.) 25 Apr 2024 13:15:58
I'd like to see both leave.

3.) 25 Apr 2024 15:36:15
Bite their hand off, take the money, run and pee ourselves laughing. Fingers crossed!

4.) 25 Apr 2024 17:07:03
As long as Gerard pays over the odds for them then that is fine ?

both been good servants to the club, rarely injured, tav been here since the dark days - how many players have a Scottish championship medal and played in a European final….?! Grown as a player, would
Love to see him go out in a blaze of glory in May.

29 Mar 2024 14:14:14
I know Malik Tillman just didn't want to stay and so that was the end of it. I wonder though, with this guy Clement in charge, would he have elected to stay? Fabulous player.

Colonel Cathcart

1.) 29 Mar 2024 14:44:16
Tbh I don’t think he would have he’s destined to go to the very top. He’s a fantastic player and we were lucky to have him. Bayern have kept him on for a reason.

01 Mar 2024 19:19:43
I have said this on here before but I can remember someone saying that Rangers had the worst summer signings in all of European football and no-one argued. They have turned-out to be pretty good though, after all.

The worst summer signings in European football go to that other Glasgow club who, I see, have just bagged their player scouts. They signed about a dozen players for about £2m each in the summer and they have all bombed.

That is the sort of crisis that takes a club years to shake off. One or 2 you can move-on, but 12?

Colonel Cathcart

1.) 01 Mar 2024 20:11:42
I agree, they've had two poor windows.

2.) 01 Mar 2024 20:33:00
The reason the majority have worked is down to the manager nothing else. If Beale was still here I would hate to think where we would be right now we certainly wouldn’t have a 2 point lead.

3.) 01 Mar 2024 21:21:11
Agree Storm, total reset and refresh from PC, creating a competitive atmosphere with fair rotation and building players self esteem. Night and day from Beale.

4.) 01 Mar 2024 21:30:53
I think when you have the budget of the old firm you will get lucky every now and again with real gems, on occasion you might get a few at one time but that will not last forever. I've personally thought Celtic will get their fair share of duds at some point and we will get a Kyogo.

Many moving parts where I agree with Storm the incommoding manger has direct influence but possibly short term. We are in the unusual position where like tic we can offer Champions league level experience club but with 10th of the budget. We will never produce enough home grown talent so scouting is and should be one of the most important parts of our club.

5.) 01 Mar 2024 21:33:47
Players we've signed the last three windows will all make us cash some far more than others apart from Balogun and probably Lammers and Dessers, they signed about a dozen players that they will find really hard to move on, signed that German winger on a 5 1/ 2 year deal, will be the reason lawell is off.

6.) 01 Mar 2024 21:38:46
I’d guess 18 points behind Storm.

7.) 01 Mar 2024 23:09:31
Rangers have got many players worth very good cash now, Butland Sterling Cantwell Diomande Yilmaz, Cortes when signed and a good few others.

8.) 01 Mar 2024 23:55:37
I think the players themselves take a bit of credit as well. Some players just need time to settle. PC has had a great affect on the team though.

9.) 02 Mar 2024 09:56:09
If you look at big Ange he also signed some stinkers which gets covered up by 3 or 4 good signings.
He signed 29 players for the first team in his time there. I'm sure if you look at teams everywhere you will find players that just don't make it.
I'm sure with Koppen and Big Phil we will get more successes than failures in the transfer market.

10.) 02 Mar 2024 10:34:27
If you are a Club that relies on a player trading model then to be successful you need to have an exceptional Scouting System and a quality youth policy. That is where we have fallen down in the past. There is no point in signing players to sell on at a profit if you don't have the replacements, (at a similar or better quality), coming through.
At the end of the day, in Scotland, winning the league and progressing in Europe is fundamentally important for us, and the other lot, otherwise you have failed.

14 Feb 2024 17:13:46
I'm a relatively old-man and I've managed to get many things wrong, but tonight I reckon we go back to the top. The great thing is that I see this team only getting better in the months ahead.

Colonel Cathcart

1.) 14 Feb 2024 18:18:18
The top beckons colonel.

2.) 14 Feb 2024 22:01:11
Should have been 7. Finishing is worrying. but 3points is the main thing.

I understand that Bassey is not getting on well at Ajax. In fact, none of their summer signings are getting on well. They are calling him Bambi on Ice. The point I am making is that a team can be transformed for the better, or worse, with 3 or 4 good signings, or bad signings. The only real blunder we have made recently has been Matondo and he may come good under Beale.

Moyes is a Scotland supporter and has been for years. The fans will go for that option every time. McInnes is a fair shout though and a more respected manager than Clarke ever was. Clarke just looks and sounds so bad in front of the TV cameras. Says all the wrong stuff very badly. Reminds me of Beale in some ways.

I hate to mention his name on here, but Shankland is a proven goal scorer who scores goal from nothing chances. The combination of him and Gilmour should have played from minute 1, game 1.

Spain are the exemplar model of youth, experience, press, motivation, organization and balance. That's what Clement is trying to achieve and good luck to him. Spain shows it can be done. My money's on Clement's team for next season already.

I was involved in the east and west enclosure refurbishments about 20-years ago. The player's tunnel was repositioned at that time too. It is very challenging working under such a tight deadline all of the time. Things do tend to go wrong and when they do, you run out of time to fix them. In the end, we finished just on time. Whenever it was, it was the year we signed Boli and Laudrup.

I though Spain last night showed the right mix of youth and experience in their side. Great balance and width to their play as well. They are my favorites.
